Liturgia to żywy organizm, w którym Bóg wychodzi do człowieka i zaprasza go do zaangażowanego w zbawczy dialogu. W tekście artykułu możemy odnaleźć refleksję dotyczącą relacji liturgii, jej porządku i wolności do popkultury, w której przychodzi nam żyć.

Liturgy is a living thing, in which God reaches people, and invites them to engage in a dialogue aimed at salvation. During the liturgy, the mystery of human and God’s freedom meet, and are based on law and order. Furthermore, they constitute an exceptional space, in which people are able to wholly express themselves and follow the way leading to salvation. This uncanny meeting initiates the creation of man’s cultural expressions. In fact, people who experience God describe themselves, the world around them and others through the prism of „God’s key”, and therefore they discern values and qualities praised by God. Moreover, not only do people create, but they are also created by culture in their religious, social, and family lives. Nevertheless, when someone starts to reject God and begins to devise everything by himself, the liturgical dialogue aimed at salvation becomes aggravated or even impossible. In that case, the act of creating is not influenced by God’s will, but becomes a purely anthropocentric act, which means that a person regards himself as if he was in the centre of the universe. Thereby, in such an act of creating, it is hardly possible to find an exceptional liturgical space in which God meets with a human. What is more, a hostile aura can be sensed, and it seems to call into question the almightiness of God. Hence, by looking at today’s developed world, it can be said that rather than being dominated by culture, it is controlled by pop culture, which is an expression of the contemporary people’s belief in their anthropocentricity. This article is a reflection concerning the relationship between pop culture and the liturgy, including its order and freedom. Without providing the readers with a definite answer, it also constitutes an attempt to cogitate on what the attitude of the church towards pop culture should be, considering the fact that it permeates the lives of contemporary people.

This paper briefly shows how Summa Theologiae is composed. We may notice that the structure of Summa results from the careful and precise consideration, further, it perfectly embodies the Scholastic mode for assesing arguments. The remarkable achievement of Aquinas is to demonstrate, through the structure of intellectual reasoning, the rational structure of the universe. Universal idea, reason understood as a principle for a methodological inquiry, serves as the overall rule both for intellectual and aesthetic work. We find its expression in the Medieval architecture, especially in Gothic cathedrals.

Chaos and order are the two categories that are perceived curiously in education. The intention of the author is to show them in different configurations. On one hand the author presents how to go over to legal order from organizational chaos and on the other hand she proves that one can go through chaos to order, for example class order, with the use of appropriate methods. Finally, entering into the process of teaching-learning, the author presents the evidence to support that chaos is not always synonymous with disorder. It also has its order which is a source of infinite possibilities.

The aim of this article is to analyse the possibility of the existence of a perfect state in the light of Blaise Pascal’s reflections on justice and law. The work juxtaposes utopian visions of ideal states, based on the moral perfection of citizens, as well as modern concepts derived from natural law or the social contract, with Pascal’s critical perspective, which emphasized the sinful human nature and the inevitable link between law and force or coercion. The analysis is based on seventeenth-century philosophical and political literature as well as on interpretations of Pascal’s texts. The main focus is on his reflections on the limitations of human justice and the need for law to maintain order and ensure security. The article argues that a perfect state in the earthly sense is impossible, and that true justice belongs only to the divine sphere. The originality of the study lies in presenting Pascal as a critic of rationalist utopias, one who showed that the state cannot be perfect, even though its existence ultimately has its source in God.

Ensuring order and safety in the area of a university is a rector’s duty. Most often this obligation is realized by a university guard which status should be regulated by the statute. The area of the university is determined by an agreement of the university and a municipality in which the university is located. Mostly, public guards have limited access to the university premises and moreover, there are obligated to leave it on the request of the rector. The freedom of universities from the intervention of public guards is a matter of their autonomy.

Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu rządzenia i powiązanych z nim systemowych ograniczeń ujmowanych z perspektywy relacji międzynarodowych. Autor stawia fundamentalne pytanie o możliwość rządzenia bez udziału rządu lokując je w kontekście ewolucji stosunków międzynarodowych i narastającej współzależności systemów i sub-systemów społecznych.

The article deals with the issue of governance and related systemic limitations, as viewed from the perspective of international relations. In the context of evolving international relations and the increasing interdependence of social systems and subsystems, the author poses a fundamental question as to whether there might be governance without a government - a phenomenon accounted for by invoking interactions along - as well as between - dimensions of an ideological, behavioural and institutional nature.

Augustyn.

The issue of peace was mentioned by patristic authors in various contexts. One of them is an interpretation of the term man of peace (Ps 37:37) and, strictly connected to this term, the blessing upon peacemakers (Matt 5:9). The textual analysis of the Pre-Constantinian Church Fathers proves that the above terms had a mainly moral meaning. Peace, conceived as internal order and harmony, had to be an element of the Christian personality, an attribute of every follower of Christ. Every Christian should radiate this internal peace. In this conception, peace did not refer to the political realm, and that can be explained by the situation and status of Christian believers in the pre-Constantinian period. Once that situation was changed, the Christian authors’ approach to peace was changed as well, with St. Augustine being a good example and proof of that altered viewpoint.

The development of varied and complex technologies led to the creation of cyberspace, both available and open to everyone. The new virtual reality does not, however, solely develop based on new laws and regulations, but something which determined the development of both an individual man and the whole mankind. The virtual world reflects the rules of the real one since their existence is analogous. This analogy of existence enables to ask a question about the connection between a religious concept of the world and what we find in cyberspace. This article aims to analyze some essential elements of the Christian view of the world and their repercussions for the virtual world.

According to Karl Popper, Plato’s project of an „ideal” organization polis is anti-democratic, totalitarian and racist, and the law on which it is based, is inherently tyrannical, oppressive and diminishing the dignity and freedom of the citizens. On the other hand, according to Eric Voegelin, the same project is therapeutic in its nature – it is an upbringing measure, which aims to restore order, the spiritual unity of polis and provide the citizens with happiness. In my paper, I draw attention to the facts that allow to compare the proposals of both researchers: first of all that both find in the philosophy of Plato the „diagnostic” dimension and that they also see the need for therapy. Basically, however, they differ when it comes to its concretization. In the further part of the article I am pointing to the presumptions, the adoption of which led to the formulation of such extreme opinions. Therefore, I show the assumptions that influenced the fact that Popper saw in Plato tyrannical legislator and Voegelin someone who heals the spiritual condition of polis.

Sustainable development is a critically important and complex issue being addressed on a global scale. While the international community recognizes its significance, reaching a consensus on the necessary course of action remains a challenge. Extensive consultations have taken place, yet concrete measures to address pressing environmental concerns, such as the impact of global warming and climate change, still need to be included. Notably, global institutions, including the United Nations, have prioritized sustainable development on the international agenda, but conclusive strides toward mitigating these challenges still need to be made.

The article analyzes, present in the Christian tradition from St. Augustine, category ordo caritatis. Presents it from a historical perspective and makes an attempt to show that it is current, as well as shows the possibility of referring it to problems of migration in the contemporary world. The article emphasizes that category ordo caritatis was invoked whenever it was necessary to answer the question: how and who we should help in a situation when we cannot help them all? The author argues that the category ordo caritatis is still current (in a spirit of the conciliar reform) and can be related to contemporary problems of migration. This category prevents from being driven in the process of helping by only emotions, recalls the need for rational actions and the need for logic and order.

The modern world is not safe, and many factors can be said to justify this. Therefore, in my paper I will try to analyse the categories of security arising from the Polish Electoral Code, juxtapose them with the idea of security arising from the Venice Commission’s Code of Good Practice in Electoral Matters. Other normative acts, views of selected scholarship and court rulings will also form the basis of my study. In conclusions, I will try to say which security categories can be linked to the various principles governing elections. In connection with the real threat to security, undertaking consideration of the title issue is important. The purpose of the study will be to identify a de lege ferenda proposal as part of building state resilience.

The article attempts to shed light on the meaning of the terms harmonie and synapsis. The motivation for this attempt is the fact that two further terms, sympheron and diapheron, were used in the context of the original two. It might seem that the use of similar terms suggests a similar meaning. Our analyses demonstrated, however, that Heraclitus refers the two terms to different events. In case of harmonie it is the compatibility of two radically opposing elements, whose nature is captured by the phrase in sentence B8, namely: to antiksun. In case of synapsis it is the combination of two elements, i.e. a certain common element, for instance a shared border. The fact that the terms sympheron and diapheron are used to describe both of them may be result of the Heraclitus’ search for a rule (gnome) that rules everything. It may bring a possibility of referring to logos in a direct way.
PL
