The article is devoted to the consideration of modern approaches to teaching foreign medical students the Ukrainian language and to clarification in this context of the main characterological features of the competence approach. In the work the theoretical general scientific methods of cognition are used: the study of information sources, analysis, synthesis, generalization, analogy. In modern linguodidactics, different approaches to teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language are presented: communicatively oriented, activity-oriented, personality-oriented, competence-oriented. There is also a tendency to integrate approaches in the theory and practice of language education of foreign students. The use of a variety of approaches is due to the desire of scientists to focus on certain aspects of the very phenomenon of communication, and its didactic issues in order to optimize the educational process. In the field of professional medical education, where linguistic competence becomes an important condition for the professional training of a future doctor, the competent approach to language learning becomes especially relevant. Competency approach has advantages over other approaches, because in its content there is a direct orientation of training for the implementation of professional tasks. The language competence of medical professionals is defined as the ability to learn language and speech skills and use them to solve a wide range of communicative tasks. Vectors of the competent approach in preparing foreign students for medical activities in the aspect of communication are aimed at forming the main types of speech activity-listening and speaking. Such competencies manifest themselves in the part of the physician’s work, which is connected with communication with the patient, and in communication with medical colleagues and represent a system of skills of professional medical speech. The implementation of the competence approach provides the definition of methodological directions for training of foreign students. The prospects for the study include the definition of the structure of professional medical communication and the development of an optimal model for communicative skills development in foreign medical students.

The article analyzes the approaches to the interpretation of the notions “competency” and “competencies”. The current state of the problem is determined in the research literature. The purpose of the research is to work out the theoretical basis of competency approach and to define the formation of the future tourism managers’ culture during educational and training services. For the achievement of the main purpose of the research the following methods were used: analysis and synthesis of existing sources of world’s and native experience; comparison, generalization and theoretical data classification; expert evaluation method; generalized method of independent characteristic for tourism managers’ skills and others. In this paper the peculiarities of the competency-based approach were observed due to future tourism managers’ culture basis. It was also given a particular priority to the model basis of competency of the tourism managers as qualified specialists. Moreover, it was clarified the features of communicative competency and the level of its development which would have an influence on management efficiency, especially the sale of tourist service/product, common level of understanding between partners, customers and staff, psychological atmosphere in collaboration with business partners, organizations or state-run institutions. We defined the competencies of culture basis for future tourism managers’ who get bachelor’s degree in speciality 242 Tourism in the process of studying educational course “Management in Tourism”. It was grounded the expediency of the competency-based approach using in order to form the future tourism managers’ culture. Theoretical analysis of our investigation gives us the key for understanding that the competency-based approach of future tourism managers’ culture basis is an integrated system of their scientific, specific, psychological, professional course knowledge and skills. Taking into account this fact it’s necessary to create the methodological system of qualified tourism managers training which includes traditional and innovative technologies for studying in order to improve the degree of management competencies. In such way, we can find the way of constructive solution how to prepare future tourism managers to scientific, investigating, analytic, business, institutional and management activity.

The article shows the feasibility of introduction in educational process by engineers-teachers of the food profile of some methodological approaches. The study used theoretical methods that include analysis, synthesis, comparison, modeling in order to determine the appropriateness of the systematic, activity, personal-oriented, competency learning approaches. It has shown a portion of the application of simulation games in the process of training students as a part of activity approach. As a result of this game, students acquire generalized professional skills, namely: creative (non-standard approach to the design of the dishes), activity (generalization of indicators of quality and obtain an average result that is decisive in the evaluation of the quality of food, the ability to analyze the consequences of the process of cooking in the end result – the quality of food), research (personal style in the definition of specific indicators of food quality: taste, smell), organizational and motivational (self-organization and self-motivation in assessing the quality of food). As a part of a personal-oriented approach to teaching students show the use of heuristic and personal-oriented learning methods in the course of their training. Thus, in the process of solving technological problems, creating art projects, a student, applying theoretical knowledge of cooking techniques, outlines solutions to the problem, with the result that recognizes the importance of knowledge and skills. Thus, any production situation becomes the basis for the initial goal-setting student, which reflects the professional direction of his actions. In the future experts develop the ability to realistically assess their capabilities, their compliance with the conditions of tasks. It promotes the formation of the students’ activity-related, organizational and motivational skills and research and, as a consequence, the formation of preparedness for future careers. Using these approaches, according to the author, allows students to develop generalized professional skills during training, which promotes the formation of their readiness for the future professional activities. In the future, further research is planned to define teaching methods, implementation of which will form the readiness of students for future careers
