W artykule analizowano cztery miasta: Lwów, Lublin, Łuck oraz Brześć. Charakter przygraniczny badanych miast jest ważnym uwarunkowaniem ich potencjału społeczno-ekonomicznego. Przyszłość 4 głównych miast Euroregionu autorzy widzą w wykorzystaniu nowego znaczenia komunikacyjnego, rozwoju usług oraz restrukturyzacji i prywatyzacji istniejących przedsiębiorstw przemysłowych, a także w szerszym włączeniu w sieć powiązań przepływów z inymi miastami europejskimi.

Regional development is characterized by a large polarization. Its main poles are cities especially large ones which create development impulses for surround areas. The cities situated on borderlands which have possibilities to become catalyst of a development for the terrains situated along the border of several countries — gain a special significance. That is the case of the Bug Euroregion. Lvov, Lublin, Brest and Luck are the main centres of population 's concentration and social-economic activity on the area of Polish-Belarusian-Ukrainian borderland. The purpose of the article is to depict the social-economic potential of those cities on the basis of statistical data for year 2005. (original abstract)
