Ukraińska autokefalia rok po ustanowieniu: reakcje i dylematy świata prawosławnego

The present article is a reflection on the ways the Ukrainian autocephaly is received in the Orthodox world one year after its establishment. The topic has been discussed in three parts. First, the author has presented the stand of Constantinople and Moscow on the establishment of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Next, he discussed the reactions of other Orthodox Churches to Ukrainian autocephaly. In the final part, the author focused on the attempt at an agreement on this issue undertaken in Amman (2020). In the course of his reflection, the author stated that so far only three out of fourteen Orthodox Churches acknowledged Ukrainian autocephaly (Constantinople, Alexandria and Greece); seven Churches hold a negative stand (Antioch, Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbia, Poland, Albany, Czech Republic and Slovakia); the remaining four Churches (of Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus) have not formulated a unequivocal opinion in this matter.

W artykule podjęto refleksję nad stanem recepcji ukraińskiej autokefalii w świecie prawosławnym po roku od jej ustanowienia. Temat został rozwinięty w trzech częściach. Najpierw przedstawiono stanowisko Konstantynopola i Moskwy w sprawie ustanowienia autokefalicznego Kościoły Prawosławnego Ukrainy. Następnie omówiono reakcje pozostałych Kościołów prawosławnych na ukraińską autokefalię. W końcowej części zwrócono uwagą na podjętą w Ammanie (2020 r.) próbę porozumienia w tej sprawie. W toku refleksji m.in. stwierdzono, że dotąd tylko 3 z 14 autokefalicznych Kościołów prawosławnych uznały ukraińską autokefalię (Konstantynopol, Aleksandria i Grecja); negatywne stanowisko prezentuje 7 Kościołów (Antiochii, Jerozolimy, Moskwy, Serbii, Polski, Albania oraz Czech i Słowacji); pozostałe 4 Kościoły (Gruzji, Rumunii, Bułgarii i Cypru) nie sformułowały jednoznacznego stanowiska w badanej sprawie.

De Facto or De Iure? Ukrainian Autocephaly as a Contentious Issue in Orthodoxy

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja spornej w dzisiejszym prawosławiu kwestii ukraińskiej autokefalii. Temat został rozwinięty w czterech częściach. Na początku przedstawiono sposób ogłaszania autokefalii w prawosławiu. Następnie ukazano historię ustanowienia ukraińskiej autokefalii. W trzeciej części zaprezentowano problemy związane z uznaniem ukraińskiej autokefalii w świecie prawosławnym. W końcowej części zestawiono wyniki refleksji i sformułowano wnioski. Wynika z nich, że prawosławie nie posiada jednoznacznych regulacji kanonicznych co do ustanawiania autokefalii i z tym łączą się kontrowersje wokół ukraińskiej autokefalii. Składają się na nie zwłaszcza trzy kwestie teologiczno-kanoniczne: 1) przynależność jurysdykcyjna metropolii kijowskiej; 2) sposób ustanowienia ukraińskiej autokefalii; 3) ważności święceń sprawowanych przez niektórych duchownych nowego Kościoła Prawosławnego Ukrainy. Ostatecznie stwierdzić należy, że definitywne rozwiązanie spornej kwestii ukraińskiej autokefalii wymaga porozumienia na poziomie całego prawosławia.

The purpose of this article is to present the contentious issue of Ukrainian autocephaly in today’s Orthodox Church. The topic is developed in four sections. Firstly, the method of proclaiming autocephaly in the Orthodox Church is presented. Then the history of establishing Ukrainian autocephaly is shown. The third section presents the problems related to the recognition of Ukrainian autocephaly in the Orthodox world. The final section sums up the results of the reflection and draws conclusions. They demonstrate that the Orthodox Church does not have unambiguous canonical regulations on the establishment of autocephaly, resulting in controversies surrounding Ukrainian autocephaly. The controversies consist especially of three theological-canonical issues: (1) the jurisdictional affiliation of the Kyiv Metropolitan See; (2) the manner of establishing Ukrainian autocephaly; and (3) the validity of the ordination of certain clergy of the new Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Finally, it is concluded that a definitive solution to the contentious issue of Ukrainian autocephaly requires agreement at the level of the whole Orthodox Church.

Sobór zjednoczeniowy ukraińskiego prawosławia, który odbył się w dniu 15 grudnia 2018 roku, oraz nadanie tomosu o autokefalii przez patriarchę konstantynopolitańskiego Bartłomieja I w dniu 6 stycznia 2019 roku, zapoczątkowały trwający do chwili obecnej proces przechodzenia wspólnot religijnych Ukraińskiego Kościoła Prawosławnego Patriarchatu Moskiewskiego, podległych Rosyjskiej Cerkwi Prawosławnej, pod jurysdykcję nowo utworzonego Kościoła Prawosławnego na Ukrainie. Celem artykułu jest analiza rywalizacji o wiernych, przybierająca formę wojny informacyjnej. Ponadto, przeanalizowano najważniejsze akty prawne, przyjęte przez Radę Najwyższą Ukrainy, dające podstawę prawną przedmiotowemu procesowi, a także – w takim zakresie jak jest to możliwe – przestawiono ogólne dane statystyczne, obrazujące jego dynamikę.

The Unification Council of the Orthodox churches of Ukraine held on 15th December 2018 and the granting of the tomos on autocephaly by the Patriarch of Constantinople, the Bartholomew I on 6th January 2019, have initiated, lasting to date, the religious communities’ conversion process from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) subordinated to the Russian Orthodox Church, to the jurisdiction of newly established Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The article’s aim is the analysis of the rivalry on followers, that has transformed into the informational war. Furtherly, the most important laws providing the juridical foundation for the process implemented by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were analysed, and – as widely as possible – the basic statistical data on its intensity was investigated.
