Student scientific movement is an essential part of academic life. In the article the author discusses how much the issue is taken into account by the institutional factors. To answer that question text analysis was applied. As empirical material we chose a local academic paper - 'Glos Uczelni'. The article tested how often between 1952-2010 the problems of student associations were discussed. It turned out that 'Glos Uczelni' is a useful material in examining the history of student scientific movement.

'Ask the Librarian' is a service that allows contact with the librarian in order to resolve problems associated with using the library. Increasingly, packages are created with comprehensive contact services, using not only tools such as telephone or a traditional letter, but also electronic, ranging from instant messaging to providing complex systems to track requests. The service has been firmly established in highly computerized countries. In Poland, however, many libraries still do not have a separate service, or it has not been prepared well. University centers, associated with research and progress should take the lead in developing high quality services, including those associated with contact with the user. The authors selected six of the best Polish university libraries in order to present the level of services such as 'Ask the Librarian' in Poland.

The article focuses on issues concerning the hidden curriculum of physical space where university education is realizing. In the first part I will attempt to describe the hidden curriculum in the context of physical non-didactical space of the university. I will refer to selected authors and studies in this area, and then I will present the examples of mostly English studies that have been conducted in this field. The next part of the article will emphasize the methodological issues. I will start with defining the research problems - setting the questions about the hidden curriculum relating to the organization of selected elements of physical non-didactical space of the university i.e. the entrance to the building, staircases, hallways, halls. Afterwards I will present the selected pattern and method of research - the qualitative research orientation with a reference to the activity of taking photographs in order to gather empirical material. The analysis of visual data will provide me with a base for research conclusions as an attempt to answer the research problems.

This article investigates the role of school-based civic education in the formation of political commitment, motivation and self-efficacy. The article is based on 60 qualitative interviews with university students from the Czech Republic and East and West Germany. Results indicate more favourable perceptions and evaluations of civic education by German students and offer practical recommendations for improving Czech education policy. Civic education has a positive impact particularly on children who were already interested in politics before beginning civic education classes. Apart from civic education, teachers, peers, school climate, organisational membership and family background are crucial factors in political engagement and commitment.

Muminki Tove Jansson na polskim rynku wydawniczym

63%
EN
Moomintroll stories by Tove Jansson were brought to Poland by Wojciech Zukrowski. Their publisher - the same for almost 50 years - is 'Nasza Ksiegarnia'. First book translated into Polish from this fairy-tale series (Finn Family Moomintroll) was published in 1964. It is worth mentioning that individual volumes were published in our country in a different order than the order created by the author and more to that, many years after the date of their first edition. Popularity of these books is well demonstrated by the number of reprints and adaptations - all with accompanying lively response from literary critics. The article discusses such issues connected to the presence of T. Jansson's Moomins series on the Polish publishing market as: editions, translations, graphic design, continuations, adaptations for film and stage. Opinions of literary critics on these works were also analysed.
