This article aims to analyse the motives, language, and religious figures in the poems of Szczepan Kopyt which deal with the issues of social inequality, systemic violence, and the unequal distribution of goods. The author suggests/posits that post-secular rhetoric in modern engaged poetry aims to criticize the capitalist system based on economic differences and to consolidate social structures, exposing the principles according to which violence is legitimized within neoliberal capitalism. The author shows how the poet uses the language of religion to talk about class inequalities. The article discusses the most important rhetorical figures used in Szczepan Kopyt’s poems as well as characteristics of the language of the Bible or prayer forms, highlighting threads embedded in the religious imagination (such as the theme of salvation or the apocalypse), which – when recontextualized – constitute an important tool for criticizing systemic inequalities.

This article is a detailed comparative analysis of the attitudes and behaviour of Julka and Oliwia, two characters of Anna Cieplak’s novel Ma być czysto. I am particularly interested in a literary interpretation of chosen plots in sociological and psychological contexts. I assume the moment of a person’s transformation from a child into an adult is of particular importance to one’s identity development. It is at times difficult and teenagers often require family or institutional support. The article is going to pay special attention to the opportunities the characters’ growing up environment offers, trying to display one of the novel’s main themes, that is, social inequality and its influence on the teenagers’ individual development.

Celem artykułu jest szczegółowa analiza porównawcza postaw i zachowań dwóch bohaterek powieści Ma być czysto autorstwa Anny Cieplak, Julii i Oliwki. Na problemy poruszone w tekście patrzę przede wszystkim z perspektywy literaturoznawczej, niemniej staram się wykorzystywać również liczne konteksty socjologiczne i psychologiczne. Wychodzę z założenia, że moment transformacji dziecka w dorosłego ma szczególne znaczenie w procesie kształtowania się tożsamości. Bywa jednak trudny, a nastolatki nierzadko wymagają w tym czasie wsparcia rodzinnego czy instytucjonalnego. Zwrócę uwagę na możliwości oferowane przez środowisko, w którym wychowują się dziewczyny, starając się wyeksponować jeden z głównych tematówksiążki – nierówności społeczne i ich wpływ na rozwój indywidualny nastolatek.
