Według statystyk opublikowanych przez COTEC (Council of Occupational Therapists for the European Countries, Rada Terapii Zajęciowej Krajow Europejskich, 2013 r.) w 26. krajach europejskich i poza Unią Europejską dostępnych jest w sumie 290 programow studiow w zakresie terapii zajęciowej, zatwierdzonych przez Światową Federację Terapeutow Zajęciowych (World Federation of Occupational Therapists, WFOT) i innych 93 nie zatwierdzonych przez WFOT. W Republice Czeskiej terapeuci zajęciowi kształcą się w trybie trzyletnich studiow licencjackich, a program studiow magisterskich dostępny będzie we wrześniu 2014 r.

Occupational therapy is a healthcare field that focuses mainly on functional diagnostics regarding the activities of daily life (ADL), and, to this end, proposes occupational therapy interventions, including the prescription of assistive devices and the evaluation of living spaces with proposals for facilitation devices. Another objective of occupational therapy is a focus on the functional abilities of the upper extremities, especially the function of the hand, which is linked to cognitive functions. Occupational therapists perform cognitive behavioural training under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, and they also focus on prevocational rehabilitation in order to achieve the optimal quality of life for a person with a disability. According to statistics published by COTEC (Council of Occupational Therapists for the European Countries, 2013), a total of 290 study programs approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) and another 93 not approved by WFOT are available in the field of occupational therapy in 26 European countries and outside the European Union. Most schools are located in Germany and Great Britain. Since the individual European countries use different school systems, these study programmes also differ in some aspects. The study programmes are offered at higher education institutions, universities, polytechnic schools and professional colleges. In the Czech Republic, occupational therapists get their education in the three-year bachelor’s programme, and a new master’s degree program will be offered in September 2014. The bachelor’s study has been available in the Czech Republic since 1992. At present, a total of four universities in the Czech Republic offer education for healthcare specialization with a bachelor’s degree course in occupational therapy. This field can be studied at the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague, the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ostrava and the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. The programmes involve full-time study at most of the schools, while at the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem it is also available as a distance-learning programme.

Ukazane spojrzenie stanowi głos w dyskusji nad ujęciem historycznym i rozwojowym terapii zajęciowej.
The role of occupational therapy in acquiring employment To be satisfied with their life, people with disabilities need to fully participate in social life. By providing comprehensive rehabilitation, occupational therapy gives them an opportunity to choose their path in life and make decisions about their life - thanks to their being able to work, among other things. The authors present conditions necessary for people with disabilities to become capable of working that need to be included in therapy. They distinguish five stages of acquiring vocational skills and competence. These are: current analysis of mental and physical abilities, assessment of vocational potential, preparation for work, workplace accommodation and the final outcome - employment. They present outlines of procedures oriented at learning a trade by people with psychomotor disabilities, their vocational potential and conditions for working. Independence at work is closely related to the clinical condition of the person in therapy. It is not always possible to develop full competence; however, an optimal level should be aimed at that is appropriate to the current physical and mental abilities of a person with disability.

T. Nowackiego. Ukazuje, jaką rolę można przypisać pracom ręcznym w pracy i terapii osób niepełnosprawnych i w jakim stopniu praca ta przyczynia się do życia w społeczeństwie.
Music as a form of idea transmission and interpersonal communi-cation (mainly due its capability to reveal one’s emotions) is used successfully during the occupational therapy with seniors staying in institutions of support and care. The most often these are occupational therapy workshops and nursing homes. Furthermore, this form of therapy is used informally in other institu-tions, such as the universities of the third age or senior clubs. It can either take the passive form – listening to music, but also the active – practicing music (for example: singing, composing). Music improves mental state, but it also affects human physical state. Firstly, music prevents; secondly, it rehabilitates; thirdly, it corrects and fourthly, it cures.

Occupational therapy is associated with all means and stages of rehabilitation, despite being considered a healthcare field in the Czech Republic. In the European countries and worldwide, the trend in recent years suggests the important role of occupational therapy not only in healthcare but also in the social sphere. Occupational therapy is an integral part of rehabilitation. Its aim is to preserve or restore a person’s abilities through the use of meaningful activities and employment. Meaningful activities are selected individually for each individual of any age category according to the importance so that they can manage their routine daily living and the occupational, educational, social, leisure and recreational activities that are essential to them. Occupational therapists diagnose the functional condition of an individual, including the diagnosis of their functional abilities to manage activities of daily living, cognitive functions in terms of activities of daily living, motor skills and the function of the upper extremities, prevocational rehabilitation for the purpose of occupational and educational rehabilitation, diagnosis of leisure activities that an individual is able to perform, and diagnosis of environmental factors in relation to facilitators and barriers. Based on the results of the examinations and the diagnosis, the occupational therapist designs a short- and long-term occupational therapy plan and recommends customized occupational therapy in order to achieve the maximum possible quality of life. Occupational therapy in healthcare is conducted as prescribed by a doctor.

Terapeuci zajęciowi oceniają stan funkcjonalny danej osoby, w tym jej funkcjonalne zdolności do wykonywania codziennych czynności, funkcje poznawcze w zakresie codziennych czynności, umiejętności motoryczne i funkcje kończyn górnych. W oparciu o wyniki przeprowadzonych badań i diagnozę, terapeuta zajęciowy opracowuje krótko- i długoterminowy plan terapii zajęciowej oraz zaleca dostosowaną terapię zajęciową w celu osiągnięcia możliwie maksymalnej jakości życia. Terapię zajęciową w opiece zdrowotnej prowadzi się zgodnie z zaleceniami lekarza.

Artykuł został poświęcony scharakteryzowaniu dojrzałości emocjonalno-społecznej sześciolatków w kontekście kształtowania gotowości do pisania. Jest to ważny obszar osiągania zdolności do kreślenia znaków graficznych, gdyż umożliwia dziecku rozwijanie samodzielności, wytrwałości i zdobywania umiejętności, panowania nad emocjami.
