The author discusses the findings of surveys conducted among businesspeople hiring disabled workers in Poland’s southern Małopolska province. The surveys also examine the attitude of private businesses to companies that employ disabled workers and are thus eligible for “Supported Employment Enterprise” status. According to critics, such companies enjoy tax and organizational privileges that contradict the need for equal treatment of all businesses in the marketplace. The preferential treatment of companies hiring disabled workers-regardless of their professional skills, as long as they are officially classified as disabled-is against the logic of equal opportunities, Michalczyk says. Preferential treatment of one group of businesses means discrimination against other groups. The surveys were carried out using methods including literature studies. The sample of respondents was selected taking into account geographic and business criteria. The surveys testify to the prevalence of a negative perception of “Supported Employment Enterprises” in their role as competitors and business partners on the market, Michalczyk concludes. At the same time, the surveys showed that disabled workers are often hired against economic logic, the author notes. “Supported Employment Enterprises” are in fact subsidized by their competitors, Michalczyk says, which is against the principles of a free market economy and the basic purpose of their existence, which is to help disabled people enter or return to the labor market.

The sejmik (dietine) records of the Old Polish period are an invaluable source material concerning almost all aspects of the everyday life of that time. In the Małopolska (Little Poland) province, apart from the general sejmik sporadically held in Nowe Miasto Korczyn and occasional assemblies of the nobility from some lands and districts, there were 17 regular sejmiks. The paper first discusses all the editions of sejmik resolutions that have so far appeared in print. The study then presents the next volumes of this kind of source texts that are under preparation for publication. When describing the process of editing sejmik records, attention was drawn to the research centers that have made contributions to this research field, and to individual historians involved in such undertakings. The text also stresses the changes that took place in the first decades of the 20th century, when publishers took into account various categories of sources concerning the functioning of Old Polish sejmiks. A lot of room is devoted to the scope of library and archival research and to major stores of source materials that were and still are used by editors. The paper closes with a list of all existing and planned publications that are expected to appear in this field in the coming years.

Akta sejmikowe okresu staropolskiego stanowią nieoceniony materiał źródłowy, odnoszący się do wielu aspektów ówczesnego życia codziennego. W prowincji małopolskiej, pomijając sporadycznie odbywający się sejmik generalny w Nowym Mieście Korczynie oraz okazjonalne zjazdy szlachty z niektórych ziem i powiatów, funkcjonowało 17 sejmików. W artykule omówiono najpierw wszystkie edycje uchwał sejmikowych, które dotychczas ukazały się drukiem. Następnie przedstawiono kolejne już tomy tego rodzaju wydawnictw źródłowych, które są przygotowywane do wydania. Przybliżając proces edycji akt sejmikowych zwrócono uwagę na ośrodki naukowe, które zasłużyły się na tymże polu badawczym oraz poszczególnych historyków zaangażowanych w tego rodzaju przedsięwzięcia. W tekście akcentowano także zmiany, jakie następowały w pierwszych dekadach XX w., przy uwzględnianiu przez wydawców rożnych kategorii źródeł odnoszących się do funkcjonowania staropolskich sejmików. Wiele miejsca poświęcono również zakresowi kwerend oraz ważniejszym zasobom źródłowym, które były i są wykorzystywane przez edytorów. W zakończeniu dokonano zestawienia wszystkich publikacji oraz planowanych wydawnictw, jakie spodziewane są na tym polu edytorstwa w najbliższych latach.
