Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a complex concept which embraces three organizational logics: economical, social and environmental. ADAMPOL, a Polish firm operating in Podlasie region, serves as an example of a company which declares in its documents (like the CSR report) that it has balanced CSR logics. The study contributes with insights to the organizational management of potentially opposing logics in CSR. Managing contradictions of CSR is an ongoing challenge and accomplishment influencing whether ethical, social and business logics collide or reinforce each other. The study shows - on the basis of research findings of a Danish frontrunner firm DanCo - that when ethics are framed as means to economic ends, some social responsibilities have a tendency to be disregarded in practice.

The purpose of this article is to investigate the positioning of CSR-related objectives within the structure of corporate innovation objectives of firms. The study is based on firm level data from Polish wave of Community Innovation Survey for 2008-2010. Analysis shows that CSR-related innovation objectives are aimed at building cost-based competitive advantage. Moreover, we show that better performing innovators indicate higher importance of CSR-related objectives than less successful innovators. Finally, we argue that the lowest importance of CSR-related objectives in whole structure of innovation objectives for all studied Polish innovating firms indicates that CSR is still not fully embedded in their corporate strategies.

The banking sector’s stable operation contributes to healthy economic development. Any waver of confidence in the sector may lead to serious economic problems, as seen during the 2008 crisis. The aims of this original retrospective and exploratory study are: (1) to describe the concepts of corporate social responsibility, a term familiar for companies and to interpret it the operating practice of commercial banks and (2) to describe a potential manner of CSR implementation in central banks’ task performance as well. The authors provide a survey of the relevant literature and study how the theory is supported by empirical evidence based on previous researches about commercial banks and the practice of central bank of the United States of America (FED) and the European Central Bank (ECB). Our survey indicates that CSR has clearly become part of the financial sector and it is an increasingly important topic in international banking. Furthermore, the stress laid on the banking sector’s corporate responsibility may be instrumental in restoring confidence in the sector and improving social welfare.

This paper explores the integration of John Rawls’s (1921–2002) theory of “justice as fairness” into corporate social responsibility (CSR). It accentuates the shift from solely focusing on profit maximization to a model that prioritizes ethical governance and sustainable development. The paper reinterprets Rawls’s theory for corporate ethics and governance, asserting that businesses have a moral obligation to uphold fairness and equity beyond mere compliance or public perception. It acknowledges the role of the government in this integration. It recognizes the challenges in aligning Rawlsian principles with corporate objectives while balancing economic and societal obligations. The fusion of CSR with Rawlsian ideas can potentially bring transformative impacts to businesses, paving the way for a more equitable form of capitalism that combines economic goals with a strong commitment to social justice and ethical practices.

Integrated reporting (IR) is the latest approach to corporate reporting, currently most widely discussed topic in the literature on the subject. It is another stage in the evolution of the organization’s reporting and another attempt at its improvement. Presently, IR is questioned whether it really provides for a reliable presentation of the organization’s present and future performance, and whether integrated reporting will actually result in a better understanding of the economic and financial situation of a business entity and its accomplishments. The purpose of this article is an attempt at answering a question of whether an integrated report in its present form can in the future replace the current corporate reporting and constitute a potential solution to its shortcomings. The article uses the results of the literature studies on the subject, results of the authors’ earlier research studies, as well as observations of the current business practice in the area of integrated reporting.

W wyniku dociekań w zakresie wzajemnych oddziaływań CSR i kategorii wyniku finansowego uznano pośrednią rolę wyniku finansowego w działaniach spółek społecznie odpowiedzialnych.
