Artykuł, bazując na materiałach kartoteki słownika etnolingwistycznego, przedstawia charakterystykę postaci strzygonia (jego żeński odpowiednik to strzyga). Autorka dokonuje systematycznego zestawienia cech tej półdemonicznej zjawy, z myślą o dalszych studiach porównawczych (z innymi postaciami demonologii ludowej). Analiza zawiera informacje dotyczące: sposobów transformacji w strzygonia, jego cech zewnętrznych i zakresu działania, miejsca i czasu jego pojawiania, sposobów jego unieszkodliwiania oraz ochrony człowieka przed staniem się tą istotą.

The article characterises a creature called strzygoń (its female counterpart is called strzyga). The article is based on the materials that come from the catalogue of the Ethnolinguistic Dictionary. The author carries out a systematic comparison of characteristic traits of this half-demonic apparition, with further comparative studies of other creatures belonging to the realm of folk demonology in mind. The analysis includes information related to: the ways of transforming into a strzygoń, its appearance and modes of action, the place where and the time when it appears, the ways to incapacitate the said creature, and how to protect oneself against becoming one.
