This article deals with authentic texts and their use in the course “Business German as a Foreign Language”. The following explains what an authentic text is and what role authentic texts fulfil in the context of foreign language teaching and learning. The didactic potential of authentic texts, especially with regard to the requirements of the labor market, should be demonstrated on the example of a textbook for students “Wirtschaftsdeutsch als Fremdsprache. Ein Leitfaden mit ausgewählten Themen für Die Praxis”.
