IT systems are an inherent attribute of every enterprise. A Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a special program used to manage a warehouse. The article presents characteristics and assessment of applying WMS class IT systems in the context of the possibility to implement it into an enterprise’s logistics and its integration with Enterprise Research Planning (ERP) class systems. Advantages resulting from this system’s implementation into an enterprise’s logistics have been described. They show how crucial an appropriate IT software is for rational warehouse management. Another important aspect discussed in the article is the possibility of this system’s integration with a superior system of the enterprise (ERP) as well as other systems which use global standards of identification.
