Testing usability with eye-tracking enables to understand a new dimension of user interaction. We can research areas that are most interesting for users and what behaviour patterns cause it. It is possible to identify page elements that attract attention and to which the user is blind. The eye-tracker device is very accurate, it can measure up to 120 times per second the position of the eye on the screen. Using research data it is possible to draw gaze plots report and heat map chart for further analysis. In my opinion the greatest challenge for performing eye-tracking research is to use appropriate methodology, such as set exposure time, fixation length, recruit representatives group, set up relaxing testing condition for users to react in a natural way.

The article presents results of the research concerning the analysis of differences in solving physics problems among the beginners and experts. The group of beginners consisted of the secondary school students, the students of information technology and mathematics, whereas the group of experts composed of the university research workers as well as post-graduate students of physics. Using the eye-tracker SMI 1250 we checked if time devoted to the analysis of task content influences considerably on full separation of essential information necessary for problem solving. The analysis of the results obtained during the research showed that the experts concentrate more easily on the most important information leading to give the correct answer to the given question. The conducted experiment revealed that in the examined group the wrong usage of knowledge gained at school during physics has big influence on the choice of the wrong answer.

This study presents the results of research using an eye-tracking technique which enables following eyeball movements while solving a scientific task. Also presented is an analysis of the visual attention for participants (further called subjects) of a different mathematical experience while solving a mathematics test task. The aim of the research is to determine the profile of methods of solution of tasks which require the analysis of a diagram. The research opens new cognitive possibilities in mathematics didactics by showing the utility of the eye-tracking technique in a deeper recognition of the processes of learning and teaching Maths.
