Agnieszka Jędrzejowska, Child with Down Syndrome in a peer group. Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, no. 27, Poznań 2019. Pp. 351–372.Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. e-ISSN 2658-283X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.27.16 The attitude towards people with disabilities has changed over the last century. Both deinstitutionalisation as well as integration and normalisation allowed many people with intellectual disabilities to improve their social situation. An example of such a systemic solution supporting the development of disabled persons are integration groups. The subject of this article is a report from a pilot study on the functioning of a group of children with Down syndrome within an integration group. The objective of this study was the presentation of the reasonability of inclusion within the integration group of children with Down’s Syndrome (with the homogeneous dysfunction). Observation and sociometric tests covered children with Down syndrome from two integration groups from kindergarten no. 109 in Wrocław, Poland. I consider the essence of integration, following A. Maciarz, to be the feeling of social bonds experienced by a disabled individual, a sense of belonging to a group, as well as the conviction that one is accepted by it, despite the fact that the standards adopted by their community are not always and not fully met by them. The research was carried out for six months in a kindergarten where I was a special educator.

The main goal of this paper is to explicitly test a research hypothesis that there was no integration effect among the U.S. and the eight Central and Eastern European (CEE) stock markets during the 2007-2009 Global Financial Crisis (GFC). As growing international integration could lead to a progressive increase in cross-market correlations, the evaluation of integration was carried out by applying equality tests of correlation matrices computed over non-overlapping subsamples: the pre-crisis and crisis periods, in the group of investigated markets. The crisis periods are formally established based on a statistical method of dividing market states into bullish and bearish markets. The sample period May 2004-April 2014 includes the 2007 U.S. subprime financial crisis. The robustness analysis of the integration tests with respect to various data frequencies is provided. The empirical results are not homogeneous and they depend both on the integration test and data frequency. Consequently, it is not possible to conclude whether integration between the investigated markets is present.

The article focuses on the application of the possibilities of collecting narratives and their analysis in the reconstruction process of migration of people to the new country - in Slovakia. The analysis of the particular data gained by fieldwork research using the oral history method comparative with the historical and statistic dates. These facts offer not only relevant information documenting the real process of the migration, but also create the network of microprobes (case study) on the basis of specific experienced events of the direct participants of migration, as well as the reflection in memory of the resettled. Fieldwork research was in the region of South Slovakia - around Nové Zámky and Komárno cities. The aim of this approach is to interpret individually experience “small history” of the context of “big history”, specifically, one post-war phase of migration, which occurred in this area of Central Europe in the period from 1946 to 1948.

This article attempts to look at migration from an anthropological perspective, especially at the issues of integration and the changes seen in the identity of migrants. Motivation and readiness for change, along with the existing stereotypes and personal experiences of a migrant, constitute successful adaptation in a new place of residence. One of the most important elements of integration in a new society is the knowledge of this group’s language, it facilitates entering the community and is very important in terms of the reproduction of one’s identity in the new place of residence. The recreation of one’s identity is necessary, because a migrant is placed in a completely new reality in which his / her previous social role and status are different. The creation of identity happens in between the two concepts of familiarity and foreignness. The description of the above-mentioned topics was based on the partially structured interviews with Brazilians living in Poznań for at least 2 years. The bibliographies included form the basis of the anthropological analysis of migration.

Political participation of immigrants (expressed for example by their participation in elections, representation in political parties or in the leadership functions of a city) is now seen as one of the key elements supporting their integration into the major society. In France was already in 1983 founded civil association called Votation citoyenne (Civil vote), but despite more than 30 years of its campaigns and diligent work, the results obtained are rather vague. So far, the law that would give to the foreigners from the countries outside of the EU the right to vote and to be elected at least in the local elections was only approved but did not enter into the force. However, between the years 2001 and 2008, this form of their participation in political life had bigger dynamics in the region of Basse-Normandie than in the region of Paris.

For several years, the European Union (EU) has been increasing its international presence and moving into the role of a global security actor. To support the goal of greater crisis management capabilities, European security integration (ESI) has been deepening. This article therefore examines an Ell operation - the European Union Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) - with the aim of gauging the success of the EU's efforts at ESI. To determine the success of EUTM Mali and thus of ESI, three propositions are examined: if EUTM Mali is a security operation showing successful security integration, there will be evidence of (i) broad participation, (ii) financial burden-sharing and (iii) the successful incorporation of troops and equipment. The first and third propositions are supported whereas the second does not receive as much support. Overall, EUTM Mali shows considerable success and bodes well for further ESI.

Economic and debt crises, as well as the crisis of migration and identity have exacerbated divisions within the European Union and strengthened disintegration forces among EU Member States. The key dilemma currently faced along the way to EU integration regards the nature and extent of multipolarity trends at the regional level. The aim of this study is an analysis of the risk of disintegration of the European Union in its current form. The research problem is an attempt at answering the question whether the proposed ‘multi-speed Europe’ will contribute to EU’s disintegration or rather to its development in another format. The whole structure of the paper and the analysis performed serve this purpose. The following research hypothesis has been adopted: implementation of a multi-speed Europe policy will transform the current process of European integration into its opposite and thus cause serious economic and political consequences of the collapse of this form of integration project. The hypothesis has been positively verified. The following research methods were employed in the analysis: historical (the essence and meaning of the disintegration concept in doctrines and the literature), content analysis (research into the solutions adopted), as well as a quantitative and qualitative method (analysis of figures). The result of the research performed is a description of the risks and threats that will occur if the multi-speed Europe policy is continued and Member States depart from the original integration model.

This article examines, in a comparative perspective, the integration policy of the two, in many respects, very similar, neutral states, with particular emphasis on the period after the signing of the Single European Act. Despite the converging political and economic objectives, the decisions of both countries were determined by different economic and political conditions. For Austria, the integration processes were perceived as an important step, towards reconstruction of the economy, the abolition of trade barriers with the most important economic partner. In political terms integration – enhanced Austria’s position within European Community. Unlike the Austrian Government, the authorities in Bern have acted under much more polarized conditions. Neutrality played still very important role in its international policies and the social fears connected mostly to the loss of political and economic independence were vivid. The Swiss authorities were thus forced to choose the bilateral path, which was not preferred by EU countries, but more socially acceptable, and therefore easier to implement.

The aim of this paper is to identify social integration barriers of Germans in Poland. The research method applied to attain this purpose is secondary data analysis focused on opinion polls results. In the initial part of the article the theoretical context of the integration processes is presented. Then, chosen aspects of general attitudes of Poles towards foreigners and their immigration are discussed. Finally, opinions on Germans and their presence in Poland are analysed. The conducted analysis includes the public opinion dynamics and results in an attempt to predict future attitudes of Poles towards Germans.

In the article deals with the problem of the "invisibility" of Poles in Germany. In this way, West Germany has been writing and talking about Polish migrants for several years. Their "invisibility" is supposed to result from trouble-free integration, placed as a role model for others. In fact, this is an expression of one-sided integration so far, which, to be complete, should become a two-way process, more engaging with members of the host society. In the text, I analyze, what "invisibility" means, how it manifests itself, what migrants think about it, and what are its positive and negative aspects. I also consider whether there are opportunities to "come out of the shadows" and what Poles have a chance to achieve through this. The article is based on qualitative research (interviews and observations) carried out as part of two research projects focused on the phenomenon of integration of Polish migrants in Germany

The aim of this article is to discuss the dilemmas over the integration of accounting in EU member states. The dilemma could be divided into the following main groups. Dilemma of the user of financial statements. This dilemma consists in determining for whom the integration of accounting in EU is crucial, and who is the intended beneficiary of integration. Dilemma arising from the lack of theoretical framework for drafting directives and standards: the accounting paradigm assuming that accounting is strictly quantitative. Accounting is a social science, whereas the accounting practice has greater influence on social, rather than purely economic, reality. Dilemma over legal regulations and the legitimization of standard setters could be attributed to accounting regulations as legal norms. A classic example of this might be the transition from rule-based to principle-based IFRSs. The dilemma over the legitimization of standard setters has its roots in the legal aspect of accountancy. In order to solve it, it is necessary to answer the question: ‘who controls the processes of accounting integration?’ since the participants of this process often present divergent viewpoints, and sometimes even opposite priorities. Dilemma over the politicization of accountancy. The more globalized and complex the economic environment is, the more of political intervention there is expected to be in the standard setting process, affected by global geopolitical trends.

In this article an attempt was made to answer the question of why economic policy must not only perceive the process of globalization and integration, but should also be led in a way which would exploit the opportunities created for the Polish economy by globalization and economic integration. This particularly applies to developing a long-term strategy for socio-economic growth, and implementation of structural policy, which is financed by the European Union.

This paper represents the preliminary analysis of a pilot research carried out by CIR and the Department of social Studies of the University of Rome “Sapienza” (together with Italian non-profit organisations) on the level of integration of beneficiaries of international protection (both refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection) who had been living in Italy for at least 3 years. The pilot research described has been conducted under the Project “Le strade dell’integrazione” (The integration paths), co-financed by the European Union and the Italian Ministry of Interior under the European Refugee Fund 2010 – Action 2.1.A. Individual interviews and focus groups have been carried out in 7 different Italian territories, involving both beneficiaries of international protection and operators working with them. Questionnaires have been administered at national level. The preliminary analysis presented in this paper refers to some territories and to the partial material available. In the conclusion, results are discussed and recommendations for the final analysis are offered.

Recent rapid development of the Baltic stock markets raises the question about stock market integration level in these countries. Some empirical aspects of the Baltic stock market integration have been analysed in the scientific literature, however, a comprehensive analysis on the Baltic stock market integration level is still missing. The aim of the paper is to assess the regional integration level of the Baltic stock markets. The research object is stock markets in the Baltic countries. The following research and statistical methods have been applied in this study: the systemic and comparative analysis of the scientific literature, Spearman’s correlation coefficient, dynamic conditional correlation generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity model, Granger causality test, generalized impulse response analysis, Johansen cointegration test, autoregressive distributed lag model and error correction model. The main findings of this empirical study are (a) all three Baltic stock markets are closely related markets, (b) however, the Latvian stock market is more isolated at the regional level comparing to other two Baltic stock markets (c) whereas Estonian and Lithuanian stock markets are more interrelated.

The article presents the integrative approach in modern ecological education of school children. Ecological education points to the need for a synthesis of knowledge and activities; it forms a category of “ecological consciousness”, “ecological thinking”, “ecological performance”, “ecological culture”. The purpose of ecological education is to form a school of ecological culture, which manifests itself in ecological activities. The article presents the characteristics of the basic principles of ecological education: integrity, inter-disciplinarity, continuity, interconnection of local, national, regional and global approach, the moral and valuable relations. The analysis of the evolution of the concept of “integration of ecological education” is made. The significant binary-integrative theory of the content of ecological education is disclosed. The variations of composition and structure of content, activities, the hierarchy of principles, steps of the process of creation and implementation of integrative ecological education are revealed. The research revealed an important role of the principle of cultural conformity. Anthropocentrism is the basic principle for the formation of ecological consciousness. The theory of the integration of ecological education explores the interpenetration of ecological knowledge and ecological awareness. The paper identified four levels of integration of ecological education. The first level is substantial: the creation of integrated projects, articles, programs, various lessons. The second level is the organizational process: integrative form of education and training, integrative technology. The third level is the student-activity: the convergence process of the subjective roles of participants in the educational process. The fourth level is the socio-pedagogical: the creation of an integrated system of relations between the individual and the environment. Integrative process of modernization of ecological education ensures the formation of educational competencies: general cultural, educational and informative, informational, social, civil, communication, personal growth and development, ecological. Ecological competence is an integral component of each competency.

Since Poland joined the European Community, it has been transforming from a country of emigration into an emigration-immigration one. Year by year an increase of immigrants coming to Poland has been observed, which involves the Polish government and local authorities taking actions within the implementation of migration policy. The multifaceted processes of integration take place on the levels of linguistics, culture, education, and social activation aimed at combating social exclusion of this group of Polish inhabitants.

The idea of European integration and frequently also subsequent unification of law in Europe may seem to be quite a recent topic. If it is talked about, it is more or less in scope of decades, or with regards to the recent change of era, it might be considered no earlier than a last century issue. However, the roots of European integration can be found, without any doubt, much earlier; namely at the time when the Roman Empire had not only been forming the European organization for many centuries, but also the history of part of the territory of African and Asian continent. Although the motivations of their masterminds were different, we encounter some efforts to assure durable peace through peace treaties between those who really wanted to achieve it. First agreements of this type – putting peace under penalties of international legal nature, were already known in Old age.

It is a widely accepted view that the participation of young generations in organized sports activities has positive impacts both for the individual and the society. However, these positive impacts often does not reach those groups of the society, which would need the most these impacts for improving their chances regarding social participation and thus promoting integration of the society. The paper presents the results of a survey among young athletes inHungary, showing that the perception of the athletes in the sports clubs is very positive regarding the impacts of sports on their lives, but that young people from low-income and low-education families have very limited access to the sports clubs and so to the positive impacts of sports.

In the first part of the article the history of the influx of immigrants to France in the 19th and 20th century was described, as well as the characteristics of the number of refugees in the years 1991-2015. The next section examines the asylum procedure and refugee problems related to housing. The situation of unaccompanied minors was also discussed, as well as the integration process, which consists of six elements: professional integration, housing, access to civil rights, healthcare, social assistance and family reunification. The last part of the article describes organizations helping refugees, including France Terre d'asile, Forum Réfugiés-Cosi, La Cimade, L'Association nationale d'assistance aux frontières pour les étrangers (ANAFE), and Groupe accueil et solidarité (GAS).
