The role of terms-indirect nominations in the thesaurus of information retrieval system of the Slavic linguisticsThe article examines some of the problems of modern information retrieval systems in the Slavic studies, in particular, one of the most representative – Bibliographic Database World Slavonic Linguistics, created in the Institute of Slavic Studies of PAS under the leadership of Dr. Z. E. Rudnik-Karwatova. The author focuses on the ways to improve the linguistic support of such systems and increase the efficiency of image for information searching. They are connected with the study of the keywords in the annotations of scientific publications within database, as well as in the whole of modern Slavic linguistic terminology. This study enables us not only to select a comprehensive number of terms for each linguistic discipline, school, or problem, but also to determine their variability as well as their relationship with other terms of modern-day Slavic linguistics. The result of such study should be information retrieval thesaurus of modern Slavic linguistic terminology.Special attention in the article is paid to the role of indirect nomination in modern Slavic linguistic terminology, system-organizing function of the terms with indirect semantics, resources and modes of their creating in different Slavonic languages, the correlation between indirect nomination and figurative one as well as the terms which indicate the place of object in some classifications (see Ukrainian середній рід) or gradual opposition (see Polish semileksem).

Abstract and annotation as an element of bibliographic description in the iSybislaw databaseAbstract (sometimes called summary) of a scientific publication is a brief text that contains keywords. It is one of the elements of a bibliographic description in the bibliographic database iSybislaw – a modern information retrieval system. In the paper definitions of terms such as abstract, annotation and summary along with their constitutive elements are presented. A characteristics of such short texts inserted in the iSybislaw database in the fields Abstract and Abstract 2 is also given. Based on some examples excerpted from the iSybislaw system a typology of short texts, which are elements of the database bibliographic description, is proposed. The material allows to list three kinds of texts that are being used in the iSybislaw database: annotations, abstracts and biographic annotations.

Synonymy and search synonymy in an IR system (on the basis of linguistic terminology and the iSybislaw system)The paper focuses on some problems of synonymy in the linguistic terminology and solutions for the optimal representation of information in the structure of an IR language. Linguistic terms in addition to metalinguistic meaning also carry some meta-scientific information (e.g. on the methodological school). It is thus possible that two different terms refer to the same linguistic phenomenon within various research trends. The issue of usage is also addressed here (including idiolectal preferences). The above phenomena on the one hand and various user information needs on the other result in some significant difficulties in the work on the optimization of IR in iSybislaw.

Functional development of the bibliographic information system on Slavic linguistics – from SYBISLAW to iSybislawThe paper presents the process of functional development of the bibliographic information system on Slavic linguistics. The first database SYBISLAW (System Bibliografii Slawistycznej), established in 1993, was only available locally and used primarily to generate bibliographies in a traditional book form (7 volumes for the years 1992–1997). In the face of the development of information technology and the needs of modern bibliography users, the professional system of bibliographic information on Slavic linguistics iSybislaw was designed and implemented in 2008. It is a modern system available online for both indexators, as well as for external users. The structure and functionality of the iSybislaw system allow the use of an expanded formal and subject description, advanced search options and access to full texts of documents. Rozwój funkcjonalności systemu informacji bibliograficznej językoznawstwa slawistycznego – od SYBISLAWa do iSybislawaArtykuł przedstawia proces funkcjonalnego rozwoju systemu informacji bibliograficznej światowego językoznawstwa slawistycznego. Wobec rozwoju technik informacyjnych i potrzeb współczesnych użytkowników bibliografii w 2008 r. zaprojektowano i zaimplementowano profesjonalny system informacji bibliograficznej językoznawstwa slawistycznego iSybislaw.
