Adopting as main conceptual framework the proposals of the important thinker and poet from Martinica, Édouard Glissant (1928-2011), about a “poetics of relation”, the article considers the way in which a significant part of the contemporary Spanish speaking literary creation - precisely in virtue of its hybrid or mixed cultural nature - is a good example of the fertility of Glissant’s “poetics of relation” - in which other key concepts of Glissant’s theoretical point of view, like the “archipelagic thought” and the “Whole-World”, are included. Thus, the convergence between certain theoretical perspectives rooted in the francophone Caribbean context and similar intuitions literary developed in the Hispanic American region is highlighted.

Tezy stawiane w niniejszym szkicu bazują na doświadczeniach konkretnej wspólnoty umiejscowionej w czasie i przestrzeni próbują odpowiedzieć na postawione pytanie w kontekście kulturoznawczym i antropologicznym stawiając tezę o zwrotach autarkicznych, z których pierwszy miał miejsce na przełomie XIX i XX wieku, z drugim zaś o charakterze metaautarkicznym mamy do czynienie w czasach nam współczesnych. Pogranicza europejskie, zwłaszcza te w Europie Środkowej i Zachodniej, wydają się być przestrzenią zasypanych lęków, jednakże wydarzenia z lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX w. na Bałkanach oraz – czy też zwłaszcza – sytuacja na Ukrainie w roku 2014 skłaniają do refleksji, iż bezpieczeństwo i dostatek współczesnego świata, w tym przede wszystkim Europy, są coraz szybciej i punktowo wypierane przez płynność i lęk, a obszary niepewności rozrastają się w tempie nieznanym dotychczas społeczeństwom świata zachodniego.

Modern world happens to be as close, palpable and testable as it is distant, unsure and deprived of any predictability. The imbalance between the reality and the illusion of parallel worlds, which instead of filling in the gap after degraded traditional communities exclusively deepening the loneliness of an individual, bears numerous features of certain cultural schizophrenia, which may begin to decide on a totally new paradigm characterizing modern times. It seems that never before (excluding the decades of direct influence) has the questionable heritage of naïve humanism, in the form of 19th‑century legacy of evolutionism assuming omnipresent linearity of development always heading in the direction of placing a human and Western culture on the highest level of the development of humanity, had enjoyed such triumph as in the modern times.
