In this article the author made an attempt at demarcating the limits of the poetic language of Rafał Wojaczek, the crossing of which – as the author of this study thinks – opens before the poet a possibility of achieving the perfectness of the subject of his poems, portending the specter of madness. This project is combined with the problems of the crisis of identity being both the reason and the consequence of the many renewed attempts at its realisation. The author claims that from this point of view, it was in the Dziennik [Diary] (the first of the analysed texts) Wojaczek as an author his desire of perfection and discovers that it is unattainable beyond madness. Dziennik is also a place of the first experience of the crisis in view of which the debut Sezon [Season], and in particular the poem which opens that book, and which has the same title as the whole (another text submitted to interpretaion), is only its poetic rewriting. Such a view allows the author to reveal the intertextual opening. In the course of analysis of the poem, difficulties connected with the realisation of the project, i.e. obtaining oneself as authentic in the language, just defining of identity, the source of which is Arthur Rimbaud’s philosophy, is exposed. Nevertheless Wojaczek’s subject is neither a repetition of the model of Rimbaud nor its denial, but a transfer of elusiveness of the changeable “I”, expressed by means of the formula “I is someone else”, into the area of absence. The considerations are capped with the interpretation of the work Piszę wiersz [I am writing a poem], which is a poetic verification of diagnoses made by Wojaczek in Sezon.

In this article Ferdydurke is discussed as a forerunner of the logic of late capitalism with all its repercussions, as identified by Frederick Jameson. Gombrowicz’s novel is seen as an early prognosis of neoliberal ideology, with its demands for effectivity and productivity as well as negation of social and affective bonds. Margaret Thatcher’s aphorism: “there is no such thing as society” is a pretext for a critical analysis of Ferdydurke, including the feminist critics of the European vision of the subject built on fear of the Other. This feminist analysis of Ferdydurke reveals several problems with the notion of body – theories of Julia Kristeva (on abjection) and Lynda Nead (on the female nude) are employed to demonstrate this argument. The main conclusion that can be drawn from this analysis is that queer disruptions of the binary logic of gender oppositions do not necessarily produce anti-patriarchal results.

In my article I discuss the concept of the subject from the Lacanian psychoanalysis point of view. My aim is to show that the subject seen from such a perspective is condemned to total loneliness. I refer to three different points: otherness, comprehension and love. In Lacan’s psychoanalysis the difference is referred to as the Real (subject as je). The Real is in opposition to the Symbolic and Imaginary (subject as moi). Therefore, the world, other people and oneself can be understood as absolutely different. Taking such a definition of the otherness, the comprehension is impossible, because it takes place within symbolic sphere, which is false and alien to the subject (je). The otherness and inability of understanding determine treating love as transferred and always directed to imaginary subject. What is important, the theory of the subject as homo symbolicus, even though seemingly in agreement with anti-positivist theory, does not allow to cross lingual and to direct approaching to the otherness. The otherness may be deciphered only within the Imaginary as a disturbance within it, as a temporary lack of sense.

W tekście autorka przedstawia i interpretuje zarówno założenia teoretyczne analizowanej kategorii, jak i jej praktyczne implikacje wobec funkcjonowania ludzi w czasie kryzysu.

In the article Witkacego próba podmiotu – podmiot na próbę [Witkacy’s Attempt at a Subject – a Subject for a Test] the subjective identity of S.I. Witkiewicz is characterised by means of the widely understood category of a trial. This latter is interpreted from the view of theatrical aesthetics, but also philosophy, enables to show the biography and oeuvre of the artist from Zakopane as a continuous game between constructing and deconstructing of the subjective identity. The category of subjectivity becomes here a tool of revealing of the mechanisms, making it possible to remove boundaries between art and life, reality and fiction, literature and theory. Whereas in the interpretation proposed this attempt appears as a very literally understood experiencing of oneself, “putting oneself to the test”, but also as an attempt at literature (in the area of theory) and an attempt at theory (in the area of literature).

In her article author brings up a popular in the humanities sphere theme of subject and subjectivity. She tries though to show its particularity as regards pedagogy. Pedagogical formulation of this subject-matter particular value comes from the fact that pedagogy is ambitious to conceive the humanity and the upbringing process in integral way. It means that also the categories of subject and subjectivity get the pedagogical dimension when they are not offering services to any conceptions that reduce humanity only to certain dimensions - for instance: consciousness or unconsciousness, spirituality or carnality or else emotions etc. A proposition respecting this integral conceive of humanity is the conception of human person presented by Karol Wojtyla. The category of act is of great importance in it. An act - in the grasp of Wojtyla - surpasses a lot a normal activity, it has a power to spread across both the dynamism of conscious action and the strength of what ‘happens inside’ of a human being. That is the human act which seems to explain a human being and his subjectivity in the best way. The present article tries to substantiate this argument.

Postuluję zatem, aby systemy rozszerzone i sztuczne określać za pomocą nazwy „agent” oznaczającej wszelki relatywnie autonomiczny system przetwarzający informacje w celu wykonania zadania poznawczego.

Zgodnie z art. 2 ust. 1 u.d.i.p. prawo dostępu do informacji publicznej przysługuje „każdemu”.

At the end of the 19th century, two monographs on empirical psychology were published: W. Wundt’s Grundzüge der physiologischen Psychologie and F. Brentano’s Psychologie vom empirischen Standpunkt. They set different research standards, indicating a differently defined subject as well as the methodology of the new science. The psychology of the 20th and 21st centuries focused mainly on Wundt’s program, while Brentano’s program was included in philosophical analyses. However, this led to significant changes in psychology, which today can be seen as deep reductionism, narrowing the subject matter, and difficulties in constructing theories. In the article, I suggest that it might be helpful to recall the basic assumptions of Brentano’s psychology and the schools derived from it, such as e.g. the Lvov‑Warsaw School. Therefore, the article aims to indicate the theoretical space that has been emerging for some time, in which the school of Kazimierz Twardowski could present original philosophical and psychological achievements.

The article centers around philosophical conceptions and social theories that form a socio-cultural perspective of perceiving the concepts of the subject and identity. The context of the subjectivity/ identity of individuals enables to provide a theoretical framework for and to highlight the means and processes of establishing individuals as the subjects of social life and situating them in various places and structures of social hierarchies. In the social space, diverse meanings are produced and consolidated in the texts of culture that can form the base for understanding the phenomena which fall within the field of interest of special education, namely the processes of assigning meanings associated with disability and the mechanisms that take part in the social forming of the subjects perceived as disabled.

The text presents an analysis of selected films, both Polish (Pora umierać, Dzikie róże, Cicha noc) and foreign (Grüße aus Fukushima, Con el viento) and artistic projects which address the issue of home in terms of matter/meaning and intra-activities between human and non-human subjects. The methodology of the analysis is based on post-human theories of Karen Barad and her idea of agential realism, and Rosi Braidotti and her concept of a reconfiguration of the post-human subject and of ethical micro policy. There are also some references to Félix Guattari and the idea of multiple ecologies: social, environmental, and mental.

The person as a subject paradigm is gaining in importance nowadays. Subjectivity is a fundamental desideratum in social sciences, especially in pedagogy. The category “subjectivity” is defined in different ways. Most often it is understood as a personal and social value or as a social ideal and the assumption of social ontologies, as well as an assumption about the primacy of subjectively active individuals in relation to the social structure. This type of issue is taken up by various disciplines. First of all, by philosophy, psychology, sociology and pedagogy. Among various philosophical concepts, it is worth paying special attention to personalism, which interprets man and the whole reality in the context of the phenomenon of the human person. Psychology emphasizes that man is the subject of his activity when he is autonomous towards the environment and consciously influences the external world. Psychology analyzes also various internal determinations of the human person. Pedagogy treats the issue of subjectivity as an idea, value, goal and postulate of educational activity, something that should be achieved. The development of one’s own subjectivity is important for every human being. A person, in order to function in a subjective way, should properly shape his personality. The task of educators is to help individuals in shaping their own subjectivity and self-reliance.

Article presents the positions of two philosophers whose visions are definitely different from each other. The aim is to present the original concept of education based on the worldviews of Paul Häberlin and Adam Węgrzecki. Häberlin claims that reaching the ethical ideal is impossible, and therefore recommends surrendering to the all-embracing grace of God. The eternal struggle between conscience and drives appears absurd, because evil is an eternal, inseparable part of the soul and this fact must be accepted. Instead of striving for the ethical ideal, Häberlin recommends striving for happiness and being yourself. He supports upbringing to christianity. Conscience struggles should be considered an educator and these struggles be fought to the end. Man should be guided primarily by the ethos of thinking, then the ethos of conscience and religion. Whereas Węgrzecki focuses on the axiology and philosophy of the meeting. It presents the vision of man as a being facing choice. The choice concerns value. Unlike Häberlin, he does not raise the issue of religion. Man is a free and conscious being, it is up to him to make a decision. Other people often influence a choice of values by human. A real meeting helps to find oneself, it changes a person, it also changes the perception of values. According to the polish philosopher, man shapes himself, makes decisions and is responsible for them. In trying to combine the worldviews of both philosophers, there arise certain conclusions regarding upbringing. By instilling noble values in the pupils, perhaps they should be made aware that the choices are not always easy, that sometimes their desires are contrary to the will and the accepted values, that mistakes are actually inevitable. Pupils should be surrounded by acceptance, even if they stray from the ethical path. However, this does not mean that negative behavior should be left without consequences. Pupils should be encouraged to get to know themselves and become themselves, as well as to be open to interpersonal relationships and strive for happiness. Living in accordance with the chosen moral values brings a sense of happiness and inner peace.

Zamiast dążenia do ideału etycznego, zaleca dążenie do szczęścia i bycie sobą. Popiera wychowanie do chrześcijaństwa. Życie w zgodzie z wybranymi wartościami moralnymi przynosi poczucie szczęścia i wewnętrzny spokój.

The paper analyses the first part of The Matrix trilogy with a view of discussing its dialogue with posthumanism in the context of utopianism. It argues that the film’s dialogue with posthumanism follows the logic of “both/and,” in which contrasting perspectives are juxtaposed and embraced. On the one hand, the film can be interpreted as a critical dystopia, whereby the way out of the nightmare of posthuman future is sought in the return of “the thinking subject” of the Cartesian tradition. On the other hand, the film encourages the viewer to take seriously the radically anti-anthropocentric premise of posthumanism. In such reading, the utopia of the Matrix offers a way out of the ecological apocalypse engineered by human beings.
PL
Z drugiej strony, film zachęca widza do poważnego potraktowania radykalnie anty-antropomorifcznych przesłanek posthumanizmu. W takim odczytaniu Matrix stanowi utopijną odpowiedź na ekologiczną apokalipsę, do której doprowadził gatunek ludzki.

This essay considers the subjects of rebellion and anarchy in the work of Witold Gombrowicz from his debut to his last pieces. Both issues are related to two of the central oppositions in his work, maturity versus immaturity and superiority versus inferiority. In his considerations, Jerzy Olejniczak does not attempt to settle any issues or to advance arbitrary claims. Rather, he assumes the authorial position characteristic of the genre of the literary essay, asking questions and suggesting routes of exploration. This position allows him to essay to read passages from Gombrowicz through the prism of the present day and to submit that Gombrowicz’s “lessons” have not been thoroughly learned in Poland, owing largely but not exclusively to political and ideological machinations.
PL
W wywodzie autor nie pretenduje do rozstrzygania i stawiania arbitralnych tez, przyjmuje raczej pozycję związaną z gatunkiem eseju literackiego – wątpliwości i próby.
