Z roku na rok wzrasta wielkość popytu na usługi lotnicze. W efekcie, do 2020 roku wielkość natężenia ruchu lotniczego może wzrosnąć dwukrotnie, a w niektórych obszarach Europy nawet trzykrotnie. System zarządzania ruchem lotniczym nie jest przygotowany pod kątem operacyjnym, by móc sprostać szybko rosnącym potrzebom użytkowników. Przestrzeń powietrzna rozpościerająca się nad Europą jest rozdrobniona wzdłuż granic państwowych. W opracowaniu opisane zostały realia wdrażania programu jednolitej europejskiej przestrzeni powietrznej, jako szansy integracji i modernizacji systemu zarządzania ruchem lotniczym w Europie.

Each year the demand of aviation services is increasing. As a result, by 2020 the volume of air traffic could rise twice and in some areas of Europe even tripled. Air traffic management system is not ready to meet rapidly growing demand. European airspace is fragmented according to national borders. This study describes the realities of the implementation of the Single European Sky, as a chance to integrate and modernize air traffic management system in Europe.
