Background/Purpose: Maintaining a balance between security and a positive user experience in mobile and Internet banking is becoming increasingly difficult for the providers of banking services. The goal of our research is to analyse user opinions about the current situation: how users perceive security and how the authentication methods they are using affect user experience. Methodology: Data were collected using an online survey among the users of 15 banks operating in Slovenia, and statistical methods were applied to analyse them. Results of the users’ study were evaluated and commented by a limited number of interviewed banking security experts. Results: The results indicate that the use of mobile banking in Slovenia is relatively low, as only 30 percent of respondents use mobile banking along with Internet banking. Slovenian users perceive security to be the most important factor in mobile and online banking, closely followed by reliability. We also verified whether the users knew which authentication methods they were using: 69% of respondents selected the correct authentication method. The opinion of 88% of respondents was that authentication methods do not limit them when using mobile and Internet banking. Results of the study of user’s opinions did not surprise the experts, although experts’ views about the balance between security and usability diverged considerably. Conclusion: Our results indicate that, in Slovenia, users of the Internet and mobile banking services regard security to be the most important element in mobile or Internet banking and find user experience less important while they absolutely do want products that are easy to use.

The high level of usability of online store websites has recently evolved from the level of added value, towards the basic criterion, which translates directly into building a competitive advantage. Increasingly, the level of usability of e‐commerce websites is a decisive issue for the survival of the store in virtual reality. If it is difficult for customers to find the product they are looking for on the website, the likelihood that they will buy it drops drastically. The article focuses on the analysis of three online stores, which was carried out through the tool which is Google Analytics. The recorded results were compared with the observations of a group of people analyzing the above‐mentioned websites of online stores using heuristic methods identified with the process of UX audits. For the purposes of the research, the focus was on the areas of information architecture, navigation, content and design, customer service and the purchasing process. The work highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the tool which is Google Analytics. In addition, areas that can only be verified using heuristic methods have been identified. Indicators and criteria were defined that are most responsible for identifying key elements that improve the usability of e‐commerce websites, while at the same time accepting the cost of their implementation.

Aim/purpose – The study delves into the creation and the experience of interactive children’s narratives based on poetry, examining the emerging role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a collaborative partner in storytelling for children. The research questions are: 1) What are the experiences of readers, specifically children’s guardians, with interactive narratives based on children’s poetry?; 2) How do children’s guardians experience interactive stories co-generated in real-time through conversations with artificial intelli-gence?; 3) Is it feasible to create a satisfying narrative for children from a specific set of images through the use of AI technology? Design/methodology/approach –This paper synthesizes findings from the following studies: a) Qualitative analysis of interactive narratives based on Stanisław Jachowicz’s poems, involving a comprehensive online questionnaire survey, with 80 respondents participating in the latest study; b) An evaluative study focused on real-time interactions with AI-generated interactive narratives based on Stanisław Jachowicz’s poems. This involved 12 participants who provided detailed feedback on their experience; c) An autoethnographic study exploring the creative process of generating children’s narratives from a set of images using AI. Findings – The findings from the exploratory studies suggested that interactive narratives based on poetry would be beneficial for education and the promotion of reading. The interactive narrative can be simply designed (simple mechanics, simple options) and nevertheless, it can evoke a positive user experience. The constructs of telepresence and player agency apply not only to the interactive narrative and the poem that serves as its foundation. The evaluation of the interactive narrative generated by ChatGPT was positive, both as real-time interactive storytelling experienced by the reader with AI and as the interactive narrative created based on a set of images. In the process of generating interactive narratives during real-time interactions, ensuring safety, reliability, and trustworthiness for children is a crucial aspect. Research implications/limitations – The research suggests that educational organizations can benefit from introducing interactive narratives based on poetry into children’s curricula. Furthermore, artificial intelligence can be effectively utilized in creating such content, both in the form of traditional interactive narratives presented to children and in real-time interactions with AI. However, it is also important for organizations to develop tools for monitoring children’s safety. Originality/value/contribution – This paper sheds light on the reader’s experience with interactive narratives based on poetry and highlights the transformative impact of AI on reading and writing in children’s literature, emphasizing how significantly the roles of writers and readers have changed with the introduction of AI. The swift evolution of artificial intelligence raises concerns that vital literary participants – including authors, researchers, publishers, and readers – may not grasp the essential skills and knowledge for utilizing AI. This paper can be helpful for these groups as it provides clues on how to produce good prompts, leading to the creation of children’s narratives.

This study examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on improving customer loyalty through the use of chatbot technology, with a specific focus on the user experience of Moroccan consumers. The increasing integration of AI into customer service, especially through chatbots, represents a significant shift in how companies interact with their customers. Given Morocco’s growing digitalization and the strategic importance of customer loyalty, it is critical to understand how consumers perceive and interact with these technologies. To achieve this, the study used a qualitative research method of semi-structured interviews to investigate consumers’ perceptions, interaction behaviours, and challenges with chatbot usage. A total of 50 interviews were conducted with Moroccan consumers over a two‑month period, from January to March. Each session lasted an average of 30 minutes. The results show a mixed picture: high awareness of chatbot advances is accompanied by varying degrees of appreciation and scepticism. Users cited both the potential and limitations of chatbot interactions, particularly in terms of technical responsiveness and personalization. The findings highlight the need to close the technology gap and optimize the user experience to increase the effectiveness of chatbots in customer service. The study contributes to theory and practice through a deeper understanding of AI-driven customer interactions and offers actionable recommendations for Moroccan companies seeking to update their digital customer engagement strategies.

The aim of the discussion is to explore how user experience design (UXD) in digital games can be shaped by applying the principles of Gestalt perceptual organisation theory. Starting from a definition of UXD as the process of building complex, immersive and emotionally engaging user experiences in digital environments, the paper develops the thesis that the effectiveness of this process in games is not limited to user interface design. Although the literature extensively describes the use of Gestalt principles in the context of graphic interface design, their potential as a tool for organising perception within gameplay and the visual environment of a game remains relatively inexhaustible. This paper proposes an extended perspective of UX in computer games as the synergistic effect of three components: gameplay mechanics, narrative and visual structures. In this theoretical framework, Gestalt principles are analysed as universal rules of perceptual organisation that can influence not only the ergonomics of the interface, but also the direction of the player’s attention, interpretation of the game world and understanding of its rules. Particular attention has been paid to games without a classic UI, such as Journey or Inside, which, despite dispensing with conventional UI elements, effectively construct deep user experiences through thoughtful visual and narrative structure. The text is both a review of selected aspects of the literature on UXD and Gestalt theory and an analysis of selected examples of computer games in which principles of perceptual organisation play a key role in the construction of the player experience. The article is cognitive and theoretical and applied, offering a new interpretative framework for the design of user experience in the medium of digital games.

The design of digital products is a practical activity involving such specialisations as information architecture, user experience, user interface design, and interaction design. These professions have existed for a short time. Their emergence is related to the widespread access to the internet and the use of information and communication technologies. The authors show that the language used by digital product designers in everyday professional activity, and also present in professional publications and training courses, is a professiolect. It is characterised by a small number of native terms and a dominance of terms borrowed from the English language, which is related to the facts that the profession is new, computer applications with English interfaces are used in everyday work, and the companies and projects are international. The paper presents the most important features of the digital product designer professiolect, focusing primarily on vocabulary sources and borrowings. The authors give examples of proper, semantic and structural borrowings selected from the translations of books published from 2012–2019, and from online training courses and job advertisements published between August and November, 2019 on the job websites: Crossjob, Indeed, Praca UX, Praca.pl, and Pracuj.pl.

The author of the article describes the effects of the personalized advertising of the iPhone X and considers the functional world of smartphones – the essence of this device and the spiritual and physiological changes caused by it. Hand-held smartphones have become a tool and object shaping the personality and character of the cybercommunication user, separating him from classic analogue communications and body spectacles. The cultural and marketing principles of this new type of social communication were pointed out in May 1998 by Steve Jobs. According to personalized advertising, iPhone X is a medium with an aesthetic graphic interface and communication applications. Definitions and expansive practices of contemporary design are as unobvious as the concept of the Internet. Apple has translated the power of design into an effective marketing strategy and philosophy of culture. To put it simply, design recreates and consolidates communication, while art initiates and inspires it. But design is also the language of the individual but contextualized choices. In summary, appleization is a marketed culture format. First of all, it means to design sales. In fact, Apple proposed, by presenting the iMac, iPod, iPhone and – iPad, all consistently designed by Jonathan Ive, a pro-social marketing strategy, personalizing advertising, employer branding as the philosophy of the organization, and original typography as the basis of the company’s communication and off-line-user experience, unboxing rituals, and product placement; these are selected examples of professional activity, whose aim is to build the philosophy of a modern brand and, as a consequence, to remodel the user’s awareness. Therefore, if we recognize that the essence of the cult of (each) brand lies in the image and product creation, Apple supports this cult by drawing on synergy of employer and personal branding. Design is not so much a global philosophy as it is a part of the process, a fragment of such branding, which is one of the lifestyle paradigms.

Zastosowano następującą strukturę: krótkie wprowadzenie do koncepcji platform komunikacyjnych, określenie metody badawczej, analiza i omówienie zidentyfikowanych wyników. Wnioski: w przeprowadzonym badaniu zidentyfikowano następujące elementy: poziom komunikacji cyfrowej wśród respondentów oraz znajomość różnych platform odgrywają istotną rolę w wykorzystaniu i preferencjach platform UCC.

Purpose: The aim of this research is focused on the identification of communication patterns prior and after COVID-19 was announced and the approach to the choices that end users make in various aspects of life. Design/methodology/approach: The authors decided to execute two-step research including practical use of 4 popular collaboration platforms: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Jitsi, Google Meet, based on the proved user experience. After a defined focus group of respondents gathered hands-on experience in a controlled manner, using the defined communication platforms, further research was carried out in the form of a survey to assess the change of behavior of respondents, considering IT tools used to support distance learning and collaboration. The research included a comparison of behavior prior the epidemic and during the epidemic period. The research covered the following aspects: how the behavior patterns of UCC use have changed across the identified areas (business, educational, private) and what are the most preferred toolsets. The following structure was applied: a short introduction to the communication platforms, definition of the research method, analysis, and discussion of the identified results. Findings: The conducted survey identified the following elements: the level of digital communication among respondents and the familiarity with different platforms have a significant role in the use and development of UCC platforms. The generic conclusion of the research was that almost all respondents have prior experience using UCC platforms. The survey has proved the 100% use of UCC cross various areas of life. Based on the research, it has been noticed that respondents tend to use one or two UCC platforms as a standard for business and private use. UCC platforms that are more widely used across different areas of life are rated as the most preferred by the respondents and include Microsoft Teams (30%) and Google Meet (23%). Research limitations/implications: The usage of non-probabilistic sampling, a relatively small sample and the usage of qualitative analysis methods were major limitations of the conducted research. Firstly, the research data was collected from students of one specialty, from one specific university. The research did not find any cultural differences in distance learning and communication. Secondly, the study uses basic statistical measures without cross analysis to enable a deeper analysis of the research. Originality/value: The presented paper is a part of the research area related to communication platforms across various areas of peoples’ life. The research was aimed at the identification of the most preferable UCC platforms and features that serve the communication purpose. The cognitive value of the paper might also be seen in the focus on a relatively narrow and homogenous group of respondents (students of e-business and digital marketing).

Effective historical education requires an effective and appropriately profiled message. To construct such a message, it is necessary to use more and more new solutions to present the content and formulate the message. To build a historical message and effectively reach the recipients with it, it is also necessary to carry out research determining the needs of the receivers, but also pointing to gaps and deficits in the knowledge that should be managed. While discussing the development of public history and tools based on which it can develop, it is worth paying attention to the potential of modern information technologies, which when used properly can help in the research or educational process, providing content, on the one hand, expects the recipient and on the other hand, they are at the appropriate substantive level. The article aims to present the experiences of the Institute of National Remembrance in the construction of digital competences and their application in various historical activities as an element supporting the historical policy of the Polish State. The text presents specific examples of activities carried out over the past few years by the Institute of National Remembrance, aimed at achieving a certain state of balance between history (with particular emphasis on public history) and IT. Because they are seemingly far from each other, they have a lot in common - the measure of the success of their output is effectively reaching the recipient and interest in it was created by a book, conference, application, and IT system. Therefore, to make the products of historical and IT-related works enjoy the interest of the recipients, the needs research and the quality of the message are required, both in the substantive, functional or graphic dimension.

Badania prowadziłam w ujęciu interdyscyplinarnym, jakościowym wśród 12 uczniów funkcjonujących w czterech różnych systemach i środowiskach edukacyjnych: edukacji domowej, szkołach miejskich prywatnych, szkołach miejskich publicznych i szkołach wiejskich publicznych.

In the discussion about the modern school, as an institution and a building, there are many social actors, often with different positions. More and more often, though still rarely, the students’ voice is allowed. Their perspective, as many studies show, can be extremely different from that of adults. The aim of my research was to recognize and understand the primary school students’ perspective in terms of their experience of the broadly understood school space and to describe the material and nonmaterial conditions of spaces in which children feel good and like to learn. I conducted my research in 2021 and 2022, shortly after the pandemic and the remote learning. I conducted the research in an interdisciplinary, qualitative approach among 12 students functioning in four different educational systems and environments: home education, private urban schools, public urban schools and public rural schools. The results of my research indicate that children need variety in the school space to feel comfortable and learn effectively. Respondents’ statements revealed several key factors important in places of learning: sense of security, free learning, completeness of the place, possibility to ask questions, consideration of home conditions and setting specific boundaries for the place of formal learning.

Increasing importance of digital marketing in the business operations raises the need for detailed and data-driven knowledge on the functioning and effectiveness of its various elements. The article analyses one of the most critical components of the user communication process on a landing page – the text or a message provided on a call to action (CTA) button. The research sample covers over 17,000 unique landing pages. The aim of the study was to determine to what extend the semantic type of messages on CTAs together with the length, impact the landing page conversion rate (CR). The results show that shorter and generative messages convert better, as compared to longer tunnel or informative messages. It was also shown that the use of benefit-driven language in communication via CTAs does not translate into increased CR by itself. These findings can serve as a guide for digital marketers who are in charge of designing landing pages, UX writers, and UX designers.

Artykuł zawiera analizę jednej z najważniejszych składowych procesu komunikacji z użytkownikiem na stronie docelowej (landing page), jaki stanowią treści ulokowane w komunikatach wezwań do działania (call to action).

The aim of this article is to identify the role and importance of implementing innovative business models that take into account (customer, user, business) experience in start-ups. To achieve this goal, the authors selected case studies. Two technology start-ups were chosen for analysis. Innovative business models such as start-ups are of great importance for creating consumer experiences. This is now possible by providing products to customers who are looking for solutions to enhance the positive experience of the end customer. It was observed that the implementation of the business customer experience management concept is becoming increasingly important as an imperative for the operation of startups. This means that experience as an extended relationship concept can enhance the customer experience process, using creative and flexible approaches such as Lean Startup, Agile, Design Thinking.

Celem artykułu jest określenie roli i znaczenia wdrażania innowacyjnych modeli biznesowych uwzględniających doświadczenia (klienta, użytkownika, biznesu) w startupach. Aby osiągnąć cel, autorzy wybrali studia przypadku. Do analizy zakwalifikowano dwa startupy technologiczne.

When owners and designers of mobile applications and websites compete for the attention of users, persuasive design becomes a common practice. In its preparation, the user’s perspective is adopted in order to better understand and optimise their experience when in contact with the offered media service. However, projects created in this way may be unethical and use so-called “manipulative patterns” depriving the user of (or limiting) the possibility of choice. Manipulative patterns are a relatively new phenomenon in the media and are rarely noticed by media users. By definition, they lead to addictions, for example, to games. The aim of the undertaken research is to identify a common set of design practices within these so-called manipulative patterns in media products addressed to users, in particular children. The article points out a consensus in the design of manipulative patterns, as well as their common foundation: “dependence asymmetry”. Common features of attitudes towards manipulative patterns were also identified: users’ helplessness towards these practices and users getting used to them.
