Celem tekstu jest ocena potencjału ekumenicznego różnych współczesnych ujęć ekoteologii, które próbują uwzględniać osiągnięcia nauk przyrodniczych i społecznych. Zarysowano efekty ekumenicznego zainteresowania Kościołów ekologią, rozumianą jako pewien styl myślenia i działania, uwzględniający dobro środowiska naturalnego. Dla przykładu przedstawiono dwie komplementarne koncepcje pochodzące ze środowiska zachodniego i wschodniego chrześcijaństwa: interdyscyplinarna ekoteologia Thomasa Berry oraz etycznie zorientowana ekoteologia wg Johna Zizioulasa.

The aim of the text is to assess the ecumenical potential of various contemporary approaches to ecotheology, which try to take into account the achievements of natural and social sciences. It outlines the effects of the ecumenical interest of the Churches in ecology, understood as a certain style of thinking and acting, taking into account the good of the natural environment. The results of ecological interest in the Churches are discussed by numerous authors. For example, two complementary concepts from Western and Eastern Christianity are presented: Thomas Berry's Interdisciplinary Ecotheology and John Zizioulas' Ethically Oriented Ecotheology.

IT specialists engaged in the issues of evolutionary algorithms claim that there has been a transfer of knowledge from biology to computer science, i.e., certain findings in evolutionary biology have become an inspiration for the creation of algorithms whose function is analogous to that of naturally occurring evolutionary processes. If this is correct, the following question should beanswered: what is the extent of knowledge transfer from evolutionary biology to computer science dealing with evolutionary algorithms? Answering this question becomes possible after a prior review of the working mode of evolutionary algorithms.

The author of this publication undertook the task of analyzing the interpretations of the “eclipse of Darwinism” proposed so far in order to determine to what extent they correspond to reality. Having made his findings in this regard, he concluded that none of them adequately accounted for the collapse that struck Darwin’s theory during that period. Therefore, he decided to propose his own interpretation of the “eclipse of Darwinism,” he refers mainly to philosophical determinants of the Darwinian theory of evolution. --------------- Received: 04/08/2021. Od czasu powstania ostatniej wielkiej unifikacji biologii ewolucyjnej — nowoczesnej syntezy, utworzonej w latach czterdziestych dwudziestego wieku — odnotowano znaczący rozwój nauk biologicznych. Przyczynowość jednopoziomową i jednostronną zastąpiono przyczynowością wielopoziomową i dwustronną. Rozszerzona rama pojęciowa przezwycięża między innymi ograniczenia tradycyjnego, genocentrycznego sposobu wyjaśniania i oferuje nowe spojrzenie na rolę doboru naturalnego w procesie ewolucji. Dzięki temu inspiruje badania w nowych obszarach biologii ewolucyjnej.

Since the last major theoretical integration in evolutionary biology — the modern synthesis (MS) of the 1940s — the biosciences have made significant advances. The rise of molecular biology and evolutionary developmental biology, the recognition of ecological development, niche construction and multiple inheritance systems, the “-omics” revolution and the science of systems biology, among other developments, have provided a wealth of new knowledge about the factors responsible for evolutionary change. Some of these results are in agreement with the standard theory and others reveal different properties of the evolutionary process. A renewed and extended theoretical synthesis, advocated by several authors in this issue, aims to unite pertinent concepts that emerge from the novel fields with elements of the standard theory. The resulting theoretical framework differs from the latter in its core logic and predictive capacities. Whereas the MS theory and its various amendments concentrate on genetic and adaptive variation in populations, the extended framework emphasizes the role of constructive processes, ecological interactions and systems dynamics in the evolution of organismal complexity as well as its social and cultural conditions. Single-level and unilinear causation is replaced by multilevel and reciprocal causation. Among other consequences, the extended framework overcomes many of the limitations of traditional gene-centric explanation and entails a revised understanding of the role of natural selection in the evolutionary process. All these features stimulate research into new areas of evolutionary biology.
