The author presents sustainable development as one of the management branches. The article is an attempt to illustrate the connection between change of the paradigm and the way of perceiving the world. According to the author that change resulted in creation of the concept of sustainable development. Furthermore, the article presents the origins of the concept and actions for that movement. The author describes groundbreaking moments in a law system, which helped to implementation of main aims of sustainable development as well. The article also mentions a topic of main idea that stands behind the concept.

The concept of the sustainable development does not appear very often in deliberations about the modernization of the school or in the reflections about possibilities of changing the child’s education model and the educational culture in Poland. Usually we unite the idea of sustainable development with ecological or environmental education. Meanwhile, it turns out that it is possible to reach a new tool of thinking about changes in education, the concept of the sustainable development, which opens new opportunities for the exploration. The author of the article proposes to read out the pedagogical dimensions of this idea and to use growing values for the reconstruction of the way of thinking about the primary education. New practical solutions of building educational environment are also possible. The implementation of the project: Environmental Education for the Sustainable Development in the Teacher Education, carried out by a team of the M. Grzegorzewska Academy of the Special Education in Warsaw and of the Agder University in Kristiansand, was an inspiration for this analysis.

Zagadnienie idei zrównoważonego rozwoju niezbyt często pojawia się w rozważaniach na temat modernizacji szkoły czy możliwości zmiany modelu i kultury edukacji dziecka w Polsce. Zazwyczaj tę ideę łączymy z edukacją ekologiczną lub edukacją środowiskową. Tymczasem okazuje się, że sięgnięcie do nowego narzędzia myślenia o zmianach w edukacji dzieci, jakim jest idea zrównoważonego rozwoju, otwiera nowe możliwości poszukiwań. Autorka artykułu proponuje odczytanie pedagogicznych wymiarów tej idei i wykorzystanie pojawiających się wartości do przebudowy myślenia o edukacji wczesnoszkolnej oraz znalezienie nowych rozwiązań praktycznych konstruowania środowiska uczenia się. Inspiracją do tych poszukiwań była realizacja projektu „Edukacja Środowiskowa dla Zrównoważonego Rozwoju w Kształceniu Nauczycieli”, realizowanego przez zespół projektowy Akademii Pedagogiki Specjalnej im. In the encyclical Laudato Si’ Pope Francis summarizes the rich legacy of his predecessors contained in the statements on the ecological question. Starting from Paul VI, successive popes repeatedly referred to the issue in different contexts and aspects. Pope Francis’s standpoint actively involved the community of the Catholic Church in the mainstream of contemporary environmental debate, demonstrating full readiness for the broadest cooperation in research and activities inspired by concern for the Earth, our common home. The Pope sees the possibility of such cooperation in consultation with all people of good will who share the appreciation for the set of issues presented in this paper: idea of sustainable development, idea of integral ecology, bioethical issues, climate change issue, and eco- -justice issue.

W encyklice Laudato si’ papież Franciszek podsumowuje bogaty dorobek swoich poprzedników zawarty w wypowiedziach na temat kwestii ekologicznej. Począwszy od Pawła VI kolejni papieże wielokrotnie odnosili się do tej kwestii, podnosząc ją w różnych kontekstach i aspektach. Stanowisko papieża Franciszka aktywnie włącza wspólnotę Kościoła katolickiego w główny nurt współczesnej debaty ekologicznej, wykazując pełną gotowość do najszerzej rozumianej współpracy w badaniach i działaniach inspirowanych troską o Ziemię – nasz wspólny dom. Możliwość takiej współpracy dostrzega papież w porozumieniu ze wszystkimi ludźmi dobrej woli, którzy podzielają znaczenie wskazanych w niniejszym opracowaniu zagadnień: idea zrównoważonego rozwoju, idea ekologii integralnej, problematyka bioetyczna, kwestia klimatyczna i kwestia eko-sprawiedliwości.
