The paper deals with the critical analysis of the Russian linguistic culturology based on the idea that the national language is the source of data on Culture and of thin “mentality” of the people speaking this language. Here many possibilities for the scientific research of different connections between “culture” and “language” are proposed. These “links” should be regarded in the discourse with the consideration of its historical and social aspects, and not in the “language” as a system of words.

Artykuł zawiera opis zmian leksykalnych, które zaszły w rosyjskim słownictwie dotyczącym wartości w ciągu ostatnich dwu dekad. Autorka omawia tematy, które łączą grupy słów o zmienionym znaczeniu. Są to: temat społecznej adaptacji (zmiany słów приспособиться ‘przystosować się’, устраиваться ‘urządzać się’, компромисс ‘kompromis’, принципиальный ‘pryncypialny’, комфортный ‘komfortowy’ itd.); kwestia “życia prywatnego” (любить себя ‘kochać siebie’, эгоист ‘egoista’, позиционировать себя ‘ustawiać się w pozycji’); pragmatyzmu i majątku (позитивный ‘pozytywny’, престижный ‘prestiżowy’, сытый ‘syty’, самодостаточный ‘samowystarczalny’); zdrowia psychicznego i antyidealizmu (энтузиазм ‘entuzjazm’, рвение ‘gorliwość’, пристрастие ‘pasja’, интерес ‘zainteresowanie’, ажиотаж ‘podniecenie’, экстаз ‘ekstaza’, романтика ‘romantyzm’); wreszcie – temat życia intymnego (откровенный ‘otwarty’, ориентация ‘orientacja’, возбудиться ‘podniecić się’) itd.

The article describes the changes which have taken place in the Russian lexicon of values over the last two decades. The author deals with domains which link words with similar meanings. These are: social adaptation (changes in the words приспособиться ‘adapt to’, устраиваться ‘settle down’, компромисс ‘compromise’, принципиальный ‘full of principles’, комфортный ‘comfortable’ etc.); private life (любить себя ‘love oneself’, эгоист ‘egoist’, позиционировать себя ‘localize oneself’); pragmatism and possessions (позитивный ‘positive’, престижный ‘prestigious’, сытый ‘satiated’, самодостаточный ‘self-sufficient’); mental health and anti-idealism (энтузиазм ‘enthusiasm’, рвение ‘zeal’, пристрастие ‘passion’, интерес ‘interest’, ажиотаж ‘excitement’, экстаз ‘ecstasy’, романтика ‘romanticism’); intimate life (откровенный ‘open’, ориентация ‘orientation’, возбудиться ‘become excited/aroused’), etc.
