Przedmiotem zainteresowań artykułu w najogólniejszym ujęciu są idee feministyczneopowiadające o ucisku kobiet w sferze życia seksualnego. Perspektywa rozważania osadzasię na koncepcji trwałych schematów-systemów dyspozycji myślenia i działania rozumianychjako habitus w myśl Męskiej dominacji Pierre’a Bourdieu. W celu odnalezienia owychtworów społecznych odpornych na zmiany została przeprowadzona analiza porównawczadzieł feministycznej literatury francuskiej różnych okresów i nurtów. Na warsztat trafiłaDruga płeć egzystencjalistki Simone de Beauvoir oraz Ta płeć (jedną) płcią niebędąca feministkiróżnicy, Luce Irigaray. Celem artykułu, obok wyróżnienia obowiązujących doczasów współczesnych struktur symbolicznych dotyczących ciała i seksualności, jest przetestowanietezy o nieprzystawalności tez feminizmu różnych podejść teoretycznych.
Przekraczał granice państw i kontynentów.

From its inception feminism drew its energy from its supra-national coverage as a social movement, an ideology, and as a theory. Overcoming national and continental borders. Influencing the life and mentality of people of diverse cultures, ethnic communities, and social levels. The text shows that the phenomenon encompass a wide range of attitudes, behaviours, and strategies. Therefore, how to unite women with dividing differences, and particular using this differences? This article is an attempt to show the internal dialog of feminism. It used the method of differing replies of feminists to recurring questions. Exhibiting the internal dynamics of the philosophy of feminism travelling on explored and unexplored paths; and history to emphasize equally the limits, diversity, and wealth of open horizons.
The objects studied in this work in the most general terms are feminist ideas about theoppression of women in their sex life. Perspective of reflection settles on the concept ofdurable patterns-disposition systems of thought and action understood as habitus in accordancewith Male dominance by Pierre Bourdieu. In order to find these social formsresistant to change, a comparative analysis of feminist French literature works of differentperiods and streams was conducted. The Second Sex by existentialist Simone de Beauvoirand This Sex Which Is Not One by Luce Irigaray, a feminist of difference, Irigaray were considered. The purpose of the article, in addition to highlighting the existing contemporarysymbolic structures on the body and sexuality, is to test the thesis of the incompatibility offeminisms emerging from different theoretical approaches.
The article outlines the challenges for literatures created in ‘small’ languages. The only chance for such cultures to emerge from literary obscurity is to be translated into a ‘big’ language, a lingua franca of an international influence. This phenomenon is well illustrated by the spectacular Bibliography of Books by Female Authors in Yugoslavia, published by the Federation of Women with University Education in 1936 in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The book, a unique and remarkable feminist project of interwar Yugoslavia, was conceived to defy the Slavica non leguntur statement (the Slavic lanquages are not read world-wide). It features the intellectual achievement of women from South-Eastern Europe. This fi rst discussion of the Bibliography, which was composed in four languages: Serbian, Slovene, Croatian and French, presents its structure, aims and premises in a wider feminist context of interwar Yugoslavia.
The aim of this text is to reflect upon Polish research on the art of women. The analysis focus on syntheses, published in book form, devoted to a group of female artists working at a specific time and place. This analysis shows the shape of research on women’s art in Poland, the consequences of it and the perspectives for the future.
The text poses some questions concerning the future of the feminist history of literature in the context of contemporary transformations in the fi eld of “academic knowledge production”, as well as the rhetoric and politics of the women’s movement. Moreover, it draws attention to the emancipatory character of the early feminist literary projects relating to the recovery of women’s past and also problematizes the present-day notion of women’s “sister community”. The analysis of family metaphors often used in discussions concerning “mother heritage” in the 70s, points to differences between second- and third-wave understanding of the category of “belonging somewhere”. Looking at those arguable places in feminist criticism (e.g. Showalter, Gubar, Gilbert and Moi) allows one to notice changes in the way feminist scholars perceive the literary past. Finding a new critical language to describe the pluralistic and multidimensional nature of women’s literary tradition seems to constitute the biggest challenge to contemporary feminist studies.
Midwifes or rather daughters? This article is a review of Agnieszka Mrozik’s book Midwifes of transformation. Women, literature and power in Poland after 1989, which describes the situation of literature written by women following the 1989 changes in the Polish political system. The author focuses on the figure of the Polish Mother and conflicts between mothers and daughters. However positive aspects of motherhood are omitted. Agnieszka Mrozik also writes about autobiographies and the search for identity, in particular about emigrants and Jews. She takes into consideration even popular literature like Polish versions of Bridget Jones’ story. The aim of the review is to show how intentionally selective are the author’s examples and to write about the omitted matters.
The article points to a feminist approach to the cinema and filmmaking which has been elaborated and evaluated ever since the early 1970s. Its aim is to present a huge variety of theoretical reflections on cinema which give voice to feminist, gender or queer methodology and interpretations. By emphasizing the question of women’s expression cinema, I am trying to show how diverse and differentiated the feminist fi lm theory can be, in terms of its issue, way of argumentation and theoretical contexts.
The essay begins with Michèle Le Dœuff’s singular account of the “primal scene” in her own education as a woman, illustrating a universally significant point about the way(s) in which education can differ for men and women: gender difference both shapes and is shaped by the imaginary of a culture as manifest in how texts matter for Le Dœuff. Her primal scene is the first moment she remembers when, while aspiring to think for herself, a prohibition is placed in her reading of litera- ture. I propose that “text matters” here not only for gender issues, but for the post- colonial theory which Le Dœuff’s reading of island imagery enhances in western literature and culture. The suggestion is that women in the history of ideas have been more susceptible than men to prohibitions (to reading texts): women’s nega- tive education is against going beyond certain boundaries which have been fixed by a generally colonialist culture on the grounds of gender-hierarchies. I stress the significance of confidence in the production of knowledge. A lack or an inhibition of confidence in one’s own ability to think critically risks the damaging exclusions of, for example, colonialism and sexism. My aim is to unearth the political biases evident in textual imagery, while also pointing to new epistemic locations, with island-and-sea imagery that transgresses patriarchal prohibition, liberating sub- jects for confident reading and writing of texts today.
Badaczki, używając perspektywy feministycznej wyobraźni socjologicznej, proponują trzy prowokujące do dyskusji hipotezy wyjaśniające tę sytuację. Pierwsza z nich dotyczy procesu demokratyzacji Polski po 1989, druga – wpływu Kościoła katolickiego, a trzecia – specyficznego podejścia socjologów/żek do nauk o rodzinie.
This paper presents the stereotype of a sex bomb in the cinema in relation to actresses and their film roles. The opening chapters explain the term stereotype, focusing especially on the sex bomb stereotype and how it has functioned in the cinema. Film stars that are known for their sex appeal and are considered sex bombs, are presented. The paper then focuses on finding the use and motive of a sex bomb creation in films. The last chapter describes the survey that was conducted to investigate the extent to which the sex bomb stereotype functions nowadays. The findings allow to evaluate how the stereotype has been evolving and whether the characteristics assigned to it have changed.
Po okresie I wojny światowej, wraz z zyskaniem praw do głosowania i edukacji rodzima literatura kobiet zaatakowała zerwaniem wielu społecznych, obyczajowych tabu, w tym seksulanych, np. ciąża, macierzyństwo, aborcja, małżeństwo (G. Zapolska, Z. Nalkowska, M. Kuncewiczowa, P. Gojawiczyńska, I. Krzywicka, A. Gruszecka, H. Boguszewska and many others).Druga wojna światowa i póżniejszy PRL przysłoniły idee feministyczne, ważne tematy i problemy dla kobiet. Feminism in Polish Women’s LiteratureSUMMARYThe subject of discussion in this sketch is first of all feminist themes present in Polish women’s literature. The text considers the following questions: whether the phenomenon of feminist literature exists in Poland; whether feminist themes are characteristic only of women’s art; what feminisms are present in women’s literature? Sociological studies show that feminism is not socially approved even among women who experience gender inequalities. The denial of the positive role of feminism still persists, and there is a deeprooted antifeminist attitude stemming from ignorance and stereotypes. Many years ago Ewa Malinowska argued that the feminist movement in Poland consisted in the activity of individuals rather than the collective work of social activists. The native roots of literature associated with feminism are sought in Narcyza Żmichowska’s Enthusiasts (Entuzjastki) group. The women writers participating in this movement were involved in political and educational activities. After World War One, after women were granted voting rights and right to education, women’s literature in Poland touched on many social and moral taboos, including sexual, such as pregnancy, maternity, abortion, or marriage (G. Zapolska, Z. Nałkowska, M. Kuncewiczowa, P. Gojawiczyńska, I. Krzywicka, A. Gruszecka, H. Boguszewska, and others). World War Two and the period of People’s Poland pushed feminist ideas and women’s important problems and subjects into the deep background. The situation changed after 1989 with the debuts of women writers who not only described female experiences but also openly declared their sympathies towards feminism in interviews (e.g. Manuela Gretkowska, Izabela Filipiak, Olga Tokarczuk, and Natasza Goerke). Contemporary literature is not aggressive, however: women writers do not fi ght and do not openly espouse feminist attitudes and values.
The text is based on the statement that the application of the postcolonial perspective in its late, post-Said form to analyze the phenomenon of religion has fundamental consequences for the feminist theory (and policy). According to the author, it is a particularly important factor which triggers the need to revise the attitude of feminism towards religion and to consider liberal secularization conceptual categories, used in a considerable part of the feminist political project. Based on Judith Butler’s analyses the paper presents how these categories contribute to the building of the false alternative between, on the one hand, the fight against homophobia and misogyny, on the other – the fight against anti-Muslim racism. The attempt made by Butler to cross conceptually that alternative is presented as an example of feminist and postcolonial postsecularism.
