This article is a commentary on the texts of the Catalan exiles of the Spanish Civil War, developing the topos of Poland, which has been present in the writings of Catalan Nationalists since the XIX century. The analysis starts with the Historia dels moviments nacionalistas [1912-1914] by Antoni Rovira i Virgili, then follows with fragments of Dietari del primer mes de la guerra [1939] by Carles Pi i Sunyer, and his long poem Diàleg de les Verges Negres de Polònia i Catalunya [1939], to finish with the articles of César Pi i Sunyer (1939) and Manuel Serra i Moret [1947]. All of these writings, which idealize the Polish patriotism and the history of Poland and ascend it to a category of a myth, arose from the yearning for Catalonia and the awareness of the common fate of victims of the totalitarian Europe.

Catalonia is an autonomous community in Spain, possessing a unique culture. This is meticulously preserved, not only by intellectuals, but also by its citizens, who hold their individual language, common history and traditions in the highest esteem. It is the perfect example of a nation without a state, truly dedicated to the peaceful struggle for survival of its exceptional individuality. The article explains how the historical relationship between Catalonia and Spain has awakened the Catalonian sense of individuality and the will to fight for its rights, leading to the creation of a separate political idea—catalanism. For the major part of the article the author presents the views on the Catalan issue as expressed by Antonio Gaudi—one of the most distinguished of Catalans.

Literary heritage presents a dialectic relationship between tangible and intangible elements. This complex duality presents challenges for curators, who must try to communicate this immaterial essence through the exhibition language. This article, structured on a two-phase research process, aims to identify the main challenges for literary heritage valorisation and communication in the museum context. First, interviews with specialists in literary heritage and museology from Catalonia and Russia were carried out to identify the main issues to be considered when designing a literary heritage exhibition and managing a literary heritage centre. Second, the websites of three renowned literary European museums were analysed to inspect whether and how these aspects are tackled by these museums and presented to their potential visitors. Results show that, firstly, the duality of literary heritage is vital in the designing of the exhibition; and secondly, that concepts such as human mediation, literary tourism, and promotion are important in finding new strategies to communicate and visibilise literary heritage intangible meanings.

This work analyses a conflict between Spain and its autonomous region of Catalonia. We appeal to context of phenomenon of identity borders and emotional bordering, with using a border study methodology. The article characterizes signs and symbols - both tangible and intangible - on the basis of which the Catalans identify them as a nation with ambitions to have their own state or to federalize the Kingdom of Spain. The work also describes historical and current context of struggle between Madrid and Barcelona (economical, political, and cultural). In the last part we accentuate four scenarios of potential evolution of relations between Spain and Catalonia.
