Dyspozytyw wykorzystujący dziecięce spojrzenie w funkcji nieuprzedzonego oka koresponduje z koncepcją André Bazina sformułowana w "Ontologii obrazu fotograficznego", natomiast dyspozytyw w funkcji magicznej z propozycjami i analizami Edgara Morin, ktore znajdujemy w książce "Kino i wyobraźnia". Strategię pierwszą analizuje autorka na przykładzie filmów Carlosa Saury i André Téchiné, wskazując na jej warianty w filmach chińskich. Wizję magiczną ilustruje przede wszystkim "Duch roju" Víctora Erice i "Nakarmić kruki" Carlosa Saury.

The author examines the creative strategy relying on using a figure of a child, and using its gaze to fill the function of the dispositive. This strategy can both steer the expression as a whole, but it can also be appliedto fragments of the work, which thus obtain a specific characteristic. The author sees the effect of this strategy in two quite different versions. In her view, these strategies correspond perfectly with the ideas proposed by theoreticians of cinema. The dispositive using the child’s gaze as an unprejudiced eye corresponds with André Bazin’s notion presented in The "Ontology of the Photographic Image", whereas the dispositive in its magical function agrees with the suggestions and ideas of Edgar Morin, which we may find in his book "The Cinema or the Imaginary Man". The author analyses the first strategy using the examples of the work of Carlos Saura and André Téchiné, also pointing to its variation in Chinese films. She illustrates the magical vision using Carlos Saura’s "Cría cuervos" ("Raise Ravens") and Víctor Erice’s "The Spirit of the Beehive".

Introduction: A vision problem is a condition which involves not only visual difficulty but also blindness. Purpose: The purpose of this short review study is the early recognition of vision problems in children, the proper treatment as well as their prevention. Materials and methods: The material of the study has been recent articles on the subject that have been found mainly in the electronic database Medline, (HEAL-Link), with the following keywords: children, vision impairment, blindness, treatment, prevention. Review: A high risk group of individuals that frequently presents ophthalmic severe lesions leading to blindness consists of children with prenatal and perinatal adverse effects. Conclusions: Education gives the opportunity of co-existence between the blind and people who are able to see. This is the path to social inclusion of individuals with vision problems. Moreover, it is estimated these two groups would have more points in common than differences between them through this experience.

Aggression is defined as the intentional action which causes pain and injury. The actions of an aggressive nature are designed to cause physical or mental harm to another person (Aronson, Wilson, & Akert, 1997). In contrast, violence is defined as an intentional action that goes beyond social norms and causes mental or physical pain (Pospiszyl, 1999). The article is concentrated on aggressive and violent language among children and adolescents. The term of ”language of aggression” has not been precisely defined yet. The language of aggression occurs the most when negative emotions and intentions are involved in the communication (Majchrzyk, 2002). The language of aggression is not only about using specific bad words but also about the way we speak. The article presents an overview of Polish and foreign literature concerning the issue of the language of aggression in children and adolescents. It shows why do teenagers and children use aggressive language, how is defined term of ”aggressive language” and what specialists can do to prevent such kind of problem.

The central question in this article is how teachers socialize pupils. Our hypothesis is that socialization takes place when an individual identifies something as a problem or as undesirable. In the process of socialization, teachers sometimes make mistakes. Attempting to hide these mistakes, however, may result in new or even greater mistakes. D. Kahneman implies that people do not like loss or failure. People attempt to justify earlier incorrect decisions by often undergoing senseless stress and exertion. People agree to exert themselves to guarantee what in their opinion is a fair and equitable solution to a particular situation. Subjective probabilities play an important role in our lives. This paper presents the results of an ethnographical study of education. Our findings suggest that mistakes and negativity contribute to strengthening norms be cause "bad is more representative than good". In addition to negativity, teachers try to teach norms through collegial responsibility and conscience, and regulation is important at every step. This study concludes that both success and failure are constantly renewed in a cycle. That is why people tend to use earlier behaviour models, including self-evaluation and beliefs, which are continually actualized. The importance of a supportive, positive, and optimistic learning environment cannot be underestimated. The concept of psychologically sustainable education requires greater in-depth study.

Objectives: The objective of the present study was to analyze the body composition and physical fitness of 10- to 11-year-old football players, analyzing the differences in physical fitness according to Body Mass Index (BMI) and percentage of fat mass (% FM), as well as the correlations between body composition and physical fitness. Methods: Twenty-eight male 10- to 11-year-old football players participated in the study, with an age range of 10 to 11 years (average age 10.39 years ± 0.49). The players performed the tests in abnormal training day. The variables assessed were: Body composition (Tanita BC 418-MA), blood pressure and heart rate (Visomat Comfort 20/40 arm blood pressure monitor), jump test (Abalakov jump on Optojump platform) and aerobic capacity test (Course Navette Test 20m, CN). The software used to perform the statistical analysis was SPSS Statistics 23.0. Findings: The analyses showed significant differences in maximal oxygen consumption (VO?max), BMI and % FM when comparing by age. With regard to BMI, significant differences were found in diastolic and systolic blodd pressure at rest (DBP and SBP), and, according to % FM, in rest DBP. The significant correlations between physical fitness and body composition according to BMI were negative in the variables of CN stage, CN distance, CN FSR (final speed reached), VO?max, and was positive in SBP and DBP. According to % FM, the significant correlations were negative in CN stage, CN distance, CN FSR, VO?max., and Abalakov jump (ABKJ), and they were positive in SBP and DBP. Conclusions: It is recommended to carry out intervention programs with the aim of improving the body composition of football players at school age, because this will have positive effects on their aerobic capacity, jumping and blood pressure.

The bill to amend the statute provides for a prohibition of the sale of the listed drinks to persons under 18 years of age on the premises of schools and other units of the educational system and in vending machines. The implementation of the proposed bans requires an analysis and a substantive decision, in particular regarding the harmfulness of drinks containing caffeine or taurine when consumed by minors. The possibility of achieving the required objective with the use of other measures should be considered. The proposed regulations determining criminal liability for noncompliance with the prohibitions on the advertising and sale of such drinks may be considered disproportionately harsh, as both their advertising and sale will be punished more severely than the advertising or sale of alcohol.

We examined how two-handed gestures and speech with equivalent contents that are used in narrative develop during childhood. The participants were 40 native speakers of English consisting of four different age groups: 3-, 5-, 9-year-olds, and adults. A set of 10 video clips depicting motion events were used to elicit speech and gesture. There are two findings. First, two types of two-handed gestures showed different developmental changes: those with a single-handed stroke with a simultaneous hold increased with age, while those with a two handed-stroke decreased with age. Second, representational gesture and speech developed in parallel at the discourse level. More specifically, the ways in which information is packaged in a gesture and in a clause are similar for a given age group; that is, gesture and speech develop hand-in-hand.

Health is an integral part of sustainable development, a process that can’t be materialized if there is a high prevalence of diseases, a high percentage of those is due to environmental factors. An important component of health is the healthy nutrition, especially of children and pregnant women. Iodine is an essential micronutrient for a good nutrition that covers the physiological needs of the body, iodine deficiency having important consequences for mother and fetus, then for children, especially in the first years of life. The main role of iodine in the body is due to his importance for synthesis of thyroid hormones involved in growth and development of psychic and somatic body, starting with intrauterine life. Iodine deficiency was, and still is, a public health problem, globally the most affected countries are in Central Africa, central South America and northern Asia. Europe iodine deficiency is relatively lower. Multiple interventions were made to improve and even eradicate iodine deficiency disorders, in particular through the universal iodization of salt for human consumption, but must be supported in continuing efforts because this issue is not fully resolved to this day.

Objectives: Diagnostic patterns play a role in asthma prevalence estimates and could have implications for disease management. We sought to determine the extent to which questionnaire-derived estimates of childhood asthma reflect the disease's true occurrence. Materials and Methods: Children aged 6-12 years from Katowice, Poland, were recruited from a crosssectional survey (N = 1822) via primary schools. Students were categorized into three mutually exclusive groups based on survey responses: "Asthma" (previously diagnosed asthma); "Respiratory symptoms" (no previous diagnosis of asthma and one or more respiratory symptoms during last year), "No respiratory symptoms" (no previous diagnosis of asthma or respiratory symptoms). A sample of children from each group (total N = 456) completed clinical testing to determine asthma presence according to GINA recommendations. Results: Based on the survey, 5.4% of children were classified with asthma, 27.9% with respiratory symptoms, and 66.7% with no respiratory symptoms or asthma. All previously known 41 cases of asthma were confirmed. New diagnoses of asthma were made in 21 (10.9%) and 8 (3.6%) of subjects from the "Respiratory symptoms" (N = 192) and "No respiratory symptoms" (N = 223) groups, respectively. The overall prevalence of childhood asthma, incorporating the results of clinical examination, was 10.8% (95% CI: 9.4-12.2), compared to the questionnaire-derived figure of 5.4% (95% CI: 4.4-6.5%) and affected females more than males. Conclusions: Asthma prevalence was underestimated in this population possibly resulting from under-presentation or under-diagnosis. This could have potential implications for proper management and well-being of children. Questionnaire estimates of prevalence should be considered carefully in the context of regional diagnostic patterns.

'The Secret Garden' (1993), the first film made by Agnieszka Holland in Hollywood, is based on a novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, that is widely recognised as a classic of children’s literature. The author argues that this film is the result of various negotiations between the many different models and aesthetic traditions of cinema – mainly Hollywood family cinema and the European art cinema. In the first part of the article the author discusses the context of production of "The Secret Garden" and its influence on the final artistic shape of the film. Then the analysis turns to the category of family cinema, to which Holland’s film is said to belong. In the analytical part of the article the author analyses in detail the initial and final sequences of the film, and using them as an example, she discusses the process of aesthetic and ideological negotiations.

Influenza is an acute infectious disease of the airways that occurs in every age group. The course of the disease may have a different severity and clinical picture, from asymptomatic to severe with symptoms of respiratory failure. The possibilities of pandemic infections and serious complications throughout the course of influenza distinguish it from other viral respiratory diseases, prompting us to treat it in a special way. Diagnosis of the disease is usually clinical in nature, and additional studies may be helpful in clinically relevant cases. The drug recommended for treatment and chemoprophylaxis is oseltamivir. Clinical benefits are greatest if treatment starts as early as possible, within 48 hours of the first symptoms of influenza. Clinical studies indicate that early treatment with oseltamivir may shorten the duration of the disease and reduce the risk of its complications. Annual influenza vaccination is the most effective method of preventing this disease, and the only contraindication to vaccination is the occurrence of an anaphylactic or other severe allergic reaction after a previous vaccination

The issue of universal sexual education of children and young people is conditioned by many socio-cultural factors, and even political, ethical or religious. The manner in which knowledge should be conveyed on this subject is constantly on the verge of accusations of “sexualization” of young people and the neglect of such an important element of education. The aim of the article is to present the model of sexual education (and preparation for life in the family) currently in force in Polish education – the methods of its implementation and effectiveness. This article is also based on the search for an answer to the question whether and how to present children’s issues related to human sexuality, not only to interest them, but also to contribute to the positive values of social determinants associated with physical and mental health.

Kynotherapy is one of the innovatory methods of disabled children therapy ‘a dogassisted therapy” generally speaking is a method helping and strengthening rehabilitations with a dog’s participation which is properly selected, trained and led by a qualified therapist. In 1964,a child psychiatrist Boris Levinson noticed while observing autistic boys in contact with dogs that these animals had caused that autistic children having a communication problem in building up social contacts, established a contact with a dog without any trouble, and it gave a chance for a contact with a therapist in the future. For a working ‘therapy dog’ are selected and trained the representatives of breeds with mellow and good-tempered temperament, well-balanced psyche, patient, obedient and devoted to man. According to therapists an ideal dog in terms of character is one called a social dog, that is such a dog which except mentioned above features will be obedient not only towards people whom it knows well, but also towards every person it meets. A dog selected for work with disabled people has to be a completely foreseeable dog, that is the one which has encoded invariable features of character by his genes. Moreover, it is important that the therapy dog would not have aggressive, apprehensive, or ill ancestors in his pedigree. The main effect of this kind of a contact therapy consists in the physical contact (stroking, cuddling up to a dog, shaking the dog’s paw) and establishing psychical ties with the animal what has a positive influence over the course of the treatment. Despite many inconveniences kynotherapy gains more and more followers in rehabilitation of disabled people. The changes that have occurred for last several years in this innovatory therapy allow to suppose that kynotherapy will be developing incessantly, and ‘dog therapists’ will be able to reach to more and more large number of people in need.

The subject matter tackled by Jakub Gałęziowski in his latest book Nieopowiedziane biografie. Polskie dzieci urodzone z powodu wojny [Untold biographies. Polish children born because of war - CBOW] includes testimonies of people who were conceived during the Second World War. An important aspect, however, is that these children were born from unions between the occupants and local women. The act itself may have been voluntary or forced, and the book refers only to the latter. The book is an important attempt to fill a large research gap that could not be filled for many years, due to communist rule in Poland as well as the women themselves or surrogate families concealing the truth.

Objectives: To estimate the burden of disease attributable to second-hand smoke (SHS) exposure in Polish children in terms of the number of deaths and disability adjusted life years (DALYs) due to lower respiratory infections (LRI), otitis media (OM), asthma, low birth weight (LBW) and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Materials and Methods: Estimates of SHS exposure in children and in pregnant women as well as information concerning maternal smoking were derived from a national survey, the Global Youth Tobacco Survey, and the Global Adult Tobacco Survey in Poland. Mortality data (LRI, OM, asthma, and SIDS), the number of cases (LBW), and population data were obtained from national statistics (year 2010), and DALYs came from the WHO (year 2004). The burden of disease due to SHS was calculated by multiplying the total burden of a specific health outcome (deaths or DALYs) by a population attributable fraction. Results: Using two estimates of SHS exposure in children: 48% and 60%, at least 12 and 14 deaths from LRI in children aged up to 2 years were attributed to SHS, for the two exposure scenarios, respectively. The highest burden of DALYs was for asthma in children aged up to 15 years: 2412, and 2970 DALYs, for the two exposure scenarios, respectively. For LRI, 419 and 500 DALYs, and for OM, 61 and 77 DALYs were attributed to SHS, for the two exposure scenarios, respectively. Between 13% and 27% of SIDS cases and between 3% and 16% of the cases of LBW at term were attributed to SHS exposure. Conclusions: This study provides a conservative estimate of the public health impact of SHS exposure on Polish children. Lack of comprehensive, up to date health data concerning children, as well as lack of measures that would best reflect actual SHS exposure are major limitations of the study, likely to underestimate the burden of disease.
