A photocast is a multimedia presentation, several minutes long, of a topical collection of photographs, sometimes complemented with video sequences. Unlike a traditional slideshow consisting of an image and the accompanying music, it contains narrative elements: commentaries, voices of people appearing in the photo, explanatory texts, etc., and the sound does not just form the background but constitutes a whole with the image. Images need not be statically displayed, zoom in/out and sweep effects are often used. The idea of such a show is not new: slideshows from several projectors synchronised with appropriately selected music and text were organised as early as in 1960s. However, it is the technological development of the recent years that has made it possible to create a uniform, easy-to-replay material (one photocast = one digital file). This evolution in the technical capability of making slideshows is also accompanied by the evolution of their place and role. It has become possible not only to show them in projection rooms, but also to publish them on the Internet or send them via mobile phones. Apart from their traditional presence in the art world (slideshows are still organised, it is only their form that changes and becomes enhanced), such shows can become the future of pictorial stories or even news reports: some papers already publish photocasts on their websites to illustrate events described in the printed version and to complement them. A growing interest in this method of communicating personal observations of the world can also be seen among amateur photographers. The trend to include functions for recording video footage in cameras produced today – both compact ones and professional SLR cameras – coupled with the availability of software for editing movies contributes to the spread of photocasts. It is the author’s belief that photocasts can also become an interesting communication tool in teaching.

Based on analysis of information society development tendencies and the nature of social-pedagogical activities, the significance of sociocultural technologies in solving social problems of Ukraine, as well as of humanity, with social-pedagogical means is given a rationale. The process of social growth of a person as an active social subject of not just a single country, world region, but of worldwide community as well has to change fundamentally according to contemporary sociocultural demands. Sociocultural technologies were actively used in social-pedagogical work since its emergence in industrial society in order to harmonize social growth of a social subject and social environment. However, these technologies require innovations in information society through expansion of social environment limits and raising demands for social subjects. Sociocultural technologies of social-pedagogical activities should provide a person (various groups, society) with not only civic contents of sociality (the highest in industrial society), but also with regional and global ones. Sociocultural technologies are specified according to contents and methods of implementation. By content, they are aimed at preserving, recreating and developing society’s culture as a whole, as well as its subcultures. As these processes are impossible without involvement of a human being, the social-pedagogical activities in information society should ensure the formation of values and social subjects’ qualities that will enable overcoming civic and regional varieties of egoism in the process of establishing humanity’s global culture. Therefore, the effectiveness of social-pedagogical activities in developing new kinds of social personality will facilitate development and implementation of sociocultural technologies on a different scale – the world regions scale (for example Europe, Latin America etc.) and planetary scale. Human social culture, transformed through sociocultural changes, will ensure the inheritance and safety of information society’s culture dynamics for an average person, various groups, societies, groups of societies, humanity and nature. In terms of implementation methods, sociocultural technologies cover the leading social institutes and establishments of a certain culture, which achieve cultural changes through coordinated and orderly activities. That is why sociocultural technologies of information age are impossible in social-pedagogical activity without involving traditional (family, school, civic organizations, mass-media, recreation institutions etc.), renewed (interactive radio, television, non-governmental and international civic organizations etc.), as well as innovative (Internet, social networks etc.) social agents. Thus, sociocultural technologies and social-pedagogical activities are interconnected, as social pedagogy uses sociocultural technologies to achieve the highest level of human sociality, which ensures the expansion of the scales of implementing sociocultural technologies for peaceful and safe transformation of human culture in all its fields in accordance with information age.

The growing disparity in development between Poland’s regions has become a pressing problem for the country’s economy today. Here disparity applies not only to the standard of living, but also to information and communication technologies (ICTs) used by both individual and larger business entities, and it indicates the division into well-developed and underdeveloped regions. This phenomenon is slowing down the country’s socio-economic development. The article assesses the use of ICTs by Polish enterprises in 2010 relative to other EU member countries and regional structures based on statistical data provided by Eurostat and The Central Office of Statistics.

In the first years of political transformation in Poland starting in 1989, one of the crucial issues was the reform of education, including changes in the procedure of professional advancement for teachers. At that time, it was also important for the Catholic Church to restore Religious Education in schools, which returned to the state education system in the 1990–1991 school year. Since then, RE teachers have had the same rights and obligations as teachers of compulsory subjects and undergone the same professional advancement procedure. Twenty years have passed since the new procedure of career progression for teachers was introduced in Poland. Therefore the author of the article attempts to answer the following questions: To what extent does the procedure meet the challenges of the information society and in what direction should it evolve due to the rapid development of information and communication technology in the world?

Based on culturological approach, the trends of social-pedagogical activity with the family, which were caused by society transformation under conditions of onset and progression of information age in Ukraine, are being substantiated. Extrapolations of modern family dynamics on social-pedagogical activity improvement towards raising family social education effectiveness allowed the substantiation of subjective (caused by the state of country’s transition from authoritarian to democratic society), as well as objective (transition from humanity’s industrial age to information age) trends. Subjective trends are: supporting a “socially healthy” family type for its positive image and influence on society strengthening (under conditions of demographic crisis and population die-out, a “socially healthy” is a family which – among other traditional traits – should be recognized as full, with many children and being pro-Ukrainian, as it must become the leading societal value, a part of national idea. This is exactly the family that can – especially through community organizations – support and help a family in crisis); facilitation of subsidiarity principle in family and local communities’ sociocultural environment interaction (recognition by local communities’ community organizations and family of its primacy and responsibility for community problems resolution, and, conversely, of family primacy for local community, which will become a preventive factor for family consumerism progression, especially for one with many children). Objective trends are: assistance in media- and cybersocialization within family (support of family’s positive social development – especially of the first and third age members – in global information space, particularly in its virtual part, as well as simultaneous prophylaxis of information slavery, cybernetic criminality, information aggression, consciousness manipulation, Internet addiction etc.); promotion of family’s regional (European) and global (formation of European and global social values, emotional and volitional qualities that will facilitate regional and universally human integration and consolidation, as well as family’s behavior as European and world social subject) sociality ascent through social-pedagogical activity with it. Prospects of further research are renewal of family social-pedagogical technologies and improvement of specialists’ professional education.

Recently, an increasing number of communicative practices are moving to the Internet: the intensity of language use on the Internet is increasing, where a special communicative environment, a special communicative space arises. A special area of research devoted to the study of the linguistics of the Internet is also emerging. Therefore, consideration of the term “Internet communication” should begin with the characteristics of the place in which this type of communication once appeared and is now actively functioning. The Internet is a worldwide system of interconnected computer networks for storing and transmitting information. Often referred to as the World Wide Web and the Global Network, as well as simply the Network. The main areas of use of the Internet are media, e-business, multimedia, communication, communication, etc. This definition primarily emphasizes the technological component of the Network. However, as part of our study, it is worth considering more “humanitarian” definitions. For example, researchers consider the Internet from the point of view of socio-philosophical positions, as a special phenomenon based on network principles of information exchange, “the interactivity of communication interactions, new ways of modeling objective reality, new technologies for transmitting information flows and a fundamentally new technology – personal computers”. Scientists consider the Internet through the prism of the sociology of communications, emphasizing that the Network represents “a man-made, informational and socio-psychoanthropological component of a person’s life context.” According to them, the Internet as a means of social communication reveals such binary properties as “activity / passivity of the social subject of the information world; the fragmentation/harmony of human social existence in the information society and the inconsistency/consistency of the content of social influence in the information world”. Business English, business discourse, and political discourse are interconnected in various ways, primarily because they all involve communication strategies aimed at achieving specific goals within their respective contexts.

The article addresses the problem of violence against the elderly people. The types of violence (physical, sexual, psychological, and economic) and their manifestations concerning this age category are revealed. It is noted that this phenomenon is latent, since official statistics is not available in the majority of European countries, and Ukraine in particular. Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to prove the urgency and timely social-pedagogical prevention of violence against the elderly people, as well as to substantiate effective ways of its minimization, using the pro-social potential of the information society. In order to realize this goal, it is necessary to apply such methods of research as analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization of results in relation to the stated problem. An analysis of the regulatory framework provides grounds for concluding that it is extremely difficult to gather sufficient evidence to justify the prosecution in court, due to the weak legal framework and vague definitions of the offense in the specific articles of the relevant codes. In this regard, the offender’s guilt is difficult to prove. As a result, offenders often avoid punishment and continue to commit violence. Social-pedagogical prevention of violence is a complex of measures aimed at preventing the violation of human rights in respect to its honor, dignity and living conditions. Such work should be carried out with all age categories: with children in order to prevent peer violence and protection of childhood, among parents in order to identify adequate methods of raising children and developing interpersonal skills (parents, relatives, neighbors and others); with representatives of various social institutions serving this category of persons in order to enhance professionalism and prevent professional burnout, with the elderly people in order to train them to protect themselves from violent attacks and to help others with the “peer-to-peer” technology. The emphasis is made on the conditions of the information society, which influence the development or suppression of such a phenomenon. In particular, having the information on ways to avoid violence, the work of the relevant institutions and providing the necessary services to victims of violence, a person has the opportunity to protect himself and others. The prospect of further research is the study of the structure and content of social-pedagogical support for the elderly people in the conditions of the information society.

The development of information society contributes to many transformations; they virtually encompass all the aspects of the contemporary world. However, not all the realms of transformations are subject to scrutiny to the very same degree. This paper is an attempt to acquaint its readers with the issues oftentimes evaded or even not picked up by researchers. The author in this paper presents the results of the research conducted among the students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in the realm of judging the risk resulting from the development of information society within the context of internal security as well as within the evaluation of the level of these dangers. The results of the author’s investigation indicate that there are many factors which statistically significantly determine the student’s beliefs in the scrutinized realm. Such determinants proved to be – among others- gender, the students’ field of study and the frequency of using the Internet etc.

The phenomenon of self-development in the context of European pedagogic as a complex process that finds its further progress in the context of up-to-date educational system is analyzed. Based on the analysis of original sources common tendencies of teachers’ self-development and its significance in the pedagogical process are revealed. The priority tasks of modern education acquire the new sound requiring the formation of a fully developed teachers able to productive activities at all levels. The main task of the society and pedagogy is not to influence the person, and to teach him/her self-development, the ability to reveal his/her own individuality, support him/her at the peak stages of development, and assistance in the selection of vectors of individual development, through their own example. The concept of pedagogical education of Ukraine has defined its aim as «the formation of a teacher who is able to develop the personality of the child and focuses on the personal and professional self-development and is ready to work creatively in educational institutions of different types». Therefore, a special value nowadays becomes the problem of self-development of future teachers. Analysis and interpretation of foreign educational experience let constructively and productively pick up experiences with the aim of self-development of future teachers in the national education space. Awakening an individual’s activity, cultivation of his/her subjectivity contributes to the transition from development, where he/she plays the role of a more or less passive object to self-development, when it performs the functions of a responsible creator of his/her lifestyle. The teacher who aims to contribute to the development of the student should be aware that the source of self-movement of the individual is the internal contradictions that arise in his life. Assistance in the work of self-development is necessary for the students, therefore, pedagogical support should be directed at self-determination and self-realization of the personality in educational space of higher education institutions, and hence the need to develop and implement mechanisms of pedagogical support of individual development of the student. The complexity of the process of self-development and its components contribute to the search for the own, individual path to personal and professional growth of the teacher, which is an important task of education for many centuries and to the present.
