The article contains a review of traditional typology of advertising in the context of linguistics, economy and sociology. The aim of the main part of the article is to highlight the lead advertising concept. Lead advertising is a unique practice of communication design which uses fluctuations in a social system. An aspect of key importance for this project are communicative offers maintained in advertising communication. Here, I aim at verifying lead advertising which organises the advertising communication space in the context of the proposed subject of study and is responsible for producing the world of experiencing a brand, organisation or product to a significant degree. In the end I suggest a new typology of lead advertising. In this context, I distinguish six types of advertising, namely: image advertising, reality show, storytelling, hidden advertising, mirror advertising and subversive advertising.

In the present article the author examines theoretical concept of market differentiations in Polish advertising, focusing in particular on press advertising. Market differentiations are understood in the article as a mechanism for generating and maintaining brand or product experience, or experience of an entire sector of the economy. These are cognitive-interpretative categories through which emerge product differentiations in possible communication offers. Market differentiations produce worlds of experiences, using relevant communication constructs for the purpose; they point to paradigmatic communication possibilities in a given situation and, taking into account static advertising, in a given market sector. From a functional perspective, market differentiations organise the communication system with regard to the production of brand/product experience by making it possible to communicate brand/product value by means of relevant communication constructs. Market differentiations are also responsible for intrasystemic distinction of a product of the same sector of the economy on the level of experience.

In the article I discuss the concept of innovation and progress with regard to the results of the design process within the framework of the communication design system. I understand the concept of innovation and progress as mechanisms controlling development on two different levels. In the case of innovation we can speak of a change within a given category, while in the case of progress — a change of the entire category. The concept will correspond to a given sector of the economy.

John Thackara emphasised that 80% of the negative impact on the natural environment has its origin in design and the randomness of its application. Considering the entirety of design practices, one would have a hard time disputing this. In contemporary times, design understood as design practices has assumed a servile role in relation to big corporations. One can observe the consequences of such practices in real time: social exclusion, the lack of design consideration or consideration of end users, the failure of branding, and the polarisation of entire societies – these are only some dimensions of the current applications of design (including graphic design). Instead of the current applications, we need a change in the paradigm of both the theory of design and practical applications. Design needs a new code of application which would not only look good in social media, but would also be a clear point of reference in the design practice.

Packaging design is usually associated with design arts, with particular emphasis on creation in the visual and technical dimensions, which is by definition a highly fragmented approach. There is still a lack of research on how end users perceive packaging. The subject of this article is the attempt to confirm the functional dependence in the field of packaging design. The main thesis, resulting from the previous empirical findings, is the distinction of two dimensions of the function for the finished packaging. This is a functional relationship between the form of the packaging and the packaging label – as it turns out, the packaging label fulfills other functions than the packaging form itself, which has a very serious impact on the design process and the design management process.
