It is not only important what a person eats, but also as a split-day food intake. Biologically valuable food covers the physiological needs of man in proportion to his needs and to the conditions of its environment in relation to age, sex, type of work and the physiological state. Authors in this paper highlights the fact that only eating a varied diet will help us to achieve the necessary balance of nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and trace elements in the body and at the same time as with physical activity becomes successful protection against many diseases, particularly cardiovascular.

Authors in this presentation suggest a role for Public health and Nursing as an institution focused on serving and protecting and promoting the health, quality of life, education and health monitoring of compliance programs. They point to the increasingly important role in health policy at the european and at the world level. Dominant objectives of European Union programs are particularly health promotion and disease prevention, improving living conditions, quality and access to health services. Gradually, they create the individual attributes such as health safety, health promotion, quality of life. Authors characterize the health status of the EU population as well as Slovak population and detailing programs of the EU and Slovakia in the field of public health. They approaching the issue of lifestyle diseases to their risk factors. Authors do not forget to the role of public health in the health of children and youth, with specific issues in old age.

The authors of this report deals with the role of Public Health in Children and Youth HealthStrategic directives to improve the health and development of children and adolescents based on the implementation of the European Strategy, which underline the seven main priorities: maternal and newborn health, nutrition and physical activity, infectious diseases, injuries and violence, environment, adult age and psychosocial development and mental health. The most important preventive measures for children and adolescents include: preventive examinations, vaccination, screening tests, nutrition – prevention of eating disorders and injury prevention safety. Considering on the mostly close relationship with children in the community where doctors and nurses are working, the doctor becomes the figure who through lectures, for example, in primary schools, personal meetings affects the health awareness of children, their trend towards healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and prevention of lifestyle diseases. No need not forget especially the role of nurses in ordination – nurse – educator. Her most important task is to „educate“ and „learn“ the correct habits that encourage the protection of their health by the client himself. Conscientiously fulfill their duties and pleasant demeanor nurse thus contributes to the correct learn the basics lifestyle has on children.

Authors try to point out the risks of the Roma community, based on the specifics of their culture, thought, and values of a lifestyle with that they alive. They are delivering characteristics of segregated Roma settlements, reflect on the state of health of the Roma community, which is related to their social problems. Authors are discussing in detail numbers of risk factors that affect the health of the Roma community. Based on these characteristics authors point to the fact that the Roma ethnic group is a way of lifestyle for the group with a high incidence of risk of many diseases. Finally, they reflect on options and proposals for solution of the Roma population proposition.

The authors point to balanced nutrition in children with heart disease, which is not easy at all in terms of age and nutrition, and with respect to the limitations of heart disease. heart disease in childhood is a very comprehensive set of diseases, including congenital malformations, arrhythmias, valvular defects, hypertension. Congenital heart defects include situations where the heart attack is present at birth. In the czech republic approximately 500 children with heart defect are born annually. The aim of the paper is to make recommendations on how to properly choose the right foods for children with heart disease. it is important to exclude industrially produced salt foods, limiting salt and fat intake. These measures can be approached very individually with respect to the child‘s age, surgery, associated dg., medication. The whole family should always be involved so that the child does not suffer, it is not our intention to psychically distract the child. it should also take into account age, sex. a mildly reducing diet if overweight or obesity is always a risk! in the case of a very young child, such as breast-fed infants, it is important for these measures to be followed by a nursing mother. Nutrition is most important not only for children with heart disease, because they may need to take care of themselves in order to prevent their condition from becoming fatal at the end, as well as prevention and healthy lifestyle.

The authors deals with the health of the EU population. The health of the Slovak population has improved since 2000, but it still lags behind the EU average. Slovaks live longer, but differences in life expectancy by gender and socio-economic groups persist. In the Slovak health care system, care is provided to all residents, although access to it is limited in some regions and quality and efficiency can improve in many areas. Most Slovaks report good health, but there are differences according to income groups. About two thirds of the Slovak population report good health, a ratio similar to the EU average, but higher than in most neighboring countries. However, according to their own health assessment, there are differences in socio-economic status. The health of the Slovak population has improved since 2000, but it still lags behind the EU average.
