The methods for analyzing cross-classified tables are usually to test relations between two variables taken one pair at a time. Further development of those methods allowed to move from two dimensional tables to high dimensional tables, where dimensionality of a cross-table refers to the number of variables. It allowed to transform nonmodel- based to model-based methods providing the equation of a mathematical model, the use of estimation method and variety of visualizing tools. This paper describes how complex qualitative data may be described by a mathematical model. One of the method presented is log-linear analysis.

Dynamic financial analysis has become an important tool for modeling operations of insurance companies. This analysis is used, among others, in revealing the main factors determining the financial performance of insurers. This paper identifies the determinants of the performance of general insurance companies in Poland using a panel dataset consisting of a firm specific factors and macroeconomic factors over the period 2006-2013. Six financial performance measures are used to capture different aspects of the insurance operations. These performance measures are related to nine cited business-specific and macroeconomic variables, chosen on the basis of relevant theory and literature. A weight least square (WLS) method and intergroup method for each of six performance models are used to estimate the parameters of these models. The empirical results prove that there is a statistically significant relationship between the following variables with profitability performance being-negatively affected by underwriting activity (represented the net claims ratio variable) and by the net operating expenses variable. It was also shown that the size of a company has positive relationship with its profitability. The study also confirmed a statistically significant and positive relationships between profitability ratio of technical activity and the macroeconomic variable (rate of GDP) as well as positive impact of the motor gross written premiums ratio variable on the profitability ratio of technical activity. The purpose of this article is to present the algorithm of fourfold display as the method used in the analysis based on binary, socio-economic nominal variables. In order to identify the advantages and disadvantages of this method correspondence analysis was introduced to study as an alternative method. To demonstrate possible applications of the method were used data from the European Social Survey (improving knowledge/skills: course/lecture/conference depending on age, gender, country and having a job. Conducted analyzes showed that the greater variation in the perception of training courses occurs between older and younger people. Because of the gender differences are no longer significant.

Artykuł przedstawia charakterystykę i zalety wykorzystania graficznej formy analizy danych potwierdzone empirycznym badaniem. Opisywane w nim trendy dotyczą wykorzystania wizualizacji w odniesieniu do najnowszych rozwiązań w dziedzinie analityki biznesowej.

The article presents the characteristics and advantages of using graphical forms of data analysis confirmed by empirical study. It presents trends of visualization in the reference to the latest developments in the field of business intelligence. The article describes the criteria for assessing the value of data visualization methods used to obtain information from the data. Empirical analysis in the article aims to identify the areas where exploration can help to create solutions that improve the situation, for example in the labor market field.
