The article deals with the problem of Ovidius phenomenon in the context of general principles of the interpretation theory. The understanding of the artist’s fate in Polish, Austrian and Ukrainian literature of the second half of the 20th century has been investigated. The work also exposes the peculiarity of the ancient Roman writer’s transformation from a historicalpersonality into a literary image.

Artykuł został poświęcony fenomenowi Publiusza Ovidiusa Nazona, a także jego transformacji z postaci historycznej w obraz literacki. W ujęciu komparatystycznym przeanalizowane zostały interpretacje biografii artysty w polskiej, austriackiej oraz ukraińskiej literaturze drugiej połowy XX wieku.
