Dedicated to the liturgical life of the Church, endowed with the genuine inclination to spiritual reflection and contemplation, with his fervent prayer and encouraging word, Metropolitan Anthony lit faith and the love of God in countless human hearts, and not just those of the students of Orthodoxy but of other religions, too. He embarked upon his personal journey to God at the age of 14 when he experienced a personal mystical encounter with Christ during his first thoughtful and in-depth reading of the Gospel. The accompanying transformation of consciousness consisted in a new perception of the world and people through the lens of God’s love and determined the extraordinary way of life of the future superior of the Orthodox Church in England.

Oddany życiu liturgicznemu Kościoła, posiadający wewnętrzną skłonność do refleksji duchowej i kontemplacji, metropolita Antoni swoją gorliwą modlitwą i płomiennym słowem zapalił w niezliczonych ludzkich sercach – nie tylko adeptów prawosławia, ale też innych wyznań – wiarę w Boga i miłość do Niego. Swoją osobistą drogę do Boga rozpoczął w wieku 14 lat, kiedy w trakcie pierwszego w swoim życiu, przemyślanego i wnikliwego czytania Ewangelii, przeżył osobiste mistyczne spotkanie z Chrystusem. Towarzysząca temu wydarzeniu przemiana świadomości hierarchy polegała na postrzeganiu świata i ludzi przez pryzmat Bożej miłości, definitywnie wyznaczyła ona dalszą, jakże niezwykłą drogę życiową przyszłego zwierzchnika Kościoła prawosławnego w Anglii.

The text contains a reconstruction of the biblical sense of the concept of foolishness, narrowed down to its specific use by Saint Paul in the Letter to the Corinthians, as well as a detailed presentation of how the meaning inherent in the latter use was implemented in the life and work of Father Gregory Krug, a 20th-century monk and iconographer. Based on the Pauline words “We are fools for the sake of Christ” (1 Cor 4:10), the term ‘foolish wisdom’ has provided a foundation for the type of holiness manifested by a number of figures in the Christian world, such as ascetics, mystics or yurodivys. It was the type of holiness Krug embraced, updating models of religiosity anchored in the Old Russian tradition and expressing his theological thought through icon writing, which was both a kind of service to God and a kind of theology; Krug’s knowledge of God was not discursive but drawn from his experience of contemplation and prayer. To lead the life of a monk and icon writer was a deliberate choice made by Krug who rejected theoretical theological reflection, while testifying to God with his life and his iconographic works. Although Father Gregory Krug had deep theological knowledge, he was primarily an icon writer and thus a ‘theologian of light.’

Choć posiadał on głęboką wiedzę teologiczną, to przede wszystkim był pisarzem ikon, „teologiem światła”.

Utwór Nabokova Письмо в Россию jest pod tym względem opowiadaniem modelowym. Czyni to, stosując dwojaką strategię.

The starting point of the proposed considerations is Mikhail Bakhtin’s notion of genre, according to which genre of an utterance presupposes a particular kind of existence in reality and a special relationship with the recipient. Nabokov’swork A LetterThat Never Reached Russia is a model short story in this respect. Its protago-nist – the author of the eponymous Letter, topicalizes the writer’s situation in exile and takes under consideration both being as well as existential (bytijnyj) aspect of emigration. It is achieved using a twofold strategy. First of all, the hero-writer uses a trick specific to Nabokov himself: he poeticizes Berlin’s space and, with the power of imagination, transforms being (everyday existence), the manner of inhabiting the Earth (Heidegger), emphasizing the role of the spiritual aspect of human existence as a source of happiness. Secondly, choosing the epistolary genre – a form of intimate expression – is also a kind of strategy that allows familiarizing an alien reality and actualizing the “trace” of the past in a solitary everyday life in exile.

The author analyzes one of methods of manipulating with victims of disinformation operations carried out by the Soviet/Russian special services, consisting of the inclusion of the disinformation agents during the operation, which seemingly offer the opportunity to verify the intelligence obtained by victims of disinformation from previous disinformation agents, but who may also - to win the trust of the victims - participate in unmasking and undermining trust in the agents previously used to deceive the vitims. This method is described graphically as the “matrix system”. The article, although describes the use of the “matrix system” on the example of Soviet counterintelligence activities against the white emigration in 1927, simultaneously attempts to put forward hypotheses based on assumptions of the described method, referring to contemporary events like the war in Georgia or infiltration by Russian services of groups placed on opposing extremes of the political spectrum.
