Tłumacząc HOME i HOMELAND. Od poetyki do polityki

In order to translate the English words home and homeland, as well as to compare their semantics with that of their counterparts in other languages, one must explore complex and culturally conditioned conceptual spheres in the languages involved. Rather than providing ready-made answers, the article attempts to delineate the areas of philological considerations and textual analyses, including corpus research, necessary to achieve this aim. Gaston Bachelard’s “poetics of space”, proposed for French, is compared with the Polish context. Preliminary results of corpus analysis of English, German, French, and Polish are presented. Lublin ethnolinguistics is mentioned as an important player.

Tłumaczenie na inne jezyki angielskich słów home ‘dom’ i homeland ‘ojczyzna’ oraz porównanie ich semantyki ze znaczeniem ich tłumaczeniowych odpowiedników wymaga eksploracji złozonych i kulturowo uwarunkowanych sfer pojeciowych funkcjonujacych w rozpatrywanych jezykach. Artykuł nie podaje gotowych rozwiazan, lecz stara sie zakreslic obszary rozwazan filologicznych i tekstologicznych analiz, w tym badan korpusowych, niezbednych do osiagniecia tego celu. Omówiona zostaje „poetyka przestrzeni” Gastona Bachelarda, proponowana dla francuskiego w porównaniu z jezykiem polskim; sformułowane sa wstepne wnioski z analizy danych korpusowych z jezyka angielskiego, niemieckiego, francuskiego i czeskiego. Zwraca sie uwage na dokonania lubelskiej etnolingwistyki.
