This text analyzes the educational offer of Lublin museums. An attempt was made to answer the question whether, when planning educational activities, the employees of the centers take into account the needs of the young generation and the recommendations of didactics, or the effects of their work are attractive to children and youth. The description was supplemented with lists of proposals for classes offered to pupils of kindergartens and schools by institutions included in the Lublin Museum in Lublin and the Museum of the Lublin Village, the Majdanek Museum and the Regional Onion Museum.

The article concerns learning in museums. A previous article (PWE 2/12 2010) outlined the conditions under which interactive learning can be expected. The current article concerns the possibility of applying an interactive model in schools with special focus on early education. Rules (examples from practices) and forms of didactic work suitable for the interactive model are also presented.
Pojęcie „społeczna odpowiedzialność muzeów” implikuje różne skojarzenia, najczęściej odwołujące się do sfery zarządzania i działalności podmiotów komercyjnych zgodnie z normą ISO 26000. Stosując triangulację metod, przeprowadzono analizę danych zastanych, pogłębione wywiady indywidualne w polskich muzeach (IDI) oraz wywiady fokusowe (FGI) w grupach polskich i międzynarodowych. Szczególnie interesującym wątkiem projektu była edukacja muzealna i jej rosnące znaczenie. Artykuł dotyczy głównie przeprowadzonych badań fokusowych (FGI). Swoisty komentarz do wniosków stanowią refleksje wygłoszone podczas gościnnego wykładu dr Bernadette Lynch zorganizowanego w ramach projektu.
Contemporarily more and more recognition for complementing and broadening school education is awarded to museum education which offers various educational experiences. For optimal connection of museum education with school teaching the collaboration of both institutions is necessary. Process of cooperation between museum and school is conditioned by the development of personal relationship between a teacher and a museum educator. Research results of western pedagogues show that educational dialogue between a teacher and a museum educator is possible. However, stereotypes present in mutual judgment make it difficult to conduct.

Współcześnie coraz większe uznanie w dopełnianiu i poszerzaniu edukacji szkolnej zyskuje edukacja muzealna oferująca różnego rodzaju doświadczenia edukacyjne.
The main goal of the museum is to ensure the possibility of human development and its rooting in the world, building a sense of local and individual identity, and above all, creating a sense of community. The regional, ethnographic museum studies, archives and shows the entirety of human culture, his worldview, material products, beliefs, and finally his surroundings. The museum message is a source of knowledge, understanding of the processes of the contemporary world through the prism of the heritage of past generations. Museums are places where viewers gain new competences. The museum’s message reflects the human experience contained in the artifacts of the past. Through the created narrative, it influences the recipient – it causes development in the cognitive sphere in the field of memory, critical and abstract thinking, and creative focusing of involuntary and free attention. Finally, the museum has a social and environmental impact. The requirement of lifelong education is inscribed in the contemporary mission of museums, which today become places where entire families spend their time. This visible trend makes it possible to develop educational activities that could be attractive to such a group of recipients (family workshops) so that both adults and children can find content that is right for them at the same time.

Głównym celem działania muzeum jest zapewnienie możliwości rozwoju człowieka i jego zakorzenienia w świecie, budowanie poczucia tożsamości lokalnej i indywidualnej, a nade wszystko kreowanie poczucia wspólnoty. Muzeum regionalne, etnograficzne bada, archiwizuje i ukazuje całokształt kultury człowieka, jego światopogląd, wytwory materialne, wierzenia, wreszcie jego otoczenie. Muzealny przekaz jest źródłem poznania, rozumienia procesów, współczesnego świata, poprzez pryzmat dziedzictwa przeszłych pokoleń. Muzea są miejscami gdzie widz zdobywa nowe kompetencje. Przekaz muzealny odzwierciedla doświadczenie człowieka zawarte w artefaktach przeszłości. Poprzez tworzoną narrację wpływa na odbiorcę – powoduje rozwój w sferze poznawczej w zakresie pamięci, myślenia krytycznego, abstrakcyjnego, twórczego skupiania uwagi mimowolnej i dowolnej. Wreszcie muzeum oddziaływuje społecznie i środowiskowo.
Bibliografia obejmuje literaturę przedmiotu dotyczącą edukacji muzealnej, opublikowaną w ciągu ostatnich trzech dekad w formie druków zwartych: książek, m.in. podręczników, monografii problemowych, materiałów pokonferencyjnych, publikacji seminaryjnych, jak i problemowych artykułów w czasopiśmiennictwie fachowym.

This bibliography summarizes literature focusing on museum education that has been published within the last three decades: books (e.g. textbooks, monographs, post-conference materials, seminar publications) and articles in academic journals. The list consists of a range of selected publications on – in authors’ opinion representative – topics covered by museum experts, teachers, educators with respect to museum pedagogy, both in theory and in practice. The presented items were grouped into two categories: foreign and Polish literature. This list will be also published on the National Institute for Museums and Public Collections’ Website (www.nimoz.pl) in the Education section. As the list will be constantly updated as a result of monitoring and suggestions from the readers, it will constitute an up-to-date compendium essential for museum experts, especially museum educators.
Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań pt. Instytucje kultury w okresie COVID-19.

The article concerns the issues related to the creation of the missions of museums which exhibit the legacy of Polish gentry. In the post-war period gentry values were regarded as hostile to the political system, and landowners were portrayed as enemies of a people. In contrast, after 1989, the process of mythologizing gentry traditions was started and a positive image was restored. In the article I try to delineate the model framework for the creation of the museum mission whose role to inform about the knowledge and emotions concerning this fragment of Polish history is of paramount importance. The discussion of the framework for creating museum collections in this field has also highlighted the need to take into account the broadest possible context, social participation and education.
The article combines the issues of intercultural education with the one presented in museum. The author focuses on the question of creating the positive attitude towards the Other. The first part of the text contains the theoretical basics of intercultural education and museum education. It is explained who is the Other and how should the museum lesson look like. The main part of the article presents the proposals of works of art that can be used during classes. Selected works present issues such as disability, disease, religious and cultural diversity. The autohor organizes the artworks not only between the category of otherness, but also in a kind of museum in which they are presented. Summarizing, the text discusses requirements for teachers who would like to prerepare a museum lesson with the aim of creating the positive attitude towards the Other. Linguistic theory which Mieke Bal presented in her text The Talking Museum, reproduced in the book Double Exposures: The Subject of Cultural Analysis, is one of the clearest signs of the New Museology. This self- critical field indicates changes in museum studies at the end of the twentieth century.

Filmy promujące wystawy czasowe, poprzez swoją formę i treść mają za zadanie zaciekawić odbiorcę i zachęcić go do wizyty w muzeum.

This article aims to analyse selected trailers from temporary exhibitions which were popularized by the largest museums of the world, and also bring out their educational function. Currently, exhibitions, promoting films through its form and content, are designed to interest people and encourage them to visit the museum. This is done by preparing a film exhibition and using two different means which are often interwoven with one another, namely the introduction of a surprising story which is interactive in nature. The visitors take part in the formation or the project itself. The second approach is to have a clear educational emphasis and to explain the expertise and insider secrets of how it is maintained, and also the concepts of the exhibitions as well as the methods of arrangement. Finally there is a discussion of the leading works, and sometimes also a focus on lesser-known details which brings the participant, the creation’s producer as well as the process of creating and artifacts themselves closer to one another. In this way, by introducing the exhibition the prerequisites of an educational aspect are met. These two ideas in films promoting temporary exhibitions have been shown in selected examples, both in Polish and foreign museums.
This paper deals with the subject of traditional sports and games (in international literature also called TSG) and the possibility of using them in the contemporary museums’ activities. The author starts with a short description of the significance of sports, games and plays in the history of mankind and the difference between ritual plays and spontaneous games of the past and the contemporary, professional sport — typical for modern times and associated with globalization. Then attention is paid to the particular form of sport — traditional sports and games (TSG) — and their meaning as a cultural reaction to the global threats of homogenization, also visible in modern sport. He also explains why we should protect and promote these sports and games. In the main part of this paper the author aims at indicating the potential and the examples of practical use of TSG in the museum context — as an important part of the intangible cultural heritage, museum education and museum cultural tourism. Then, he describes the selected examples of museums and other institutions in which TSG are used in the described contexts. Finally he focuses on the particular institution — the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica in Poland, describing the selected examples of putting traditional sports and games in practice there and treating them as an important part of this Museum’s offer.

W prezentowanym artykule przedmiotem refleksji dydaktycznej jest edukacja muzealna. Zastosowana metoda badań to autobiografia tematyczna.
Changes in the area of museum education take multiple directions. While some of them are a result of discussion on transformations observed in social life and their impact on the shape and role of contemporary museums, others may be related to growing numbers of museum visitors recruiting from ever wider circles of people. Irrespective of the causes behind this metamorphosis of education offered by museums, many of these institutions simply ask: Who and what are museums for nowadays? ‘A Multitude of Realities’ is an experimental research and educational project of the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek which has already provided a lot of material to answer these two questions.
The aim of this article is to analyse the concept of educational turn and its impact on everyday museum practices. It seeks to explore whether educational turn can effectively change the relations of power in a museum. The text studies how such model of comprehending and producing art affects the relationship between curators and educators. The discussion of problems related to the implementation of projects reveals that the chances for developing alternative, mainly dialogue-based, ways of producing knowledge in a museum are higher once the experience and competence of curators and educators are combined.
The museum as a place of learning and special informal surroundings nowadays is changing its role and functionality. Among up and coming semi-museums like Science Centres, Museums of Science etc., it has to create a new model of educational offer. Children living in a cybernetic culture are accustomed to new hi-tech, digital devices. Accordingly, the museum tries to propose ‘hands-on’ exhibitions. Each place understands this kind of interactivity differently, and not everyone practises what is declared indeed. Moreover, a comparison between a typical museum ‘Ośrodek Kultury Morskiej Centralnego Muzeum Morskiego’ and new kind of semi-museum ‘Hewelianum’ in Gdansk, proves that learning can still be oriented in one direction, just to transmit some data, not to create personal understanding even using modern techniques and equipment. There are very important questions which need to be answered – what is the difference between museum and semi-museum, or whether we need exhibitions with digital devices just to create interactive environment? Being in the museum should be recognized as a chance of artistic learning, enriched with regional cultural heritage and aesthetics. Unfortunately, even in the museums it can be found out that education depends on economics, which influence the quality and shape of children’s learning, and is similar to the typical school learning.
