The article aims to indicate different perspectives of film education. According to the author, three possible strategies can be identified: education to film (“film studies” strategy), education in film (“anthropological” strategy) and education through film (“hermeneutic” strategy). In traditional conceptions of cultural education, film education was treated as part of aesthetic education which highlighted the aspect of preparing the viewer as an “expert” with knowledge of the art discipline, corresponding to the “film studies’ strategy”. In the “anthropological strategy”, film is treated as a reflection of society, its fears, and dominant narratives. The viewer’s expectations are different and moreover the competence of the art theorist is replaced by knowledge of culture and society and the changes taking place within it. From an educational point of view, however, the most interesting perspective is the “hermeneutic” one that treats film as a partner in dialogue, when the educational potential of a film text is determined not by its “content” but by the “biographical capital” of the viewer.
The article analyses an interesting case of cultural education outside the majority educational system based on a series of books by Viktoria Alagueva. The publication of these books was an important impetus for the development of knowledge about Buryat culture among Russian- speaking Buryats, who in the times of the Soviet Union did not have the opportunity to transmit their own culture through the educational system, and for whom the transmission of the Buryat language and culture is still difficult in the post-Soviet era. The article is based on two types of sources. The first is Alagueva’s books themselves and an analysis of their content. The second is observational and interview data conducted as part of field research on the revival of Buryat culture. In the article, I show that well-prepared educational materials can significantly influence not only young generations of representatives of national and ethnic minorities but can also have a positive impact on adult education.
The article tries to resemble the form of a review, however, the specific form of the reviewed artifact – a website that is updated daily – means that both the content and the method of its presentation, due to their variability, defy the purpose of such a description. The text therefore focuses on the idea of the website’s functioning and possible objections to the methods of presenting the content.

The progressing development of technologies has led to the formation of artificial intelligence, and its generative variety as well as virtual platforms. The creation of alternative realities is affecting education and culture as well. Immersive tools based on artificial intelligence, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are being adapted to the audience. The technologies are becoming tools for cultural education, and the promotion of cultural assets while leading to their digitization, dissemination, as well as democratization. This article attempts to describe the ways in which artificial intelligence tools – VR and AR – can be used in education, with a focus on cultural education. The author conducts a literature review, moreover – inspired by digital ethnography – conducts participant and non-participant observation, as well as a survey targeting educational and cultural audiences, and explores how VR and AR tools can be used in education and cultural promotion. A review of applications discusses innovative applications of new technologies in education, considering its cultural version .i.e. the virtual museums and art galleries as well as platforms that enable presentation and absorption of knowledge assuming simultaneous promotion of cultural goods. The analysis of research results leads to the identification of the potential of the technologies in question in cultural education; like the opportunities and challenges of cultural promotion.
The publication aim is to familiarize the concept of education for culture and report how it is understood among cultural animators and educators in the Podlasie region, Poland. The article presents academic definitions of education for culture, similarities and differences between this concept and other terms, such as cultural education, intercultural education and multicultural education. Furthermore, it presents the ways of defining the concept of education for culture by people involved in the cultural activities in Podlasie region. Comparison of these perspectives shows the specifics of local cultural animators and educators – their ideas, aspirations and problems. Apparently, their definitions are varied by the type of institution they represent, still, the most common way of defining education for culture is conservative, close to the definition of cultural education.
Media addiction is one of the most serious behavioral addictions today. The aim of the article is to reflect on the role of Polish language teachers in the prevention of e-addictions. This text is pioneering. It presents specific methodological proposals that teachers can use in the educational process. They are based on the analysis and interpretation of various cultural texts (story, article, images), supplemented with selected content from the field of humanities and social sciences.
The aim of the article is to notice the cultural-cognitive character of the contemporary travel. Chasing the exotic, understood as a trial to save the authentic, has gained much strength in the world threatened by cultural unification. The vision of the world not touched by the Western culture has become a perfect selling material. This trend has been confirmed by incredibly popular traveling programs, as well as a rich and original offer of the traveling agencies, tempting clients with meeting the world of the Masai, Hamer or Mursi tribes. In the age of globalization the cultural tourism is an important alternative to mass travel, mainly aimed at entertainment.

The following article focuses on the transfer of contents connected with cultural education of children and youth at various stages of schooling according to the applicable Curriculum of Preschool Education and Common Education in Primary and Secondary Schools. It emphasizes the possibilities of cross-track teaching of children and adolescents with cooperation with museum-like institutions, which due to their educational offers consistent with the curriculum basis can not only supplement and enrich teaching curriculums, but as well realize their basic assumptions. The author of the article analyses the teaching curriculum of selected subjects in the context of cultural education, she also indicates the opportunities of the selected didactical methods in the scope of the process of acquiring knowledge by students with the use of a educational offer of a museum.
The subject matter of the article is to discuss the Polish society participation in a broadly defined contemporary culture. Given the continuing transformation of the cultural environment and current research and analysis, the author proposes a new, broader perspective on the phenomenon of “participation in culture,” which requires the redefinition of basic concepts such as participation (defined traditionally as passive participation, or consumption of cultural goods) and culture (moving away from the “narrow definition”). The article attempts to define, based on current reports and studies: the modern “cultured man”, what are his needs, expectations, demands to institutions of culture and what are the main barriers that block access to culture.
In this article I present some of the most popular mobile museum applications – their content, accessibility, and finally the possibility to use them in the educational process. In the public opinion these applications are not yet seen as a form of education or useful fun, but rather as a feature of mobile devices. Therefore, in their analysis, I focused on their potential for cultural education. Many museum and educational applications can be attributed to fulfill several important functions of education – developmental, educational, cognitive, expressive, culture-creating and finally recreational and ludic. Mobility is therefore an important goal of education nowadays, and the modern facilities can help to develop competencies that are important from the perspective of cultural education, such as understanding the needs of training and cultural development in the process of lifelong learning, valuing traditions and cultural heritage.

The paper includes the description of the experience gained during the evaluation of the Very Young Culture program (Bardzo Młoda Kultura – BMK). Very Young Culture is an innovative program whose main goal is to strengthen the organizations operating in the field of cultural education and create trans-sectoral network of entities cooperating in this field. The long term goal was to shape young people’s open attitudes, tolerance and the ability to participate critically in culture. The program’s innovation lies in the way it was managed. The author of the program is prof. Marek Krajewski from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. The program had a nationwide range and was carried out at the regional level. The coordinator of the program was the National Center for Culture and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The program operated on three levels - central, regional and local, and each of them provided for the implementation of an evaluation study. This article refers to the regional part of the BMK program carried out in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The evaluation research used the triangulation of both qualitative and quantitative methods to better capture the value of the program from the perspective of different stakeholders. The method of evaluation based on the theory of the program with the dominance of qualitative methods was used. The evaluation was continuous and was intended as a learning mechanism in the implementation of the program. The problem in the evaluation of the program was the immeasurability of long-term results. For example, it was difficult to express the value of social and cultural capital, which were strengthened as a result of the program. In view of such long-term goals, an evaluation was based on short-term variables, such as the self-assessment of competences acquired by the program participants and the resulting cooperation network. The article will present the best solutions for measuring the results of the program realized in the field of culture and the proposal to measure long-term results based on existing data banks from various social research cases. The studies used a constructivist approach to evaluation. The experience gained allows to formulate conclusions regarding strengths and limitations of this approach.

Marek Krajewski z Uniwersytetu Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Program miał zasięg ogólnokrajowy i został przeprowadzony na poziomie regionalnym. Koordynatorem programu było Narodowe Centrum Kultury oraz Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego. Program działał na trzech poziomach: centralnym, regionalnym i lokalnym, i na każdym z nich przewidziano przeprowadzenie badania ewaluacyjnego. Niniejszy artykuł odnosi się do regionalnej części programu BMK przeprowadzonej w województwie lubelskim. W badaniu ewaluacyjnym zastosowano triangulację zarówno metod jakościowych, jak i ilościowych, aby lepiej uchwycić wartość programu z perspektywy różnych zainteresowanych stron. W badaniach zastosowano konstruktywistyczne podejście do ewaluacji.
The article indicates the actual state of education through theatre in Polish schools, hinting at unsettling occurrences and erroneous conduct by the teacher. It also undertakes an initial attempt to capture the model of a theatre based on kinetic activities, inspired by children’s situations and the problems which occur in their lives.

Większość koncepcji edukacji kulturalnej zakłada bowiem przygotowanie człowieka do samodzielnego, twórczego i aktywnego funkcjonowania w rzeczywistości społeczno-kulturowej.

The article is a voice in the discussion on the validity of the term „cultural education” and the sphere of educational practice to which it relates. The author refers to the thesis proclaimed by some researchers and practitioners that „cultural education” is an out-of-date category. In the first part of the article, she presents the critique of the concept of cultural education. Critics accuse that the concept is being based on an obsolete, narrow and valuing definition of culture. They also point out that the tasks of cultural education are inadequate to the needs of contemporary democratic society, because they are formulated narrowly and mainly concern preparation for the reception of culture in a narrow sense (usually as an artistic culture). These accusations are related to the genesis of cultural education, as its opponents believe. They say that it was created in the 1940s, that is in completely different socio-cultural and political realities, which makes it today out-of-date. In the next part, the author tries to show that these allegations are not entirely right and justified. According to the author, it is not true that all concepts of cultural education are based on a narrow valuing culture definition and that tasks are reduced only to prepare people for the reception of culture. Most of the concepts of cultural education assume the prepara- tion of a person for independent, creative and active participation in the socio-cultural world. In addition, the author disagrees with the view that cultural education is anachronistic because it was created in the 1940s. She claims that the term “cultural education” was used in Poland in academic literature for the first time in the 1980s and from then on, the concepts of cultural education began to develop. At the end, the author indicates that it is not justified to reject the term “cultural education” and the related educational approaches. She emphasizes that the diversity of the concepts of cultural education is a value in keeping with the realities of a democratic and pluralistic society, where different approaches can and should coexist.
The article World of the “silent majority as the context of the cultural education – about source of the cultural animation of the resistance” was conceived from the need of seek new forms of cultural education based on the formation process. The author points to the need for such a search in the face of accelerating civilizational development – lightning development of the communication technology and production methods, and hence the shaping of new forms of social relations. The changes which are taking place are questioning even the most elementary methods of the education. Using the terminology taken from the theories of Jean Baudrillard and Theodor Adorno the author tries to demonstrate that the educational system of social-adaptive character is standing in the face of “silent majority” – in the face of the world after the society, which as a result stops fulfilling its role. Basing his reflection on critical concepts of education, model of repressive society and model of “silent majority” the author points to meaning of diverse forms of violence (e.g. hierarchization of society, system of penalties and awards) for the reproduction of these phenomena in the institutionalized educational system. The essential part of the article constitutes seeking possibilities to create foundations for forms of cultural education taking ongoing changes into account. The author seeks such a possibility in forms of animation activities concentrated on creative process and its aspects which constitute the source of the resistance.
This article attempts to define cultural education as a part of personality formation. The rank and importance of the achievements of Polish social pedagogy is discerned. By referring to its leading creators: Helena Radlińska, Stefania Sempołowska, Irena Sendlerowa, Janusz Korczak, and Henryk Jordan, the author shows that concern for socially marginalized groups has always been at the centre of pedagogical activities. At the same time, attention towards a legal culture was a distinct feature of social pedagogy and still remains a challenge for cultural education.
