W tekście autorka ujmuje szeroko rozumianą starość w odniesieniu do aksjologicznie pojmowanej kategorii dojrzewania, wykraczającej w przyjętym znaczeniu poza aspekt biologiczny.

In the text, the author presents old age and the process of ageing in relation to axiologically perceived “maturing” category which is transgressing, in the assumed meaning, the biological aspect. The author examines ageing as the process of maturing to fullness of humanity, manifested in reaching transcendental values. Ageing perceived in this way is compared to the chosen conceptions of ageing. The author analyses ageing as maturing from a holistic and biographic perspective; as a result of activity of a conscious subject and the process of learning. The author also includes the axiological approach to ageing as maturing in the field of geragogical reflection as a subdiscipline of pedagogy.
