Artillerymen taking part in operations conducted under the auspices of the United Nations did not carry out kinetic attacks. However, the subsequent transformations of the security environment made it necessary to alter the composition of the forces involved in peacekeeping operations, which led to the addition of fire-support elements, including artillery assets. The author’s study, based on documents from subsequent operations and surveys in the form of interviews, presents artillery as an element of forces involved in peacekeeping operations, whose significant influence on the security level of operations’ participants has been substantially evolving for the last two decades. However, the character of artillery involvement has been changing. Initially, it was only connected with the improvement of artillerymen’s skills. Then, it evolved into professional firesupport. Lastly, it turned into provision of training for newly-formed artillery sub-units in the area of the conducted operations.
