The article analyzes participation of employees in management from the viewpoint of improvement of managerial functions, and especially optimization of decisions and control. On the basis of results afforded by questionnaire survey the author stresses the role played by managers in expanding participation of workers in management of the company. In the opinion of most interviewed participation in management depends on the attitude of managers and their authority. Effectiveness of this participation and its expansion, according to the author, is not an object of evaluation of managers by their superiors, and that is why participation continues to be only a general social norm, an accepted but not rewarded element of the social role performed by managers. Discussing the prospects of employees participation in management, the author stresses that employees wish also to participate in planning the company development, technical progress, improving working conditions perceiving here a chance for development of personality and growth of effectiveness.

The article deals with analysis of the attitude to work as a basic category in sociology of work. The socialist attitude to work is expressed through: sense of responsibility and duty in relation to implemented economic tasks; socialist structure of work motivation; active participation in different forms of social-voluntary work in the place of work; collectivity; continuous striving for improvement of one’s own education and qualifications. The results of researches performed in 1967 and 1977 allowed to state that attitudes and behaviours of workers in relation to their work correspond, already to a large extent, to objective character of work and bear typically socialist traits. In the researches in question there were determined three groups of factors exerting an influence on promotion of the socialist attitude to work: 1. Factors related to personality - from among them of basic significance was political involvement of examined workers and performance of volunteer-unpaid functions in the work establishment as well as the level of professional qualifications. 2. Factors related to work environment - from among them the most important one is the real level of development of socialist democracy in the work establishment, next comes the manager’s personality and style of managing as well as mutual relations between people - members of one collective body. 3. Factors concerning work contents and from among them the most important appeared to be: interesting work, diversified, responsible and requiring high qualifications work.
