Doprowadza on do postawienia pytań o istotę prawdy – samą możliwość istnienia jednej, uniwersalnej prawdy.

The article confirms the thesis that culture is understood in various ways. There are people who do not know culture and those who want to know more about it. Such a desire stems from the need to solve the problem that arises from different understandings of culture and from the fact that what some people call culture, others call anti-culture. The fact that the media are used in the search for the true image of culture is presented in the article through an analysis of the messages presented in the media. If we assume that the role of the media is to help people to discover the truth by discussing issues that are relevant to people’s lives, we can say that they truly undertake such a task when it comes to culture. The media emphasize the fact that values such as truth, goodness, and beauty are present in culture. All of these values come from God and lead to him. They make mankind need and search for culture continuously. Thanks to them, we can experience holistic development and understand more deeply what the essence of true humanity is. Without these divine values, human life-marked by false anthropocentrism-will always be filled with activities that can be described as “anti-culture.” On the basis of selected texts, the article demonstrates the dependence between recognizing true culture and accepting responsibility for it. This responsibility is expressed in a constant effort to broaden one’s horizons of thought, to engage in various areas of life, and to create-through true universal fraternity-various communities. This way, the proper development of not only culture, but also of humanity can take place. It is also the path which leads to an effective defense against secular humanism, which is so hostile to religion.
The crucial moment in Edith Stein’s life was the reading of Therese from Avila’s autobiography in 1921. Having read it, she declared this well-known sentence: Das ist die Wahrheit – „This is truth!”. In the first part the article shows Edith Stein as a person passionately and consequently searching the truth. The second part is an attempt to interpret of what the truth itself is. There is also an analysis of the meaning for Edith Stein of her confession uttered in the moment of her conversion in the light of Hans Urs von Balthasar’s theology (truth as áëçoeaéá and truth as emeth) and in consequence what the essence of her being a theological person was.
Clement of Alexandria (†253), one of the most eminent early Christian writers, is the pioneer of a very interesting theological conception of the truth. According to his teaching contained in the work Protreptikos the question of the truth should be the foundation of the preaching mission. The issue of the truth is a platform for dialogue between Christianity and the pagan world. The truth has its source in God and ultimately leads back to Him. In the mystery of God is contained the truth about the universe. By getting to know the truth of God man has a chance to get to know the world of nature, his place in it, and his vocation. The truth reveals the falsity of pagan cults and exposes false philosophical views. Its fullest revelation was the incarnation of Jesus Christ. It is thanks to him, that God showed His grace and again called the "descendants of heaven" to eternal glory.

To z Jego woli Logos przeobraził i zharmonizował makro- i mikrokosmos.
Human freedom is an extraordinary gift of God. It is intrinsically related to the truth and dignity of the human person created in God’s image. Freedom is a sign of God’s love for man and must be used properly. To understand the meaning of freedom, though requiring effort, will always bear much fruit. In fact, this understanding determines our moral life. Unfortunately, in contemporary society the essential bond between truth, the good and freedom has been largely lost or ignored. Yet, using and understanding this freedom is the primary task of every human being. Arriving at authentic freedom can be difficult because it depends upon fidelity to truth and love. The response to this nexus of freedom to truth and morality to faith is the essential form of every Christian vocation.
The article discusses the issues (the image of contemporary Siberia, the post-Soviet village, “little man” of our time) and the poetics of Senchin’s autobiographical trilogy and novels: "The Yeltyshevs, The Information, What do You Want?" in the context of interpretation of the term “new realism”. The article focuses on the relationship between reality and fiction, reality and language, biographical fact and its literary articulation, contemporary realization of category of typicality and representativeness. The problems described by Senchin were considered with regard to the literary tradition of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially the so-called “rural prose”.
At the time when Ajdukiewicz was developing his theory of meaning, he tried to avoid in his papers the term “truth”. This reluctance was the result of long lasting and severe difficulties with formulating a proper formal definition of that notion. Consequently, if the term “truth” occurs in his works from that period, the context is usually designed in such a way as to eliminate the slightest suspicion of providing any kind of a theory. Nevertheless, having no intention of formulating such a theory one might safely raise a question about the meaning of the adjective “true” within some (already formulated) theory of meaning. In fact, Ajdukiewicz poses such a question, though very cautiously, in one of his essays from that period. In this paper I discuss some consequences which his remarks may have on the rules of using this term.
W artykule podjęto zagadnienie demokracji w kontekście koncepcji filozoficznejprof. Roshwalda.
The issue of objectivity and validity of conscience is of great importance in understanding the functioning of conscience and man’s moral actions. Conscience is the axiological consciousness of the human act, which is co-constituted by intellect and will. Conscience accompanies the human act, witnesses it and, after reflection, assesses the act as either good or bad. Conscience is always subjective, because it is “my” conscience and “mine” is the judgement of conscience. However, when one thoroughly asserts their own actions, the kind of act it is, and whether it had good or bad intentions, then one’s conscience is objective. The objectivity of cognition of an act, in conscience and through conscience, relates to its validity. The objectivity of conscience is a condition sine qua non of its validity, which is traditionally understood as adaequatio intellectus et rei. In this case: as correspondence between a judgement of conscience and an act as the object of conscience. The objectivity and validity of judgement of conscience follows from its peculiarity and the peculiarity of its object, i.e. an act. Conscience is the axiological consciousness of one’s own (or someone else’s) act, which operates in the interior horizon of moral knowledge comprising norms of acting, of which the most significant is the principle: good needs to be cultivated, whereas evil needs to be avoided. Conscience is a subtle cognitive tool given to man in order for man to live humanely – a tool that is under man’s control.

Pope Francis, in his first encyclical Lumen fidei pays attention to one of the most important values in human life which is truth. A human being develops fully thanks to this value that affects all aspects of human life. Hence, Pope’s words in the encyclical were used to relate to mass media. The truth about man and the world that surrounds him should underpin the world of media, especially these days. As a result, people would be able to develop their potential fully and pursue the objective of their lives. In order to make the road complete faith and love should coexist, because these values complement each other.
The article presents a Hegelian view of Kant’s thing in itself in regard to Hegel’s understanding of truth. In it, I designate eight key fragments of The Phenomenology of Spirit, around which the analysis of the issue takes place. As a result, the boundaries have been defined in which Hegel wants to pursue his deliberations. Hegel does not want to think about what is independent of the cognizing subject, claiming that it does not concern us,philosophers because it is the task of religion. The truth for Hegel is what realizes itself among us so that it is fully available to us.

The title of the article is obviously provocative. The author does not think that truth can indeed work or express itself though violence. And yet, those who refer to timeless, natural truths concerning mankind, life and moral issues are often accused of violence and demagogy. Indeed, connections between truth and violence can be detected, however they concern particular attempts at unprecedented manipulations aimed at the truth. Obedience to the truth requires courage and effort and is not an easy matter. Therefore, today truth about the human condition, moral values or civilian obligations is commonly questioned. Violence can play a substantial role in the processes of creation or cognition; it also influences the transformations of knowledge and its meanings in social circulation as Andrzej Zybertowicz points out in his writings. Nowadays people think that, instead of truth, we should focus on the multitudes of individual narrations and of radically subjective interpretations, of which all are equally genuine. Truth itself is reduced to an arbitrarily determined product of authority – also the one held by mass media. The counterbalance to this kind of thinking is the teaching of John Paul II, who in a calm and balanced way reminds us of the relationship between truth and freedom and about the responsibility that truth generates. It is in fact a precisely ethical matter – which attitude mankind takes in its relationship to the truth and if it is ready to serve it. It is amazing that for many people truth is associated with enslavement. The author makes an attempt at explaining what the causes for this unsettling phenomenon are and also in which way the teachings of Pope John Paul II can help us to see the right perspective of the meaning of truth in the life of each individual, both in the aspect of individual consciousness and a collective experience of a nation or the whole of humanity. The article refers to the views of the Pope, expressed both in the encyclical "Veritatis Splendor" and in the context of other texts by John Paul II.
This article deals with the issue of truth in literature by considering Roman Ingarden’s account. He denies that literary work as a work of art can be true in a logical sense. As a purely intentional object, a literary work of art decides nothing about a transcendent world. The truth in a literary work, however, can be understood as its revelation.
