In 2005, the economic development of Slovakia was positively influenced by the successful implementation of the structural reforms in the previous years. High level of the economic growth was combined with the favourable macroeconomic stability. The GDP growth was achieved mainly due to the overall growth of the resources and the total factor productivity. The fiscal and monetary policies also contributed to the suitable overall macroeconomic stability. The forecast of the economic growth for the year 2006 is based on the analysis of the possible development of the domestic and foreign demand. Further increase of the economic growth is anticipated.
