Efektywne zarządzanie współczesnymi organizacjami wymaga docenienia i odpowiedniego wykorzystania kapitału ludzkiego. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie istoty i unikatowych cech kapitału ludzkiego oraz wynikającego z nich ryzyka i specyfiki zarządzania tym kapitałem. Szczególną rolę w tym procesie odgrywa pomiar wartości kapitału ludzkiego oraz inwestowanie w jego rozwój, gdyż są to nieodłączne działania ukierunkowane na zmniejszenie luki kompetencyjnej zarówno na poziomie poszczególnych jednostek, jak też całej organizacji.

Effective management of modern organizations requires recognition and proper use of human capital. This article aims to present the essence and unique characteristics of human capital and the ensuing risks and specific management of the capital. A special role in this process is measuring the amount of human capital and investing in its development, because they are inherent in activities aimed at reducing the competence gap at the individual units as well as the entire organization.
