This article discusses letters written by Zygmunt Celichowski to Alfons Parczewski. The letters are currently held in the Lithuanian Archives of Old Records in Vilnius. The letters concern the social activity performed by both the author and the recipient.

At the end of the 1920s, Alfons Parczewski, nearly eighty at that time, published his recollections of the January Uprising in 1863. He describes the events that took place in his family’s estate in Wodzierady and in the surrounding region. He also recalls the reminiscences of the insurgent commandersthat he knew and his parents, who supported the insurrection. The selected fragments of A. Parczewski’s memoirs relating to insurgent actions in Szadek region were supplemented with information from other sources. All this provides a picture of the life of the inhabitants of Szadek and the surrounding localities during the insurrection in the first half of the 1860s.

Pod koniec lat 20. XX w. blisko 80-letni Alfons Parczewski opublikował wspomnienia z powstania styczniowego 1863 r. Wraca w nich do wydarzeń, które rozgrywały się w jego rodzinnym majątku w Wodzieradach i otaczającym regionie. Przywołuje wspomnienia poznanych dowódców powstańczych i rodziców wspierających powstanie. Wybrane fragmenty wspomnień A. Parczewskiego, odnoszące się do działań powstańczych w okolicach Szadku, zostały uzupełnione o informacje pochodzące z innych źródeł. Dopełniają one obraz wydarzeń w kontekście powstańczych doświadczeń mieszkańców Szadku i otaczających go miejscowości w pierwszej połowie lat 60. XIX w.

This article describes the contents of the letters written in 1889–1919 by Adolf Černý to the siblings Alfons and Melania Parczewski in Kalisz, which are preserved in the Lithuanian National Historical Archives in Vilnius. They concern the personal and scientific-literary relations between the correspondents, and the subject of Lusatia is often raised. The presentation of their contents is preceded by information on Adolf Černý’s letters that had been previously published as well as a biographical sketch of their author and his addressees. Melania Parczewska was a writer, publicist and translator as well as a social, cultural and political activist, and her brother, the lawyer Alfons Parczewski, was a social and political activist and defender of minorities’ rights.
