Zadaniem statystyki jest informowanie różnych grup użytkowników o sytuacji ekonomicznej, demograficznej, społecznej oraz środowiska naturalnego, a przede wszystkim zapewnienie wsparcia informacyjnego w programowaniu polityki rozwoju na wielu szczeblach decyzyjnych. W artykule omówiono m.in. europejską strategię rozwoju Europa 2020, europejski okres oceny (tzw. Europejski Semestr), Krajowy Program Reform, a także mechanizmy nadzoru makroekonomicznego.

The task of statistics is to provide reliable information to different user groups, including recipients of statistics at different levels of decision-making. Providing information support in decision making and policy-making in socioeconomic development is an ambitious challenge and requires a lot of responsibility. The article presents the activities carried out by the Polish official statistics, which are used to improve the effectiveness of strategic management at national and European level. In particular, the role of statistics was presented in the development and monitoring of strategic documents and in the process of implementing new mechanisms to coordinate economic policy. Celem artykułu jest interpretacja kategorii społecznej gospodarki rynkowej oraz omówienie struktury i dynamiki badań nad tym zagadnieniem. W pierwszej części artykułu autorzy przedstawiają argumenty przemawiające za tym, że ta koncepcja polityki społeczno-gospodarczej może odpowiadać na wyzwania współczesnego świata, w tym splot kryzysu gospodarczego, społecznego, środowiskowego i klimatycznego oraz obecnego zagrożenia pandemicznego. W części empirycznej przedstawiono wyniki analizy bibliometrycznej przedstawiającej strukturę, dynamikę i kierunki badań nad kategorią społecznej gospodarki rynkowej. Wnioski z tej analizy uzasadniają konieczność zwrócenia uwagi nauk społecznych na koncepcję społecznej gospodarki rynkowej, co potwierdzają również wyniki analizy publikacji naukowych dostępnych w bazach literatury ekonomicznej w latach 1959-2020.

The objective of the article is to present the results of the interpretation the category of Social Market Economy and the structure and dynamics of research development on this issue. In the first part of the article, the authors present arguments that this concept of socio-economic policy can respond to the challenges of the modern world, including economic, social, environmental and climate crises and pandemic threats. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of bibliometric analysis, including the structure, dynamics and directions of research concerning the issue of Social Market Economy. The conclusions of the conducted analysis justify the need for the social sciences to pay attention to the concept of Social Market Economy, which is also confirmed by the results of the bibliometric analysis of scientific publications available in Scopus, Web of Science and BAZEKON databases for the period 1959-2020.
