The article entitled “Coitus in Roman marriage law” is devoted to the legal value that Roman law attributed to sexual intercourse between spouses – Roman citizens. The sources of Roman law with regard to the causal cause of marriage, the legal requirements for a Roman marriage with particular reference to the requirement for the nupturients to reach a certain age, are analysed. The Roman legislation that imposed an obligation on citizens to marry and produce offspring, inter alia for the implementation of the demographic plans of the Roman state, is then analysed. Finally, the conclusions and conclusion summarise the findings made on the issue.

Artykuł zatytułowany „Coitus w rzymskim prawie małżeńskim” poświęcony jest wartości prawnej, jaką prawo rzymskie przypisywało obcowaniu płciowemu między małżonkami – obywatelami rzymskimi. Analizie poddano źródła prawa rzymskiego w zakresie przyczyny sprawczej zawarcia małżeństwa, wymogi prawne zawarcia małżeństwa rzymskiego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wymogu osiągnięcia przez nupturientów określonego wieku. Następnie analizowane jest ustawodawstwo rzymskie, które nakładało na obywateli obowiązek zawierania małżeństw i posiadania potomstwa, między innymi w celu realizacji planów demograficznych państwa rzymskiego. Wreszcie wnioski i konkluzja podsumowują ustalenia poczynione w tej kwestii.
