The analyses of the quality of tertiary education are frequently in line with scientific activity of academic teachers from the given university. Data regarding applications for research grants within 2013-2017 published by the National Center of Science as well as data from the monitoring system of professional careers of graduates, allow to verify the above mentioned relationship. The main results of the analyses cover universities with the units that applied for grants in the field of economic science and are showing not strong but statistically significant correlation between the graduates incomes and activites of academic teachers.

Analizy jakości kształcenia w szkołach wyższych często wiążą wysoką jakość z aktywnością naukową pracowników jednostki prowadzącej studia. Opublikowanie przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki zestawienia wnioskodawców w konkursach o granty badawcze z lat 2013-2017, a jednocześnie dostępność informacji z ogólnopolskiego systemu monitorowania ekonomicznych losów absolwentów pozwalają na dokonanie próby weryfikacji tej zależności. Zasadnicze wyniki analiz dotyczą uczelni, których jednostki występowały o granty w zakresie nauk ekonomicznych. Prowadzone badania wskazują na niezbyt silny, ale statystycznie istotny związek między zarobkami absolwentów a aktywnością naukową kadr akademickich.

Background. The aim of the study was to provide information about the socio-economic status, research activity, and mood disorders among PhD students of the Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław, Poland. Material and methods. This study covered 61 PhD students (mean age 28.4 years). The research employed the diagnostic survey method. The author’s survey examined the employment status and economic situation. An additional method, used to assess depression symptoms, was Beck Depression Inventory. Results. In the fields of physiotherapy and physical education, 96% and 78% of PhD students, respectively, had found employment. The total of 72% of physical education and 50% of physiotherapy students had published at least once. As many as 30% of all respondents reported symptoms of mood disorders and complained about mental health problems. Conclusions. Mood disorders are a serious problem in PhD students of the Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław. While physical education students show greater activity in the field of scientific research, more physiotherapy students are professionally active.

Okres jego życia zawodowego został podzielony na pięć etapów. Opis każdego z nich zawiera: przegląd podstawowych aktywności badawczych, ważne wydarzenia związane ze ścieżką zawodową, główne tematy podejmowane w publikacjach oraz działalność organizacyjną.

Summary: the article is a short description of the scientific biography of one of the most outstanding Polish specialists of Adult Education, prof. dr hab. Józef Półturzycki. His professional biography is divided into five intervals. The description of each includes an overview of the scientific activities, significant events related to the career path, main topics undertaken in publications, and organizational activity.
