Mauritius’s economic performance since its independence has been called “the Mauritian miracle” and the “success of Africa” (Romer, 1992; Frankel, 2010; Stiglitz, 2011). However, the future growth potential is more uncertain. In this paper, we use growth accounting to analyze the sources of past growth and project potential ranges of future growth through 2033 under various policies. Growth averaged 4½ percent over the past 20 years. Our baseline suggests future growth rates around 3¼ percent, but growth could reach 4–5 percent with strong pro-active policies including (i) improving investment and savings rates; (ii) improving the efficiency of social spending and public enterprise reforms; (iii) investment in education and education reforms; (iii) labor market reforms; and (iv) further measures to reduce bottlenecks and increase productivity. With policies capable of generating 5 percent growth, Mauritius could reach high-income status in 2021, 4 years earlier than under the baseline.
A large theoretical and empirical literature has focused on the impact of financial deepening on economic growth throughout the world. This paper contributes to the literature by investigating whether this impact differs across regions, income levels, and types of economy. Using a rich data set for 150 countries for the period 1975–2005, dynamic panel estimation results suggest that the bene ficial effect of financial deepening on economic growth in fact displays measurable heterogeneity; it is generally smaller in oil exporting countries; in certain regions, such as the Middle East and North Africa (MENA); and in lower-income countries. Further analysis suggests that these differences might be driven by the degree of competition, and related to differences in the ability to provide widespread access to financial services.

The role of micro-enterprises in the economy is invaluable. Their growth contributes to the increase of human capital, and influences necessary changes in the employment structure. Conducted research involved two groups of project participants, who took part in analogical projects. The first group consisted of people who had finished their education up to the age of 30, and the second group consisted of people aged above 50. The conditions for participation were the age criteria and having an unemployed person status. In the research, mostly statistical methods and the questionnaire method were used, consisting of presenting the participants with a specifically designed survey. The main aim of the research was to identify the main barriers of development of the established enterprises, and verification of the number of enterprises that decided to continue their commercial activity after the obligatory period imposed by the project. The results of the research constitute a different observation that the previous researches which have shown that it has been mainly people over 50 years old which were characterized by a higher risk than young people. At the same time, the received results may find use in future programs concerning promoting entrepreneurship of excluded people, and also better fit those projects to their needs. The need of conducting broader analysis covering a larger number of project participants from various regions, should also be considered.

Today, many works are being written on the subject, in which acedia is discussed both from the side of psychology and Christian austerity. The article examines the complex issue of acedia, its sources, symptoms and remedies to help combat it. This topic is particularly important in these days so marked by sadness and depression, so it is all the more necessary to study this issue in order to bring help to suffering people.
Aim The present study was carried out to examine the impact of farm harvest prices on the income of the farmers from sugarcane crop in Haryana, India. It also addresses the critical issue of acreage response to prices in the agricultural sector Material and methods It pertains to the whole of the state of Haryana, and the data for area, prices, yield, production, and income were collected, systematized and analyzed for the period 1982/83 to 2021/22 by dividing the whole study period into four periods. Farmers take decisions about crop and quantity based on the crop prices that affect the area allocation for different crops. To evaluate the acreage response concerning the price impact on relative profitability, the compiled data were analyzed by performing the Nerlovian distributed lag method. Results The findings emphasize that price remained the most instrumental factor in comparison to yield in increasing farm income from sugarcane crops. The examination of the relationship between the price of sugarcane and other selected variables highlights that income has a higher degree of correlation with the price of sugarcane. In the majority of cases the relative crop of sugarcane, i.e., paddy was found more profitable. Conclusions To evaluate the acreage response concerning the price impact on relative profitability, the compiled data were analyzed by performing the Nerlovian distributed lag method. It was established by the study that farmers found the relative crop of sugarcane and paddy more profitable in significant cases.

Do analizy przyjęto dane statystyczne Eurostatu, opisujące istotne procesy ekonomiczno-społeczne we wszystkich krajach UE-28.

The scope of the paper pertains to the area of pedagogy that promotes the concept of integrated education, at the same time giving high priority to the environmental conditions that enhance the child’s growth and, in particular, her/his autonomy, freedom, intellectual and active creativity as well as prosocial behaviour. The proposal to return to the roots that lie in human nature and in the surrounding environment, seems to us particularly interesting, both for children living in rural environments and those from big cities. Being able to develop a personal bond with nature becomes a child’s healthy and positive experience, exerting its influence on all dimensions of her/his overall development.

The MSME sector occupies a position of strategic significance in the Indian economic structure. This sector contributes nearly eight per cent to country’s GDP, employing over 80 million people in nearly 36 million widely-dispersed enterprises across the country; accounting for 45 per cent of manufactured output, 40 per cent of the country’s total export, and producing more than 8000 valueadded products ranging from traditional to high-tech. Furthermore, these enterprises are the nurseries for innovation and entrepreneurship, which will be key to the future growth of India. It is also an acknowledged fact that this sector can help realise the target of the proposed National Manufacturing Policy to enhance the share of manufacturing in GDP to 25 per cent and to create 100 million jobs by the end of 2022, as well as to foster growth and take India from its present two trillion dollar economy to a 20 trillion dollar economy. Despite the sector’s high enthusiasm and inherent capabilities to grow, its growth story still faces a number of challenges. In this light, the present paper examines the role of Indian MSMEs in India’s economic growth and explores various problems faced by the sector. The paper also attempts to discuss various policy measures undertaken by the Government to strengthen Indian MSMEs. Finally, the paper proposes strategies aimed at strengthening the sector to enable it to unleash its growth potential and help make India a 20 trillion dollar economy.
