Głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie dostępnych w Polsce podstawowych źródeł danych potrzebnych do oceny przeżywalności przedsiębiorstw i "demografii przedsiębiorstw" oraz omówienie możliwości ich wykorzystania. Dobrej jakości dane są podstawą do analizy i oceny struktury i dynamiki populacji przedsiębiorstw, co jest istotne z punktu widzenia gospodarki i jej rozwoju. Badania prowadzone na wszystkich podmiotach lub na próbach reprezentatywnych pozwalają ocenić szanse przeżycia tych jednostek, określić czynniki wpływające na ich przeżycie i cykl życia oraz likwidację. The article discusses the primary sources of information to analyze the survival of enterprises in Poland. Pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of sources such as: REGON (Business Register), KRS (National Court Register), VAT, BJS (Base Statistical Units) and the CSO surveys. A micro and small enterprises sample survey was indicated as the most useful for assessing the survival of micro-enterprises. It complements the study based on annual survey of enterprises with more than 9 employees. Recent legislative changes indicate the possibility of improving the validity of data in the Register of Enterprises (REGON) being the most complete source of data on the number and structure of business entities in Poland.
