This article deals with the translation of reality names in fantasy literature. Research material was collected from the novels of the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and from their Russian translations. This article demonstrates how language and culture determine the use of German „Heimat”, „Heimatland” and „Vaterland” translated into Polish as „ojczyzna”. From the perspective of anthropocentric linguistics, the central research object is primarily the translator who is responsible for the appropriateness of the translation result. The explication reflects the theories within the scope of linguistic worldview, developed by J. Bartmiński and A. Wierzbicka. The cognitive aspects of literary translation will be explained on the example of Mascha Kaléko’s poems, originally written in German.

The second part of the article compares the adverbial participles in Polish and Macedonian languages. The analyses are based on comparing adverbial participles used in Polish literary texts with their Macedonian equivalents used in translation.

The aim of this publication is to present the dysfunction that the Polish legislator (in this role de facto politicians) has had for many years in the inadequate use of the nomenclature in the space of public and legal tributes for the term tax and fee. For the above research purpose the author has used, in principle, the doctrinal views according to which the use of the name fee for benefits fulfilling all the characteristics of a tax is undoubtedly worthy of unambiguous criticism. All this is done in order to obtain budgetary revenues by concealing subsequent taxes under the name of fees so as not to arouse negative emotions among citizens, nolens volens future voters, and representatives of the faithful electorate.

The present article analyzes the translation of the lexical and semantical field of color-naming (on the basis of Adam Mickiewicz’s Pan Tadeusz and its Russian translation by Światosław Świacki). The analysis focuses on the contexts in which the words denoting the semantics of colors function. The lexical and semantic field of color-naming has been characterized and divided into sub-fields (representatives sub-fields for chromatic and achromatic colors have been distiguished as well as the color-naming words have been divided according parts of speech). The main part of the paper  is devoted to the analysis of translating tools used by Światosław Świacki in order  to refelct the semantics of colors in the translation.

This article is devoted to the problem of the criteria on which multi-word terms should be selected and verified for the bibliographic database of Slavic linguistics publications iSybislaw. The text is based on Russian and Polish linguistic material. Such criteria as actuality, frequency, transparency of form are applied separately in each language and different sets and variability of terms in the each case are established. The authors examine also the reasons of formal and semantic asymmetry between Polish and Russian terminological units in the database.

The issue of slotting allowances or slotting fees still causes many doubts and disputes. This article discusses the most important problems which appeared in light of a number of Polish judgments in this type of cases. Mentioned among them can be the boundaries of freedom of contract in the context of Article 15(1)(4) of the Unfair Competition Act 1993 on symptoms of limitations of access to the market and the character of this prerequisite in jurisprudence as well as a number of issues connected thereto such as burden of proof, equivalency of benefit provided by retail-chains to cooperating suppliers and the legal character of rebates and bonuses in relations between them. These issues are discussed in the context of the attitudes of the doctrine and business practice in this economic field. This rather wide treatment of each of these problems makes it possible to comment on the chosen judgments including their correctness. The Author did not avoid to present a critical voice in this debate wherever he believed that the direction taken in a given judgment demands rethinking and possible revision.
