This article presents a word formation analysis of adjectival derivatives with a не- prefix in theUkrainian language. Derivatives with the following formants are discussed: -лив-, -им-, -ев- (-ев-),-к- (-ок-, -ек-), -сък- (-цък-), -л-, -уч- (-юч-), -ач- (-яч-), -ущ- (-ющ-). The conducted analysisallows for the following conclusions:1. With regard to derivative bases, the discussed affixal derivatives can be divided into twobasic groups, whose motivation is derived from nominal and verbal derivative bases and roots.2. Derived noun bases fall into the categories of derivative bases and roots, functioning in twogrammatical genders: masculine and feminine. A greater expansiveness in forming suffixal derivativesis indicated by derivative bases, mostly suffixal ones.3. In the Ukrainian language, there is a small group of the so-called polymotivational derivativeswith a double motivation, whose formation can be derived from a particular non-prefix adjectiveor a noun stem.In the Ukrainian language, a numerous group of suffixal derivatives has suppletive suffixalor paradigmatic forms.

Basing on the phraseology and paremiology 3 groups of typical phraseological motives concerningdevil are reviewed in the article. In the article, basing the poetic texts by S. Yesenin and their Polish translations, specific pecularities of decoding one of the lexico-semantic paradigms as a component part of the author’s poetic structure in the process of its translation into a language conceptual space formed by some other communicative and cultural traditions are disclosed. The key components of the paradigm are stated; the preservation of their systemic pecularity stipulates the adeguate artistic translation.

The source of research is V.I. Dalya’s Explanatory dictionary. The material of research is a dictionary entry „Rain”. The dictionary entry is studied as the text. Methods cognitive linguistics, the logic analysis are applied. The author find out typological attributes of the dictionary and confirms high quality of V.I. Dalya’s Explanatory dictionary.

Lexicology may be one of the most impotant measures of linguistic analysis of advertising. On the basis of the analysis of texts of modern Russian cosmetic products adertising, the author conludes that the language of advertising antails two separable domains of vocabulary – valuating and neutral. A proper choice of lexical units which have the arbitrary, adjuditing connotations (rational and emotional) nay have the maximum effect on a potential buyer of an advertised cosmetics product. In needs emphasising that the axiological vocabulary in the advertisements texts propagates a certain lifestyle, while the reality created through the language of advertising is definitely beatiful, rich, benevolent and uncomolicated.

This article is devoted to questions of ethno-linguistic research of the language and of lexicographical introducing of its outcomes. Particularly, the author considers methods of the folklore vocabulary analysis with the purpose of the exposing of representative cultural meaning conveyed by a word. Possibilities to fix the come out data in the folklore language dictionary of a culturology kind are also the subject of this research.

The author of this article analyses some poetic quotations which are grouped in the following way:1. Soviet poets, who in different extent of involvement, were apologists of the Soviet reality2. Classicists of the 19th century Russian poetry3. Soviet poets whose literary works were forbidden, or were treated disrespect-fully, or simply ignored, therefore these pieces of work circulated frequently in clandestine publishing and distribution. The analyse made by the author depicts that such way and context of citation was often used by many authors whose works played an instrumental role for temporary purposes. However, they did not always keep their minds on high artistic level of ana-lysed texts. Their citations were frequently applied to discriminate the seventy - year period of the Soviet ruling, particularly in the aspects of political and social life as well as to point out degeneration of perestroika and the so called Soviet „democracy”. However, one can recognize their substantial, expressive and cognitive function.

The article deals with perspective ways of modality studies in the modern linguistics based on a functional approach to language facts analysis; determines structural-semantic features of modality as a text category; detects the specifics of modal semantics in the texts of different genres.

The present case study investigated university students’ academic and linguistic gains during a semester-long exchange program abroad. Thirty three third-year English majors from a Chinese university answered a battery of questionnaires and 13 of them participated in semi-structured interviews both prior to and after the program. Analyses of the data showed that the participants gained greatly from the exchange program both academically and linguistically. Based on the findings, some implications about exchange programs are discussed.

This paper discusses a problem of functioning of grammatical variants of inflection forms and substantive word-formations on the surface of lexical semantics in the Slavonic languages. Author comes to conclusion that the role of morphonological factor in vocabulary enrichment consists in the liquidation of the segmental alternations on the morpheme borders in the process of diachronic development of grammatical variation of substantive forms. Depending on the presence or absence of alternations, the grammatical meaning of concrete variants of inflectional forms or substantive wordformations can be lexicalizated and build the different meanings and/or stylistic connotations in the lexical subsystem of language.

The article deals with the role of lexemes denoting light in explication of Yuri Kuranov’s axiological priorities. The connection between the category of light and category of high spirituality in the author’s world view is established; their connection to traditional Christian values is proved.

The article discusses extension and intension of the advertisement concept. The core idea, originality, likeability (attractiveness), target population orientation, motivation (encouragement) are viewed as the main components of the contemporary advertising. For that 1250 slogans were analyzed to reveal the frequent lexical items (with regard to parts of speech). The fact that the most frequent name is LIFE is interpreted in view of streamline of publicity manipulation and ideology of advertising.

The subject of this paper will be a semantic and structural analysis of the names of electoral committees, and a reference to the axiological systems that are indirectly reflected by them. The names of electoral committees are obligatory elements of electoral activities, as well as being an interesting element of political marketing.

The subject of religious toponymy of the investigated period was shown on the example of appellatives, Orthodox church names and most frequent Christian names. Terminology connected with Catholic Church and Orthodox Church has been analyzed to show Polish influence in the native lexicon.

The article includes consideration within the topic of peculiarity of semantic features of no-subject clauses. Taking into consideration the impossibility to form some common semantic features for all types of impersonal sentences, what is interesting in the presence of a percepting figure in particular clauses of this type, wchich raises a question whether perceptivity should not be treated as a semantic constituent of a categorial meaning of impersonality (similary to the independence of the subject's will, the inactivity or vehemene of a subject, etc.).

This article aims to describe the function played by Polish language In the life of Poles residing in independent Ukraine. The hypothesis on the lack of necessity to use a native language in everyday life in order to preserve cultural distinctness has been verified during the field-research conducted by the author. Polish language is only one of the elements of widely-understood Polish culture. The group subject to field-research study has also preserved other elements, such as: hierarchy of values of norms and patterns, feeling of distinctiveness, typical Polish traditions and customs. This observation contrasts with stereotypical opinion according to which preservation of culture is impossible without preservation of language.

Language determines the process of cognition. Any process of cognition is the interpretation of the world through language. Emotions are one of the ways of not only reflecting, but also interpreting and evaluating the reality. One of the most fundamental and important emotions is the emotion of fear, sometimes called the motivational basis of human consciousness. The frequency of emotion words in discourse is one of the basic indices of changes taking place in modern reality and society. The present article attempts to analyse the linguistic realization of the concept of fear in the language of the press. The analysis is based on examples from press texts which represent modern Russian- American political relations. The analysis of the language of the press provides the basis for the presentation of the main sources of both real and imagined fear.

The processes of globalization form and direct interaction and development of European languages in the modern world. So, globalization takes out the English language into the first place in the world: about 400 mln people, living in the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand consider it their naitive language. Besides, about 1,5 mld people use English as their second and third language. But in Europe the German language takes the first place.In modern linguistics a great interest is constantly increasing towards intercultural communication. The main tasks of which are the following: prevention of communicative failures and speech conflicts in the process of intercultural contacts, transmission from one language into another, linguocultural concept, because becoming proficient in the linguo-conceptual sphere (the culture of a studying language) is the final and the most important stage in mastering a foreign language
