Celem artykułu jest wykazanie szkodliwości przesadnego przywiązania do języka specjalistycznego w badaniach literackich. We wstępie zostaje zarysowany kontekst postawienia tezy.

The aim of the article is to demonstrate the harmfulness of the excessive attachment to the specialist language in literary studies. The introduction outlines the context in which the thesis is formulated. The proceeding part consists of a short presentation of the current situation of the literary studies, namely their linguistic “overspecialization.” The yet proceeding one — of a short historical sketch of what is called here the classic mode of academic diction, ranging from the Greek Antique to contemporary times, with special stress falling upon the role which in this diction was and is given to the colloquial, living, “natural” language.” The third part is an attempt at formulating three theoretical arguments proving the superiority of this “classic” model over the contemporary one in the literary studies. The text closes with an attempt at outlining several practical advantages to be gained by accepting the attitude argued for in the text.

The aim of the text is to uncover and describe personalist elements of Gilbert Keith Chesterton’s nationalism and distributism. First part of the text is concerned with clarifying basic notions, so—with explaining the meaning of the terms “personalism” and “Thomist personalism,” and presenting the most basic intellectual framework of Thomist personalist philosophy, which is done by the means of analyzing the thought of Thomist personalist par excellence—Jacques Maritain. The second part of the text concentrates on the analysis of Chesterton’s ideas, proving—consequently—that he was a social thinker, that his notion of nationalism corresponds in a striking manner to Maritain’s concept of social life, and his distributist views—to Maritain’s concept of the common good. The text ends with several general remarks that aim at establishing certain possible advantages this analysis might produce.

Celem opracowania jest dowiedzenie, że angielska myśl dystrybucjonistyczna, reprezentowana przez Hilaire Belloca i Gilberta Keitha Chestertona, stanowi oryginalny wariant konkretnego ideału historycznego nowej cywilizacji chrześcijańskiej, jaki opracował w dziele Humanizm integralny francuski filozof tomistyczny, Jacques Maritain. Pierwsza, krótsza część artykułu stanowi zarys koncepcji nowej cywilizacji chrześcijańskiej jako konkretnego ideału historycznego, ujętego w trzech zasadniczych wymiarach: politycznym (demokracja personalistyczna), ekonomicznym (pluralizm gospodarczy) i kulturowym (chrześcijańskie państwo świeckie).

The aim of the work is to present English social philosophy of distributism as a variant of a concrete historical ideal of the New Christian Civilization, as proposed by a French Thomist, Jacques Maritain, in his Integral Humanism. The first part of the text present the idea of the New Christian Civilization in three important dimensions: political (personalist democracy), economic (economic pluralism) and cultural (Christian secular state). Second one's aim is to prove that all these three elements are analogically present in the structure of distributist thought. Third part, the shortest of all, presents differences that occur between English distributism and the thought of Jacques Maritain, due to which the two system can be compared not in the terms of identity, but only similarity, and which open perspectives for further research.
