The article presents the characteristics of hazards and the risk assessment of their occurrence in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The identification of today's threats caused by forces of nature and people require taking actions within the framework of civil protection as well as infrastructure projects of a significant influence on the proper functioning of the State in a particular region. The high costs associated with maintaining constant readiness of rescue forces in order to prevent and deal with any type of threats hamper their continuance.
